Over the years, cigarettes have gotten an increasingly bad rap. Cigarettes cause cancer, has been the major cry from the non-smoking public. News reports claim that cigarettes contain cancer causing chemicals.

Whereas I don't doubt that cigarette smoking can lead to lung cancer, I became curious as to what these deadly chemicals are, and why they are used.

What Is Wrong With this Picture?

Anyone can see that there is a definite over population problem within the prison system here in the U.S.. Politicians talk about it, law makers have brought it to the table and brushed it aside, and some foolish men in power, actually decided that the solution to the dilemma would be to offer 'early release' to quite a few prisoners. I'm not talking about petty criminals either. All the pot smokers doing time are still doing it; violent criminals have been put through 'early release. Let me say that another way... Violent criminals have been freed to walk among us.

I recently read an article regarding bad parenting. One thing that was brought up in the piece was that it was not a good idea to try to be your child's friend. The piece went on to state that attempting to be your child's friend was a major failing of parents of my generation. I beg to differ.

My understanding of the meaning of the phrase, 'Separation of church and state' :

It is true that the forefathers of our great country, fled to the Americas to be free from religious persecution. England had a state religion, and if you were to live a happy life there, you had better subscribe to that religion and practice it in the state dictated way. Many folks could just not go along with that and left, to live their lives as they saw fit.

Several weeks ago, I downloaded a series of audios from The 11 Forgotten Laws, by Bob Proctor. While listening to the material, I was introduced to a book by Raymond Holliwell, 'Working With the Law.' I went to Amazon.com right away and purchased this book, and boy am I glad I did. It is an awesome book. I have learned a great deal from those 184 pages. I recommend it to anyone who wants to learn how to make their life everything they want it to be. If one wants to learn how the Law of Attraction works, how to make it work for personal advancement and successful living, this is the book to read.

Mr. Holliwell's book discusses the 11 Laws or Truths, for successful living. In other words, he talks about how the law works and how it can and should be applied. What are these laws you ask?

Social Networking Sites That Suck!

People join social networking programs for many different reasons, ranging from looking for business contacts, specific topic information, to meeting new people and keeping in touch with existing friends. Did you happen to notice that I did not include sexual interludes, or pornography?

Dating sites were created for the purpose of people 'hooking up.' I know I've said this before, but it needs repeating: Couples go on dates, NOT networks. If one wants to have some sort of personal (sexual) encounter, social networking sites are not the place to be; at least they shouldn't be. I am a big-time social networker. I belong to a huge list of groups. I even coordinate a domestic violence support group on Women For A Change. I post blogs and photos, videos and things, but I do not violate the sites TERMS OF SERVICE. I have no desire to.

Now, I like to think of myself as an open minded individual; however, I must draw a line. When I create profiles on social networks I always state my age and that I am happily married. I let people know that I have two children and that I am looking for business contacts and FRIENDS. I have quit social networks because I have been offended to that point.

What do I find offensive? The fact that I get friend requests from people who obviously did not read my profile page. They looked at my photo and asked me to be their friend. Then they start sending me sexual gifts like orgasms, and french kisses, etc.. And I must not forget all of the internal email messages requesting my private email for the exchange of pictures. Yeah Right!

When I visit their profile to find out who they are, I see nude photos and sexual acts on the page.

(I've read the terms of service to the sites I am a member of. Not a single one permits the posting of nudity, or sexual content. )

Why on Earth would any of these people want to be my friend? Because of a photograph? In my humble opinion, that's pretty friggin' shallow.

I'd rather be advertised to by marketing newbies, all day long, than to open and delete all of the trashy messages I get. It's like every creepazoid in the universe comes out to play. Find a dating site already! Leave us networkers alone!

I don't take the time to fill out my profile page for it to be ignored. Furthermore, I don't have the time to waste deleting all of this crap.

Am I alone in this?

Don't get me wrong... I enjoying sharing web pages with others, videos, music, jokes and the like. That is networking; sharing ideas, building relationships with people, establishing contacts.

My profiles say that I am married! I am not looking for cheap thrills, so don't send me any. If you can't take the time to read my profile, then don't take the time to invite me to be your friend.

Special Prosecutor Needed

President-elect Obama recently said, "if I found out that there were high officials who knowingly, consciously broke existing laws, engaged in coverups of those crimes with knowledge forefront, then I think a basic principle of our Constitution is nobody above the law."

Attorney General-designate Eric Holder recently said top Bush Administration officials "authorized the use of torture, approved of secret electronic surveillance of American citizens, secretly detained American citizens without due process of law, denied the Writ of Habeus Corpus to hundreds of accused enemy combatants, and authorized the use of procedures that both violate international law and the United States Constitution."

The Bush administration has refused to investigate its own crimes and President Bush may issue blanket pardons before he leaves. President Obama must appoint a Special Prosecutor - ideally Patrick Fitzgerald - to fully investigate these crimes and prosecute those responsible to demonstrate that we are truly a Nation of Laws and no one - including the President - is above the law.

I am Grateful to Be Alive Today

I am grateful to be alive!

Yesterday I was involved in a car accident.

My mother and I were returning from our monthly grocery shopping in Grand Junction (110 miles from home), when I hit a patch of ice that sent us head first into a house sized boulder. If the rock hadn't stopped us, I would have been able to navigate back to the road.

I am grateful that neither of us were seriously hurt.

I am grateful for all of the people who stopped to help or get help. They drove for miles to get to a place where they could call for help, being that there is no cell service or even CB reception in the canyon.

I am grateful that my son stayed home to go to school, rather than making the trip with us.

I am grateful for the deputy that stayed with us until the tow truck came for the car. He drove us home later.

I am grateful for the tow truck driver who, before taking my car to the salvage yard, brought it by my house so that we could retrieve the groceries I had bought that day.

I am grateful for my insurance company, who will take care of everything except the first $500.00.

I am grateful for seatbelts. The air bags didn't work. They stayed in their hiding place.

Please forgive me for not being around much these days. I appreciate the time that you take to read me, and visit my pages; honestly, I do.

I have been going through a life changing experience, to be truthful, and it has occupied my psyche 100%.

Other than promoting My Journey, the book I published last year, to save my home, I have written another book. The manuscript is finished. I am in the process of doing revisions and other editing, but the story is told. I've written more than 300 pages!

As soon as I have finished making these revisions, and get the approval of my husband/editor, I will be shopping for an agent. Even with the manuscript finished, there is still much work to do. (I have to get my husband to do the cover art for me.)

I've also been spending time studying. I am into a personal growth groove. It has been awesome!

I'm not ready to jump back into the Internet yet, but I am getting there. I hope you understand that I'm chasing a dream, and it is closer to being in reach than ever before.

My book is finished! My husband (my editor) is reading it right now. I am nervous and excited. After he reads it and goes through it with a blue pencil, I will make adjustments and then... I will seek out others to read it for me. I want to know if it is worth my time to submit this piece, all 300+ pages, to a publisher.

Well, I have just received my foreclosure notice from Citi Residential, the same company that would not accept a partial mortgage payment from me. They plan to go ahead with foreclosure if payment in full is not made by the end of this week. Since I have only $1.68 in my pocket, I guess I am going to be looking for a new place to live.

My Journey Update

I would like to update you all on the progress that has been made since I made my cry for help. Remember, I wrote of a goal to sell 30,000 copies of my book, My Journey, A Lifetime of Verse; ISBN: 978-0-6151-6405-2, to save my home...

Well, I thought you may be interested in how that is going. Since October 4th, when I first posted, I have sold 20 copies of my book, and I have received two donations from people wanting to help. Total money received has been $136.00. Thank You!

Since the defamation campaign was launched against me, however, not a single book has been sold, nor have I received any new clients. This has been disheartening, to say the least, but I have not given up hope.

I am happy to report that my husband has picked up a couple of small jobs that have been able to keep the utilities going.

Here is an interesting tidbit for you... Last month, I tried to make a partial payment to my mortgage holder, Citi Residential, and they refused it. Then, the representative that I spoke with accused me of looking for a hand-out. I, as you can imagine got pretty angry. I said, "Hey, I'm not looking for anything; I am trying to give you some money! Isn't something better than nothing?" Still they refused the partial payment, saying that it was not their policy to accept anything but a full payment. So, I sent the money I did have to my utilities. In this economic climate, you'd think they'd accept anything they can get, but apparently, they are more interested in charging fees for late payments, making people like me even harder pressed to get out of the hole.

Okay, back to my book... I wrote this book to share my experiences with women in abusive relationships; to show that there is hope for a better tomorrow, and that they are not alone in their struggles. I have been trying to get it into the hands of these women through domestic violence advocacy groups, but I've been unsuccessful. I even dreamed that a wealthy philanthropist would take notice and buy 30,000 copies of the paperback and donate them to these organizations. What a dream! It even prompted me to write to Oprah. No, I haven't gotten a response from her, not even a message to tell me to bug off. Oh well.

Just so that you know, I am not giving up.

Thank you once again for all of your support and effort to help me. I appreciate you all very much and thank God for you every day. If you have any other ideas for me as to how to increase sales, I am open to hear them. I must add though, that I cannot join any of your programs or business opportunities. I have no money to invest; none, zip, zilch. Although I am sure that those of you who are sending me information on such things, mean well, I simply cannot participate. Thank you for thinking of me anyway.

I have been called a fraud and a liar for trying to sell my book to get out of my personal financial crisis. I do hope that you do not believe such things should you read them someplace online. The person who is spouting this garbage has absolutely no idea what she is talking about. How could she? She is not a friend of mine and has never been privy to my personal finances, much less has she ever bothered to get to know me as a person. She is vengeful and hateful, and yes, I believe she has jealousy issues, because of what she THINKS she knows. When the reality of it all is that she has no clue whatsoever. If I could afford a lawyer, I'd have her in a court room in a heartbeat.

Please, if you should come upon any damaging information that she has posted anywhere, regarding me, or even sent to you directly, send it to me. She has contacted associates of mine through email, and has admitted to doing so on her own myspace blog.

A Cry For Help

Okay, I despise having to do this, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

Since the economy has tanked, my husband is out of work. He is a building contractor, and self employed to boot. All of the projects he had in the works have collapsed because no one has any money to do them now, or they're hanging onto every dollar they have.

As a result, we are one of the many who stand to lose their home. We've lived in this house for 11 years, and I cannot imagine living in a dumpy apartment with my son and disabled mother.

Here's what I am asking: Last year I published a book of prose and photographs of the area in which I live. It is available as a download for $5.00. The paperback is $21.24. To save my home, I must sell 30,000 copies of the download. If you were to buy a copy and share my link with others, urging them to grab one, I may not have to move my family out of this house.

A Tribute to My Friend

I learned, last night, that my very dear friend, Mary Rice, passed away on Saturday, August 30th. I would like to pay tribute to my friend by telling you all about the Mary Rice that I knew, because to me, she was a great woman.

I met Mary about ten years ago, when I was relatively new to Nucla and joined the Basin Valley Lions Club. Mary and I hit it off right away. She made me feel welcome and an equal with all the other women in the club, being that I was the youngest member at the time. She never talked down to me, and accepted me for who I am. She bothered to get to know me, when others wouldn't.

Mary was honest about everything she said. She wouldn't pull any punches, calling 'em as she saw 'em. I respected her for that. She was tougher than nails; as strong as they get. I admired her for that. She went through taking care of her husband, single-handedly, when he became ill, and she did it with a smile on her face; she never complained. She actually apologized to others for not being as available to them as she used to be; she never complained. Her love for Cecil was a beautiful thing to witness.

She believed in meeting a challenge, not whining about it. She could be gruff, but she had a heart of gold. She enjoyed helping others. And I can honestly say that I strive to be more like she was.

I was looking forward to being her neighbor; to being able to walk over and visit. I wish I had visited with her more. I will miss her terribly. She was my friend.

CONGRESS VOTES TO OUTSOURCE PRESIDENCY - Washington, DC:

Congress today announced that the office of President of the United States of America will be outsourced to India as of April 1, 2008.

The move is being made in order to save the President's $400,000 yearly salary, and also a record $521 billion in deficit expenditures and related overhead that his office has incurred during the last seven years.

It is anticipated that $231 billion can be saved to the end of the President's term.

�We believe this is a wise financial move. The cost savings are huge,� stated Congressman Thomas Reynolds (R-WA).

�We cannot remain competitive on the world stage with the current level of cash outlay,� Reynolds noted. Mr. Bush was informed by e-mail this morning of his termination.

Preparations for the job move have been underway for some time.

Gurvinder Singh of Indus Teleservices, Mumbai, India will assume the office of President as of April 1, 2008. Mr. Singh was born in the United States while his Indian parents were vacationing at Niagara Falls, NY, thus making him eligible for the position. He will receive a salary of $320 (USD) a month, but no health coverage or other benefits.

It is believed that Mr. Singh will be able to handle his job responsibilities without a support staff.

Due to the time difference between the US and India, he will be working primarily at night.

�Working nights will allow me to keep my day job at the Dell Computer call center,� stated Mr. Singh in an exclusive interview. �I am excited about this position. I always hoped I would be President.�

A Congressional spokesperson noted that while Mr. Singh may not be fully aware of all the issues involved in the office of President, this should not be a problem as President Bush had never been familiar with the issues either.

Mr. Singh will rely upon a script tree that will enable him to respond effectively to most topics of concern. Using these canned responses, he can address common concerns without having to understand the underlying issue at all. �We know these scripting tools work,� stated the spokesperson.

�President Bush has used them successfully for years, with the result that some people actually thought he knew what he was talking about.�

Bush will receive health coverage, expenses, and salary until his final day of employment. Following a two-week waiting period, he will be eligible for $140 a week unemployment for 26 weeks. Unfortunately he will not be eligible for Medicaid, as his unemployment benefits will exceed the allowed limit.

Mr. Bush has been provided with the outplacement services of Manpower, Inc. to help him write a resume and prepare for his upcoming job transition. According to Manpower, Mr. Bush may have difficulties in securing a new position due to a lack of any successful work experience during his lifetime. A greeter position at Wal-Mart was suggested.

GBG - The Nutritional Drink/Business Opportunity Guided By God .

Today I received a sales pitch in my inbox for a program/product called 10 in 1, a nutritional drink. That is no surprise, since nutritional drinks are all the rage these days, but what did surprise me is the name of the company that manufactures and markets as an MLM: GBG, which according to the sales letter, stands for Guided By God. That name may suggest to some that the product is all natural, but I tend to think that it is just a ploy to instill trust in the company, more so than the product. A Google search clearly indicates that it is being promoted as a Christian business opportunity.

Student Ambassador Returns from Europe

Student Ambassador, Jerimiah Maltby, Returns from Europe

Last fall, Jerimiah Maltby, was chosen to represent the United States, in Europe, as a Student Ambassador. From October of 2006, until the date of departure, Jerimiah went to monthly orientation classes, and worked to raise money for this adventure.

On June 28, 2007, Jerimiah boarded a plane, in Durango, to begin his odyssey. He landed in Munich, Germany, nine hours later, and flew on to Athens, Greece. This is where his journey begins. They, Jeri and some 40 other students, spent five days in Greece, and then they traveled to Italy, spending ten days there. While in Italy, Jerimiah got to spend three of those days, living with an Italian family.

While in Italy, Jeri repelled down a 100-foot fortress wall, in Assisi, visited the Vatican, and even found his own name tagged on a wall. In big purple letters, the wall says, “Jeris.”

From Italy, they took the train to France. While on the train, someone stole Jeri’s journal, so he has no written record of his travels, but he took many photos. France was the last leg of their adventure, and unfortunately, Jeri ran out of batteries for the camera, and got the fewest pictures of that country. However, the photos he did get are awesome.

Can You Help Me?

Recently my son, Jerimiah, a junior at Nucla Senior High School, was honored by being selected to represent the United States as a Student Ambassador, with the People to People Program. He will be traveling to Europe in June, 2007, for a 20 day experience of a life time.

He will be visiting France, Italy and Greece, learning about their cultures, history and art. Art is his passion, and he will be studying art in college following his graduation in 2008.

For those who do not know what the People to People organization is, feel free to check it out here: http://www.studentambassadors.org The program was founded in 1956 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Jerimiah's program tuition is $5399.00. Of that amount, we have managed to raise approximately $1800.00. I have been doing everything I can to raise the money for this educational experience for him, but I must admit I am not doing so well. We still need to raise $3599.00 in order for him to take advantage of this tremendous honor.

I am asking everyone I know if they can find it in their hearts to donate to this awesome experience. Even if everyone I know donated $1.00 to Jerimiah, it would go a long way toward making this dream a reality for him.

What am I thankful for...?

I am thankful to have a roof over my head, food in my pantry, meat in my freezer, and love in my house.

I am thankful for my husband; for all that he does, all that he is, and for who he strives to become. I am thankful that we will be celebrating 10 years together, very soon.

I am thankful for my children. They are as different as night and day, and I really wouldn't have it any other way. I am proud of them both.

I am thankful that I have the opportunity to take care of my mother, and have her live in my home. Though I was not an easy child to bring up, and we didn't always see eye to eye, it is good to have my mom as my friend.

I am thankful to be in reasonably good health. If I weren't healthy, I would not be able to fully appreciate all that life has to share with me: Sunsets, snow capped mountains, my family and friends; I am a fortunate woman.

I am thankful for my friends, who have stuck by me through thick and thin.

I am also thankful for my business associates, readers and mentors, for without you, the Internet just wouldn't be the same for me. You all give it life.

Dear Friends,Family and Mom's Business Associates;

I was recently interviewed and accepted to participate as a People to People Student Ambassador to France, Greece and Italy this summer. This 20-day exchange consists of meetings with government officials, interaction with other students my age, educational activities, and home stays with host families. I will be traveling with 33 other students, who have been chosen for this honor, from the southwestern United States.

People to People Student Ambassadors are carefully interviewed and evaluated before their acceptance into the program. I am thrilled to have been chosen for this opportunity. I am really looking forward to meeting new people and learning about their cultures. And then there is the art! A few of the places I will get to visit include: the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, the Vatican, the Parthenon; I even get to climb Mt. Vesuvius.

I will be studying while there, under the supervision of two delegate teachers, and will be earning high school credit. I can also earn up to 12 college credits as well. As an Ambassador I can earn high school and college credit because of the many educational elements in my program. This experience will increase my understanding of the world and give me the opportunity to learn firsthand about new places and cultures. Such knowledge will help me become the best citizen I can be. This is the best summer school ever! I am excited to share my experience with my peers, family, and friends when I return.

I am currently asking my family and friends for financial sponsorship to help me with tuition, and I hope I can count on your support. Actually, my son, Jerimiah needs your help.

The issue is whether or not our school district should have our children go to school four days a week, or five days a week.

We are a small school district, and our funding is not that of a larger school system. Some of the people in the community feel that to cut expenses, we should only have our children attend four days per week. I disagree.

12 Daily Pro Is A SCAM!

Well, well, well... I have just reported 12DailyPro to the FBI. After reading this, if you still think that 12DP is a legitimate company, you need professional help!

In my previous report on 12DP, I outlined my experience with them as of that writng. Well, things have gotten much worse, and the only thing I have to say about the way things stand right now is, thank God I didn't have more than $24 invested in their scam.

RECAP: I joined 12DP and paid them $12 for two upgrade units. I surfed the required sites to get 12% on my $12. They paid me $15.84. I bought two more ugrade units for $12. They would not permit me to surf the required number of sites for that upgrade period, and recorded my pending earnings as $11.32. (a loss)

I have submitted support tickets regarding these things, and have never gotten a response, except to tell me I contacted the wrong department.

This morning, I logged into my StormPay account to find that 12DP had retracted the $15.84 they paid me for the first upgrade period. That's right, they stole my money right out of my StormPay account!

Since they provide no direct way to contact them, hiding behind a private registration, I submitted a support ticket, and contacted the FBI. I will keep you posted on my dealing with them [FBI].

Close your stormpay accounts and get the Hell out of 12DP, before they steal your money too.

How Serious Are You?

A Father's Day Memory

I hope all you dads out there had a terrific Father's Day yesterday. I hope you spent the day having fun doing your thing, whatever that may be.

My husband and I had planned to take our boys up the mountain, for a picnic yesterday. It didn't quite work out that way though. Our kids had different plans. Believe it or not, they wanted to spend the day hanging out with each other! (My boys are ages 15 and 7, and usually the youngest is driving the oldest crazy.)

Having been ditched by our kids, Jeff and I went up the mountain together, alone. We spent the afternoon exploring North Mountain on a four-wheeler. It was amazing; absolutely breath-taking. The views at 9400 feet are awesome!

We saw more than one herd of elk, deer, some bear tracks and a few varmints too. From one of our stops, we could see the Sleeping Ute mountain range, and the Blue Mountains of Utah. It was a day that will remain in my memory forever.

I guess most dads spend Father's Day with their kids, but this year our kids gave us both a gift. The gift of some time together as Jeff and Trina, not Mom and Dad. It was like being teenagers again. In fact, it brought back a lot of memories of when we were teenagers.

However you spent your Father's Day, I hope you enjoyed it as much as Jeff and I enjoyed ours. [COMMENT]

The Weekend Update...

It is Monday morning, and I have what is known as a, "Karate Mom's Hangover." No alcohol involved, just a lot of work, and even more pride.

For the last couple of months, I have been helping my husband put together a karate tournament, for the academy that he and my oldest son attend. The Day My Son Stumped Medical Science

On May 22, 2004, my normally hyper-active 6 year-old had doctors scratching their heads in wonder.

Tanner, who had been running around, acting like an average boy of six, the day before, had become ill. He woke that morning complaining of a backache, and then a headache. As the morning progressed, he continued to sleep, and sleep and sleep. Finally, he vomitted, and I took him to the clinic, in the next town.

By the time we arrived at the clinic, my very articulate child was totally incoherent, babbling and not knowing where he was. He was also running a fever, and still not able to keep his eyes open for any length of time.

Tanner was hooked up to an IV for fluids, thinking perhaps he was severely dehydrated, and blood was drawn to be tested for any viral infection.

When his blood showed an extreme amount of white cells, the hospital in Grand Junction was called for consultation. The doctor in the ER ordered that Tanner be flown to Junction, 110 miles away, immediately. His symptoms indicated meningitis.

What Is An ISSN?

National Serials Data Program, Library of Congress International Standard Serial Number (ISSN)

The purpose of an ISSN is to identify a serial publication, by title, regardless of the country of origin, or language. This number is an eight digit serial number that always looks like: ISSN 1234-56789. News Worthy In Nucla!

Nucla teen, Jerimiah Maltby, son of Trina and Jeff Sonnenberg, has been named, "Youth Compertitor of the Year 2003, by the Western Colorado Karate League.

Jerimiah and Jeff (Sonnenberg) are third year students at the AFKO Karate Academy, in Naturita, Colorado. Both are currently preparing to be tested for the rank of Brown Belt.

In December, 2003, Jerimiah and Jeff both attended the State Championships, held in Vail, Colorado, bringing home medals and an invitation to compete in the National Tournament. Nationals were held in March, 2004, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Following their most recent tournament, in Delta, Colorado, Jerimiah was presented with the award naming him, Youth Competitor of the Year. At the same time, the AFKO Karate Academy was named, School of the Year for 2003.

The school is owned and operated by Reed Mitchell, of Naturita, and is located in the Caldwell Banker Building on Main Street.

Email Is Out! RSS Is In...

Good Morning Dear Readers;
Have you noticed that SPAM has recently reached to new heights? I mean, over the last week or so, it seems to me I have received more of it than usual. It's as though the volume is increasing as the CAN-SPAM ACT nears its final draft. Perhaps the bad guys are giving it their all, in these, their final hours.

NOT!

If anything, they're probably just sticking out their tongues, na-na-na-boo-boo, at the legislators, trying to put an end to their menacing vocation. They know they have job security. Hell, they probably have their own union. "Hacker-Spam Local 666," or something.

They are laughing at you and me too. You see, now they have cornered the market on email. People like you and me, well... we can not use email as a marketing medium any more. They are not effected by CAN-SPAM, we are. Therefore, if we want to advertise via email, we will have to seek out a bulker, and pay whatever they want, to send out mail. (That makes you a spammer too.)

The gurus are definitely divided on this issue, to the point of being comedic. On one side, you have the gurus that are still pumping autoresponders, and mailers, new ezine subscription boosters, yatta-yatta-yatta... They act as though nothing is happening outside their world of profits. Then you have people like Jim Edwards, who is telling us how affiliate marketing is headed for the dumper. Well guess what? Jim doesn't know the half of it. That is just the tip of the iceberg. All email marketing is dead, not just affiliate programs. Personal email is on its way out too.

What are you going to do when you can no longer reach people via email? Go back to using the telephone, postal mail?

Why step backward when you can most certainly move forward? There is an alternative to email communication. The technology itself, is not new, but the application of it is, and it has unlimited potential.

I am sure you've noticed the little orange buttons that say XML, popping up on web pages recently. Webmasters are slowing beginning to realize the viral power of syndicating their content, using RSS/XML technology. However, content syndication is not the only trick this pup can do. You can replace email communication with it too.

If you think that the new spam laws enacted by the US FTC will not effect you, you are sadly mistaken. I don't care what the gurus are pumping you with; email, as we know it, has died. (Funeral services will be April 20, 2004.) Let it rest in peace. Your task is to move forward into the future, using technology that is far and away better than email ever was.

If you want to survive in business, you have to change the way you think and do things. Using RSS technology will not only allow you to survive the email crisis, but it will allow you to thrive with your online ventures.

I'm a little hot under the collar today...

Good Morning Dear Readers;
I was looking over the FrogSearch-It! channel this morning, and I noticed a comment on the page, that really makes me wonder about whether or not people really know what SPAM is.

Someone, who chooses to remain annonomous, except to leave the link of their web site, made this comment: "nice spammy page."

What is that supposed to mean? Spam is about email, not a web site or a channel feed. How can my channel be spammy?

So, for those who need enlightenment, I am going to define SPAM. Ready?

Here goes... Spam is any piece of electronic mail that has been sent to another entity, without consent. That means, if my ex husband sends me an email, without my permission, he is spamming me. If you send me an email without my permission, you are spamming me. It doesn't matter what is inside the email, personal or commercial, if I didn't ask for it, it is spam. That is the legal definition of spam folks.

Now, since my RSS Channel Feed is in no way, shape, or form, connected to email, there is no conceivable way that my page/channel can be "spammy."

This brings me to my next point... I publish via this medium, so that I don't use email. Why? So I can not ever spam anyone, intentionally or otherwise. I have no desire to infiltrate anyone's mailbox with unwanted crap. That would be counterproductive.

At the risk of offending everyone, I say, "If you aren't intelligent enough to know what you're talking about before you open your mouth, then shut the Hell up, and stay off my feed!" Yes, I am steamed about this little comment. You bet I am. I have no time for stupid people. Do you?

The only reason I still use email at all is because the rest of the world hasn't gotten it through their collective heads to switch to RSS. I receive way more email than I send. Are you frustrated with the number of scams that hit your inbox? I sure am. Frustrated and amazed as well. I am amazed that some of these scams are still circulating.

I think I received at least 15 emails yesterday, which were different variations of the South African muder victim scam. I know you are familair with it... "Help me transfer all this money, and I'll give you some." What is up with that? Are people still falling for that one? I would hope not.

Good Morning Dear Readers!

I suppose you are wondering why you haven't heard from me in a couple of weeks. Well, I do apologize for my absence. No excuses, I'll tell you why I was gone.

As I have said before, writing this zine is not what puts shoes on Tanner's feet. (Wouldn't it be great if it did?) All the other irons in the fire do make money, and one in particular. My other ventures have required a lot of me recently, and therefore, I could not meet my own deadlines.

As a result of this mental taxing going on, I took last weekend off, and spent it on a mental health break with my little Tanner. We took advantage of the 80 degree weather and spent all of our time outside, cleaning up the residue of winter. Our blooming flowers were demanding it.

Now, I have been heavily involved in several projects, that I would like to share with you. The first being the Quikonnex Quikview. If you don't already have it, you should really get it. It is a browser enhancement that you can use, no matter what browser you're using, or what OS you happen to run. It works with Windows, Linux and Mac too! To get it, just click on the QuikView link at the top of this page. Nothing to download.

Ok, now for project number two... This also has to do with Quikonnex. Quikonnex now has a conferencing system online, for all our members. It is FREE to all members. And It Is Awesome!

I wish I could take credit for the system itself, but I am just a writer, not a whiz kid. I just helped Jim and Carolyn test it, along with several other Quikonnex publishers.

I encourage you to contact Quikonnex online support, or log into the forum, for more information on this hummer. Finally, something free that is actually useful and funtional. Whooooooha!

The conferencing system is an awesome training tool, for any of you that train members of your own organizations.

Which brings me to my favorite project... My bread and butter business; LifetimeBusiness.com. Not only have I been very occupied with spreading the word of wellness, but I have been working diligently on utilizing the Q conferencing system to train the wonderful people in my business.

Do You Have What It Takes?

Today, there are millions of people, wanting to take control of their lives, wanting to do better for themselves, and are looking to the Internet for the solution.

Honestly, the Internet has vast potential to make dreams become a reality, but it is not a magic wand.

You can not start a business, any business, without some sort of monetary investment, time commitment, and effort. No matter what you have read, this is the bottom line. Those that promise immediate gains without effort, are simply out to get your cash. Period.

You should expect to invest a minimum of $100, to open a business online. Certainly a far cry from the brick and mortar start up costs, but an expense, nonetheless. Free just doesn't generate a positive cash flow. Free is the bait on many marketers' hooks, but it won't fill your belly any more than a minnow.

All businesses carry overhead. Overhead being the cost to maintain and operate the business. Granted, real world businesses carry larger overhead costs, mainly in employee expenses, but Internet businesses have their own costs as well.

Advertising
Web site hosting
Email and Auto response systems
Telephone charges
Internet access
... to name a few.

You must be prepared to meet these expenses. If you are not ready for them, you'd better rethink your position and take some extra time to get ready.

Time... It is laughable to think that one can own a business, spend a few hours a week working it, and make buckets of money from it. It amazes me how many people really think it is possible to work 5-10 hours a week on a home business and expect to make $5000/mo. doing it.

I, myself, put in more hours running my business from home, than I ever did working a regular job. The difference is that I am working for myself, not someone else. The schedule is mine and I keep the money generated. That is the trade-off.

Expect to put in your time. The business is but the ship, you are its captain, and without you, it won't sail.

Effort is something that must be expended to make a business flourish and profit. You have to dig in and get your hands dirty. Effort is the gas in the engine. You've got the ship, you're the captain, but without fuel, you're still sitting at the dock.

How long would you keep your job, if you expended no effort while on the clock? Your boss wouldn't stand for zero productivity, and neither will your business.

Don't be fooled by those that would have you beleive otherwise. They are the ones making buckets of money at your expense, while you sit there wondering where your cut is.

Before jumping in with both feet, make sure that you have the money, time and effort required, earmarked for your business.

The Bane of Online Business A.K.A. AOL

Are you one of the millions that subscribe to AOL? Are you attempting to do business online? Then you must read on...

AOL is killing your chances of success in business, and you are paying them to do it. In fact, using AOL for a business email account is like shooting yourself in the foot.

How can that be?

AOL's over zealous filtering practices are costing you money and robbing you of potential business partners and valuable resources. Their system is effectively trashing your opportunities without allowing you a choice in the matter. It's like flushing your income potential down the proverbial toilet.

They claim that they are doing you a service; protecting you from SPAM. Spam is what keeps them in business; it is how they built their business to its monsterous proportions. They've hyped it enough so that even governments have stepped to wage war on it. All the while, AOL is cashing in.

The protection they offer is a mask for censorship and power. They control your inbox, not you, allowing you only mail sent from specific sources. You only get what they want you to read.

It used to be that you could count on receiving mail from those listed in your AOL addressbook, (meaning AOL has access to that information...). No more though.

My cousin, and AOL user, does not receive the mail I send her, nor does a close friend of mine, who hasn't yet seen the light, and I reside in each of their contact lists. And here's the real kicker... They both report plenty of spam to deal with themselves.

Think using the reply feature will get a message through to an AOL user? Think again. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I have responded to email bearing an AOL address, just to have it rejected as, "SPAM."

It isn't a matter of potential business partners not WANTING to do business with you, it is that they CAN'T do business with you, because they can't reach you via email. The sickening reality of it is that you will never know how many times opportunity may have tried knocking, just to be shot dead, in the doorway, by your AOL butler.

To all AOL users that have ever written to me without recieving a response: I have answered you. Your butler just trashed my reply, in order to protect you from me.

As an AOL user, you are effectively being fed the best spam money can buy, in an attempt to control where you open your wallet. AOL advertisers, especially those with deep pockets, will always appear in your inbox. They pay good money to be there. The true purpose for their censorship is the removal of their own competition.

Does this make you angry, or what? If it doesn't, it should.

In the real world, mail tampering is a crime and censorship is protested.

Do your business a favor: Do not use an AOL, or a free email account as your business email. Get your own domain, host it and have 100% control over your mailboxes. Open yourself up to the opportunities that have been filtered out of your existence. Stop allowing outside sources to control whom you do business with. After all, it is your business.

I will even recommend a hosting service to help you get started.

I host all of my domains with Ultimate-Host.net. The customer service is second to none, and you will be up and running in no time. The Ultimate-Host actually took the time to personally teach me how to write HTML code, without the use of a fancy editor. That's right, he called me on the phone and in no time, I was writing code I couldn't even read before. Now that is what I call caring for your customers.

I am not one to throw money around either, and I definitely get my money's worth from my host. It costs me less than $15.00/mo to host each domain I own.

So, put the gun away, and take your wounded foot to the doctor. Host your own domain and start doing business with those who have been waiting to work with you.

Is It A Pleasure Working With You?

Think about that, a minute or two. Has anyone every told you that you were a pleasure to work with?

Let's get into it a little about ethics, credibility, partnerships and business relationships, shall we? How do others perceive you? Have you ever stopped to consider how your contacts might perceive you; as a person, as a business person? If not, take a few moments and do so now. Write down your thoughts while you're at it. This is very important to your success or failure... trust me.

Ask yourself these questions:

What do I expect from the people I do business with?
Do I offer these attributes to those I work with?
Do I keep appointments?
Do I return phone calls and email?
Do I do the things I say I am going to do?
Am I honest with my associates?
Can I focus on each of my relationships as necessary?
Do I honor my commitments?
Networking is about building relationships; that's for sure. But, it is also about maintaining them as well. What's the point of establishing a relationship, if you're not going to be a positive part of it? That's rather like a dog chasing its own tail. You get nowhere, and when you're through, you are exhausted.

Say you establish relationships with 10 people, and start doing business with each one of them. Then, let's say, that you are more interested in 5 of those ventures than in the other five. If you start giving more to the preferred 5, and neglect the remaining 5, the remaining 5 will write you off, and you have just lost half of your work in building those relationships in the first place. You've effectively wasted your own time, as well as theirs.

Now, the 5 that you blew off are not going to shout your praises. Usually one of two things will happen: (a) they could run around and tell everyone that you're a bad partner, or (b) they just write you off, and you've burned a bridge. Bridge burning is bad business. Every burned bridge brings you closer to becoming an island. Remember that.

This is not to say that you can't have your pet projects and preferred partners, but you still need to maintain the other relationships to retain your credibility. Once you establish a reputation as an unreliable, or dishonest partner, you'll find it more and more difficult to find people to work with. The end result, of course, is that all you've built will eventually fall apart.

Without a network, there is no business.

Credibility is perception. Credibility in business is everything. Without it, you may as well grab your hat and go home; the office is closed.

So, I ask... Are you a pleasure to work with?

Now For The Local News...

Trii has a little something to crow about!

For those of you who don't know much about me, or my family, My oldest son (14) and husband are studying martial arts together. They have been attending classes at the, "AFKO Karate Academy, of Naturita," for quite some time now, and began competing, in tournaments, last spring.

Last night, they came home with some really awesome news! Their school, AFKO, is the Western Colorado Karate League's School of the Year, for 2003! I think that is very impressive for a school that has been open for less than 3 years. Not to mention, the school is located in a town as small and remote as my own (Nucla, Colorado, only 5 miles up the hill).

The school itself wasn't the only award winner . More than 7 students have been honored as well! Two of them hold a special place in my heart...

My son, Jerimiah, is the Youth Competitor of the Year and placed first in Youth Colored Belt Kata and second in YCB Kumite. Way to go Jeri!

My husband, Jeff Sonnenberg, is actually a more amazing success. After spending more than 6 months on the bench, due to pneumonia, he too was an award winner! Jeff placed 4th In Adult Colored Belt Kata and third in Kumite.

Jeff and Jeri both, will be competing as red belts, in the National Competition in New Mexico, next month!

Sensei, Reed Mitchell, must be very proud of his students, and himself. I am proud to say that Reed is not only Jeff and Jeri's instructor, but a personal friend as well.

Reed, and his wife Michelle, came to Naturita from the big city life, elsewhere. They built a beautiful house here and opened the Mountain West Realty, Coldwell Banker office.

What impresses me most about Reed Mitchell? What I truly respect is the fact that he moved into a small community, not having any connections here, saw a need, and quite successfully filled it, . He is a man of action and generous heart.

He came to realize, very quickly, that in the two towns of Nucla and Naturita, there was an ample stock of children, but nothing local, for them to do. (The nearest shopping mall or movie theater is 110 miles away.) As we all know, when kids are bored, they tend to get into trouble.

Being a martial artist, 2nd Dan, he decided to share his passion for karate, and give the kids, and adults, something to do. Every Tuesday and Thursday evening, you can see, white gi and colorful belts, filing into the Coldwell Banker building, for instruction, in the building's lower level dojo.

Not only has Reed successfully tapped a niche market, and built a business, but he did it using something he felt passionate about, and he improved a community in the process. The kids in the area are definitely better for it.

My own son has become a totally different person, since he began the study of martial arts. He went from being an introverted, timid boy, to an extremely self-confident, considerate, respectful young man.

Consider also, the fact that he came here, as an outsider, and built a successful business. He did not have the advantage of local contacts, or known credibility. He had to establish himself publicly. He went out and made contacts, got involved in the community, got to know people. He took action, worked hard at it, and achieved what he set out to do.

Work is not work when you love what you do.

Find something you are passionate about and go with it!

Happy Ground Hog's Day!

Good Morning Dear Reader;

I would like to offer my apologies to anyone that tried to reach me via email, or visited tlcpromotions.net, recently. I have been experiencing some temporary technical challenges, due to my recent change of servers.

There really wasn't anything wrong with my previous hosting company, I just out grew them. I need to have more control, over how my web site functions, than they were allowing.

So, anywho... the transfer of the domains tlcpromotions.net and trinaschiller.com have been slower than usual. I imagine that this is most likely due to the server touble many hosts were recently experiencing. (read about that here)

The end result of all of this is that I've experienced some down-time, and some email back up. If you've written recently, and I have not replied, this is the reason. Some of my mail is still floating in cyber-space.

This has been a bit disappointing for me as well. I have had so much going on, and so much to bend your proverbial ear over, but I haven't had the chance to share it all.

Look for daily updates this week, so I can get you up to speed.

Never fear... You'll be hearing all about everything very soon.

Sick & Tired of Hearing About Spam Yet?

I know I sure am! Everyone complains about spam, the US government tries to control it through useless legislation, marketers take advantage of it, and the spam still flies!

Now that everyone, but the spammers, are freaking out about getting busted for spam, shrewd marketers are cashing in, by feeding your paranoia with ads asking if you are compliant. After all, we must comply with the laws governing the United States of America. Never mind the fact that the bulk of spam comes from countries other than the US...

Back to the issue at hand though... What the new spam laws have actually done is to provide spamming and non-spamming marketers alike, another product to sell, making them a small fortune.
"Are You Compliant ? Get this to find out... Not Compliant? Buy this to get that way."
What is the reason to be dealing with any of it at all? All you have to do is to stop using email. [grin] You heard me right. I said stop using email. There is a better alternative; I use it every day. Not only do I publish both my zines without email, but I also receive private messages without email. In fact, the best way for anyone to reach me is not to send me an email, but to use my private messenger instead

What am I talking about? I am referring to none other than RSS Channeling.
The following is an exerpt from a forum post, at Quikonnex.com, the RSS system I personally use and recommend:

The foundation of the Quikonnex service is a first-rate content management system with muli-media capabilities, which is how the channels are created and organized. Supporting this is a powerful database running on servers with enormous capacity to ensure optimum content delivery for all publishers. RSS comes into play at this point, because that is how the "feed" from the channel is created.

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary. Essentially, it a protocol, an application of XML, which is written to a file and thus will allow syndication and aggregation of online content from a content management system. RSS files are used to create a "data feed" which will deliver headlines, links or, in fact, just about anything, to a channel viewer application, like QuikView.

The Quikonnex system automates this entire process for publishers. All they have to do is add new articles, what we call items, to their channel using the channel manager, and an RSS feed file is created automatically for that channel. Anyone who has subscribed to that channel will then see the new items in their channel viewer, without having to surf to the channel page. The new information will be brought to them, automatically, they will not have to go looking for it.

Because this delivery system is reliable and direct to subscribers, it is a logical replacement for email delivery of information, particularly in one-to-many situations. There is no need for subscribers to opt-in or confirm their subscriptions, they simply add the publisher's feed to their channel viewer and they are securely connected to all new information. No lost or blocked email worries for either publisher or subscriber.

A statistics package has been integrated into the Quikonnex system, to provide publishers with detailed information on their readership. Publishers will be able to see how often their channel has been viewed, and will also have live, current statistics down to the individual item level. It will be easy for publishers to determine how well each of their articles has been received by their subscribers.

Both open-chat and private messaging systems have been included in the Quikonnex system. These features enable direct interaction between publishers and subscribers so that communication is two-way. This is vital to publishers who wish to develop and maintain a close and open relationship with their subscribers.

Qsearch is our proprietary media-rich search engine, which makes it easy for subscribers to find articles of interest to them, and to immediately subscribe to the channels in which they find those articles. By default, all items are available to Qsearch, but publishers do have the option to make any item private, if they choose. New publishers can add old newsletter articles to their channels and make them available to Qsearch, thus building their own searchable database of information.

As you can see, this is a much better alternative to email publishing. It just makes sense.
Stop running around like a chicken with your head cut off... Dump email and investigate Channeling. It is going to save you a lot of time, money and stress.

I still use email for certain things, of course, but I use it less and less each day. The people that really are interested in contacting me, the ones I truly want to communicate with, reach me via my messenger, not my mailbox.

...We'll Even Give You a Killer Sales Letter...

How many affiliate programs have you seen, that offer to give you the best in sales copy, with which to promote the affiliate product? Quite a few, right?

How is this promise qualified? Has the ad been tested? Maybe, maybe not. Who's to tell. Even if it has been tested, does that automatically guarantee that the same copy will produce the same results for you, Joe Blow, or John Q.?

No, it most certainly does not. In fact, the killer copy you're given will actually be less successful, than any test run may have been. Furthermore, the copy writer knows that this is the case before the copy is even written.

The reason the copy won't do as well for you, or anyone else that uses it, is pretty basic. By the time you get it and start promoting it, several hundred to thounsand, other people are using it too. It has already shown up in the mailboxes of the masses, and through repetition, it has already become obsolete.

I'm not saying, throw your affiliate sales letters in the trash, or not to bother promoting them at all. Use those letters! By all means use them... as a template. Use their concept, information, even the testimonials, but re-write it in your own style. With the exception of the testimonials, which should always be real and quoted, make the copy your own. It will get noticed more that the same ol', same ol'.

The same holds true for the use of affiliate web sites, but that is a conversation for another time.

You hear the click, the buzzer sounds, now you're sliding down the chute to no-man's land.
Are you afraid of being rejected when you're attempting to present your business to someone else? Is your whole day shot because someone had the nerve to hang up on you? Is the fear of rejection keeping you from making those calls in the first place?
What in the heck for?
When calling leads for your business, and someone hangs up on you, you should be thankful that they didn't opt to waste your time. Move on to the next name on the list.
Remember that the person you just called, is the one that lost out on what you had to offer, you didn't lose anything. You haven't lost your best friend, Santa will still visit you, and the person that was on the other end of the line will most likely forget your name with in minutes of ending the call.
"What if they are rude to me?"
Very politely tell them that you can already see that they are not the kind of person you are looking to team up with, and to have a nice day.
You should never personalize the response you receive. The person you're dealing with may:
1. have had a bad day
2. have just received 200 other sales calls
3. not have been feeling well, or may not have the time to talk with you right then

You never know what is going on with them, so you should never assume the problem lies with you. They are responsible for their own actions and reaction, not you.
Whatever the reason for their attitude, you can be certain that it is nothing personal toward you. (They don't even know you, so how could you possibly be the source of their discomfort?) It has everything to do with them, and where they are at, at the moment you contacted them.
Get over it and call the next guy.
If you allow the fear of rejection to prevent you from making those calls, you will never move forward in your business. Moreover, you will have no one to blame but yourself, when your business fails.
We are all just ordinary people. No laser beams are going to come through the phone line, no one is going to tell your friends bad things about you; you will lose nothing.
There is nothing lost as the result of action, only through inaction do you stand to lose.
If you really think about it, you are just as faceless over the phone as you are via an e-mail. The phone call; however, gets your foot in the door. E-mail is too unreliable to even get you that far.
Pick up the phone and make a new friend/partner. Don't let the fear of rejection keep you from the success you desire.

As I enjoy my holiday hiatus, reflecting on my own good fortune, I got to thinking about my goals for the coming year. No, this isn’t the first time I’ve thought about this topic; I feel that this goal setting business should be a constant thing.

I am totally tired of all the MLM programs, downline clubs, money-for-nothing deals… all the crapola, invading your bank accounts! I see new junk popping up all the time. Bogus programs with big promises and zero return proliferate. That doesn’t mean they work, it just means that they are out there, and even the experienced marketer may fall prey, sometimes.
I have tried many things myself, reviewed many more [companies/programs] and I have only found one that really is what it says it is. Just one!
This one company has been stable from the get-go, and has paid me every month, since joining in 2001. My company has delivered on every promise, every guarantee, and no exceptions.
I was promised no risk… There was none.
I was promised a healthier lifestyle… I have one.
I was promised a solid marketing plan… I have that.
I was promised a product to take pride in… I do.
I was promised a residual income… I get paid.

Good Morning Dear Readers!
I would like to take this opportunity to say that I value each and every one of you. You are the reason that I am here, and I am glad that you felt this publication worth experiencing change for.
I am referring to this new method of delivery, of course. I hope you are enjoying not having to find me in your mailbox, amid the sea of spam, in order to keep up with the Internet. I am enjoying not having to worry about whether or not you're receiving this information.
Many people have asked me about whether or not I am afraid of losing readers because I choose not to email my zine anymore. Well, at first I was. I'd be a liar if I said anything different. I had to change my way of thinking, that's all.
Time for logic to take over.
The way I saw it, was the way I had been told, by gurus, to see it. The money is in the list, and the bigger the list the better. WRONG!
Of course, if you have a list of 100,000 actual buyers, that's one thing... But how many publishers actually have that kind of conversion ratio? None. Think about it, how big would your list have to be to generate 100,000 actual buyers?
So what good is 100,000 subscribers, if you're only getting the attention of 250 of them? The rest are spam complaints waiting to happen. That is what I had to come to grips with. The ones that never respond are the ones that are potentially dangerous to my business, and I'm better cutting them loose any way.
All of you that have gone through the process of subscribing to my zine via RSS are the people I want to write and publish for. The ones that thought it too much trouble, are not. I don't care about them. I do care about you.
That isn't meant to sound harsh, but the reality of it is very simple: The ones that couldn't make the conversion probably never read me any way. They probably don't even realize that we've made this change, and haven't even noticed my absence from their mailboxes.
I once had a list of 7500 subscribers that took over two hours to mail to. Do I miss that? Not in the least. Why? Because I have woken up to the fact that just because all of those people hit my subscriber responder, doesn't mean they all read my zine, no matter how diligently I clean it.
I write for those who want to read, for you; not for those who are looking for a free ad.

Taking Responsibility for the Spam in Your Mailbox

Where did it all start? Why is your mailbox full of junk mail? Why you can’t make it stop.

Think back to the first time you accessed the Internet. You’ve got your very first e-mail account, and you’re ready to start surfing.

Are you there yet? Good.

I bet you felt rather like a kid let loose at a carnival, right? Everything in True Color; the sounds, the speed… Perhaps you felt powerful, or anxious. Whatever the feeling, it made your heart beat. After all, now you had access to the rest of the world!

You could now find out information on any topic that happened to tickle your funny bone; go shopping, buy a house, plan a vacation, and even play games and gamble, all without leaving home. And look at all the FREE stuff! Wow!

All you ever had to do, to enjoy all these wonderful things, was to fill out a form. Every time you shopped, sent an e-card, requested information, played games, you gladly gave out your information; name, email address, etc..

How many contests, lotteries, or sweepstakes did you enter? How many newsletters have you signed up for, to get the freebie?

Are you beginning to get the picture? You gave your email address to everyone. You were added to list after list, by your very own doing. Lists are bought and sold all of the time.

Let me ask you this… Do you have a Yahoo toolbar, or any other add-on toolbar, that didn’t come with your browser? If you’re like most people, you do. And like most people, you are probably not aware that your handy-dandy toolbar is spying on you!

That’s right, Yahoo, Alexa, Bonzi, Gator and the like, all have spyware/ADWARE programmed into them. That means that every time you are using your browser, running that toolbar, you’re information is being sucked right off your computer for the purpose of sending you Unsolicited Commercial Email.

My advice is to scan your computer for spyware, get rid of it and the toolbar that brought it. Here is some good freeware you can download to clean up a bit: http://download.com.com/3000-2144-10194058.html?tag=lst-0-1 If you really want to have a toolbar, I will give you one that has No ADWARE Included. Go ahead and pick it up here: http://www.tlcpromotions.net/Frogseach/toolbar.htm Get rid of all of the garbage on your system before you install it. Then run that scan again after installing this toolbar, and you’ll see that it doesn’t contain anything it’s not supposed to.

Your own ISP may also be a source of your spam woes. Depending upon what service you use, of course, but some ISPs are the biggest spammers of them all. Not only do they puke junk mail into your mailbox, but they are also notorious for censoring the mail you’re wanting, needing, and expecting. A letter from Aunt Sally could end up in the trash just because she told you about the Free Manicure and Free Coffee, she got last Tuesday.

Again, you allow them to do this. How? By continuing to use the service they provide. By not complaining about the mail you don’t get. You do it by paying them to decide what you’re going to see.

The next time you freak out about the mess in your mailbox, remember that you are responsible for most of it yourself.

I can hear you thinking, “But I never went to a porn site, and I don’t even have a penis to enlarge!”

Granted, some of the crap that gets into your inbox is not of your own doing. There are real SPAMMERS out there, yes indeed! These parasitic individuals are professionals at what they do. They keep themselves ten steps ahead of the anti-spam technology, and don’t care about laws. You will never be rid of them. So, I suggest you get a grip right now. I don’t like it any more than you do, but it is the truth of the matter. Deal with it!

You don’t go crying to the police whenever you get a post box filled with junk mail; you throw it in the trash, so why should your email box be any different? If you don’t like it, your only option, at this point, is to quit using email.

Obituary
Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend by the name of Common Sense who has been with us for many years.
No one knows for sure how old he was since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.
He will be remembered as having cultivated such valued lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm and that life isn't always fair.
Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not kids, are in charge).
His health began to rapidly deteriorate when well intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a six-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate, teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch, and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student only worsened his condition.
It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer aspirin to a student but could not inform the parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.
Finally, Common sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband, churches became businesses and criminals received better treatment than their victims.
Common Sense finally gave up the ghost after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot, spilled it in her lap, and was awarded a huge settlement.
Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust, his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason. He is survived by two stepbrothers; My Rights and Ima Whiner.
Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.

Good Afternoon Everyone!

I do apologize for being tardy today. I hope you’ll forgive me, but I spent all of yesterday shopping for Thanksgiving dinner, and Tanner’s birthday.
My soon-to-be 6-year-old was born on Thanksgiving Day, 1997, and this year his birthday falls on the holiday again. So, there’s been much going on here.

I am very fortunate to be able to schedule my work around my life.

I remember the days of begging to get the day off to watch my son’s soccer game, or the dread that gripped me when I had to call in sick, because my kid had a fever.
It seemed I never really got a day off, even when I wasn’t scheduled at work. My days off were filled with all the errands I was unable to run any other day, and housework. Worse yet, I was one of the millions of people that are not allowed to have weekends and holidays off.

I loved my job, but hated my boss and was disgusted with never having free time with my son. It makes me shiver just to think about it.

As I said earlier; I am fortunate. Now I love my vocation! My time is my own, and when my kids need me, I am there. I even have the time to volunteer in the kindergarten class!

Thank you for being a part of my good fortune. Don’t ever give up. If I can achieve this lifestyle, you can too.

Would you like to know what my job was prior to this?

I was a union worker, in the meat department of a Cub Foods grocery store. No lie!

A wonderful thing has happened to ezine advertising… It occurred to me that my advertising packages no longer fit the format of the zine. That is to say that I can’t exactly sell solo e-mail advertising if I am no longer sending e-mail. Following that thought was this one: Trii-Zine advertising can be permanent!
Since everything posted remains posted unless I remove it, ads placed can be seen forever.
The Perpetual Solo Ad was born!
Think of it… when you run a typical solo ezine ad, it runs once. The ezine readers see it one time and then it’s gone. Not when you place a Trii-Zine ad. So, you get more for your money this way.
