The rest will<br />simply be scanned. I'm sure you've heard the statistic before. <br />It's nothing new.  While it might sound frightening or<br />frustrating, it's a fact of copywriting life.  So what do you do<br />next?  Give up?  What difference does it make if only about 20%<br />will be read anyway?</p><p>It makes a world of difference.  Especially if you understand<br />that there are some sections of your copy that are practically<br />guaranteed to get read.  If you know what these are and work to<br />reinforce them, you'll see your conversions increase<br />dramatically whether your copy is geared toward online or<br />offline promotions.</p><p>HEADLINES</p><p>Headlines have always been and will always be the most important<br />section in any copy.  They are the first thing to get read and<br />have the greatest impact on whether any of the other copy gets<br />read. Those stories you've seen floating around the Internet<br />about marketers who have made minute changes to a headline and<br />tripled their conversion rates are true.  It happens all the<br />time.  In fact, it's happened to me.  </p><p>Headlines and sub-headlines can guide your visitors to read<br />deeper into your copy. If you set up a structure of progressive<br />headlines</p><p><br /><a href="http://marketingwords.com/articles/articles_progressheadlines.html">http://marketingwords.com/articles/articles_progressheadlines.html</a>, you'll have a better shot getting your point across. Pay a lot of attention to your headline.  It's the powerhouse of your copy.</p><p>CAPTIONS</p><p>Captions started with newspaper journalists. When they would run<br />a picture with a story, they would add a few words underneath to<br />explain what or who the picture was of. People got into the<br />habit of looking for the captions in order to relate the<br />importance of the image with the information they were<br />receiving.  This still holds true. Captions in advertising<br />pieces are highly read.  Don't waste the space!</p><p>FIRST SENTENCES</p><p>When you scan something -- an article, a book, a newspaper, a<br />magazine, a website -- what do you read?  Almost everyone reads<br />the first sentence of each paragraph. These sentences are<br />vitally important in order to get your potential customers<br />interested enough to keep reading.  If you create exceptional<br />first sentences, one of two things will happen.  One: The<br />prospect will be more likely to continue reading the copy. Two:<br />The first sentences in each paragraph will be enough to convince<br />him/her to buy.</p><p>FIRST IN BULLETED LIST</p><p>Just as with the first sentence in each paragraph, people also<br />almost always read the first entry in a bulleted list. If it<br />hits home, they might keep reading.  But, knowing that you have<br />their attention for at least one second, always make sure your<br />first bullet point is extremely powerful and enticing.</p><p>PS's</p><p>Writing a direct mail or Web sales letter?  The PS is another<br />hot spot.  Take advantage of this real estate. Repeat offers,<br />remind readers of bonuses, reinforce guarantees or recap<br />limited-time offers.  This section is the final pitch before<br />your reader either acts or trashes your copy so make it count.</p><p>Have you noticed something about these five sections?  Why do<br />you think they are virtually guaranteed to get read in any piece<br />of copy?  They are unusual.  They are limited. They stand out. <br />They are eye-catching.</p><p>You only have a limited number of headlines and sub-heads in<br />copy.  They are almost always offset by bolding or underlining<br />so they easily catch the eye of the reader. Captions only appear<br />when there are images.  They do not appear all throughout the<br />copy.  First sentences are also rare.  Only one sentence in each<br />paragraph can be the first one.  This tells the reader to keep<br />going or jump to another section that might be of more interest.<br /> First entries in bulleted lists are unusually formatted and<br />catch the eye of the reader.  PS's?  There's only one, and since<br />it's the last thing on the page, most often, it stands out too.</p><p>These rare elements give you five guaranteed shots at building<br />curiosity, promoting benefits, generating interest and closing<br />sales. If you participate on Google adwords campaigns<br />or Overture, you must already pay a lot for your campaigns.</p><p>What is click fraud?</p><p>Click fraud is the deliberate clicks to PPC search engine<br />ads for completely other reasons than expressing interest<br />for buying the related products or services. Overture<br />defines click fraud as clicks arising for reasons other<br />than the good-faith intention of an Internet user to visit<br />a web site to purchase goods or services or to obtain<br />information.</p><p>Google defines click fraud, or invalid clicks, as any<br />method used to artificially and/or maliciously generate<br />clicks or page impressions. In simple words, Click fraud<br />means that someone is cheating you and that you pay too<br />much for your pay per click campaigns.  Who is doing that? <br />Three main groups click on pay per click ads, without real<br />interest in the offered goods:</p><p>People who joined Google AdSense or other per click<br />affiliate programs click on the ads on their own web site<br />to make a little income. Often, these people cooperate with<br />other webmasters to click on each other's ads.</p><p>Some unethical companies click on the pay per click ads of<br />competitors to drive up their advertising costs.</p><p>Companies (often in India, Russia and China) hire people<br />who are paid to click on ads. Google and other search<br />networks provide refunds to advertisers when click fraud<br />has been discovered. Google and Overture employ &quot;fraud<br />squads,&quot; or teams of people dedicated to fighting click<br />schemes. But at least two marketing executives say such<br />countermeasures are missing fraudulent clicks that are<br />responsible for between 5 percent and 20 percent of<br />advertising fees paid to all search networks.</p><p>This is a huge problem. There is no 'pay per click' Company<br />denying that click fraud exists. Web analytics companies<br />estimates that the 50% of all click activity is fraudulent.<br />This means that your pay per click marketing activities are<br />half effective as they could be because of click fraud.</p><p>Overture spokeswoman Jennifer Stephens refutes that<br />estimate, saying that the numbers likely represent acts of<br />fraud that are ultimately caught. She added that Overture<br />filters most fraudulent clicks with the best antifraud<br />system in the industry, which combines technology and human<br />analysis. Most advertisers are aware of the click-fraud<br />issue but have not delved into it because of the technical<br />complexities involved. Others are concerned that they could<br />jeopardize their relationships with the powerful search<br />networks if they complain too loudly.</p><p>One of the best ways to eliminate click fraud is using anti<br />click fraud services such as ppctrax (<a href="http://www.ppctrax.com">www.ppctrax.com</a>).<br />They provide services like the below:</p><p>* IP address capture.<br />* IP address geographic Location.<br />* User Agent (browser, bot etc.)</p><p>See exactly what keywords are generating your clicks Date<br />and Time stamp System detects sudden click spikes from one<br />or more IP addresses</p><p>Real-time email alerts at 80% and 100% of your account's<br />transaction utilization IP address history - alert you to<br />prior offenders Another similar service is 'who is clicking<br />who': <a href="http://www.whosclickingwho.com">http://www.whosclickingwho.com</a>. I tend to get VERY<br />picky over WHAT I choose to publish.</p><p>The gurus teach us that writing articles is one of the best<br />free ways to advertise our site. This is generally true,<br />because publishers ARE looking for QUALITY content to<br />publish as they see fit.</p><p>However, there seems to be an influx of articles that seem<br />to be missing some key elements.</p><p>1.) SOME articles have NO resource box (this is where the<br />author should put in a small bit about himself and a link<br />to their website). Generally, these should be about 5 to 6<br />lines in length.</p><p>2.) SOME articles are NOT formatted correctly. The text is<br />sometimes hard to read, especially in email.</p><p>3.) Some have grammatical or spacing errors. These are easy<br />enough to fix, however, some articles require you to do NO<br />editing whatsoever.</p><p>Some points to consider when writing:</p><p>A.) Start reading the articles writen by the well known<br />names Willie Crawford, Stone Evans, Kathleen Gage, and<br />others.</p><p>Notice their style, how their points are presented, how<br />easily the flow of writing is noticed.</p><p>B.) It's ok to be new at writing ...I'd even be so bold to<br />suggest the new author request feedback from publishers ...<br />publishers recognize effort and are usually willing to<br />offer constructive comments &amp; suggestions :)</p><p>Ponderings:</p><p>As I search for new articles I can use for my channel or my<br />ezine, I wonder about the resource box and the way those<br />are written.</p><p>I've actually seen some pretty obvious claims IN the<br />resource box.</p><p>I may even click the link, just out of curiosity. Since I<br />am a publisher, and since I DO sell advertising space, Am I<br />responsible for WHAT the author has written IN his resource<br />box?</p><p>What about the website that the link in the resource box<br />leads to? Would I be reponsible IF the website doesn't have<br />the proper disclaimers ... for the sales copy on that<br />website, IF it had blatant or implied claims?</p><p>I think there's a strong possibility I would be.</p><p>Perhaps you disagree. Are your e-books on <br />self improvement topics stacking up......have you make any <br />changes since the new year? What about those videos and <br />audios? Watch out, it's not impossible<br />to imagine internet companies asking for a handwritten<br />application.</p><p><br />The premise here is that integrity is valuable, but often<br />remains un-checked. Seemingly, with just the stroke of a<br />pen..... analysts can tap into a person's thought process<br />AND emotional state, in order to learn about that person's<br />achievements and communication skills. That's amazing! This<br />is sometimes referred to as &quot;brainwriting.&quot;</p><p><br />These assessments have been described as the graphic<br />manifestation of a person's thought patterns and behaviors.<br />It can give us a glimpse into the sub-conscious mind. Like<br />that dashboard in your car, it's NOT bad or good. It just<br />informs!</p><p><br />In Europe, graphology is accepted as a science for hiring<br />candidates. It's a replacement to intrusive and relatively<br />unreliable, personality and character testing. Supervision<br />is a main concern here. Sales people remain UN-Supervised<br />in the field, so character is a CRITICAL issue. Some people<br />believe that handwriting analysis saves time, money and<br />morale because these companies believe that the right<br />people have been selected for their business relationships.<br />People may temporarily change over time BUT....their traits<br />basically remain the same.</p><p><br />Gee, I bet you thought you just scribbled! Business systems<br />are In search of balance because Un-ethical Conduct has<br />recently been bursting AT the seams. Creative solutions<br />appear to BE rising in popularity! There are people who can't understand that what we <br />do is REAL work. Family support makes life easier when we <br />decide to work at home. However, sometimes it just doesn't <br />come easily with our e-territory.<br /> </p><p>The Recipe for Saving Your Sanity.........<br /> </p><p>Earning family respect for what you do can be a real chore. <br />Mutual understanding, patience and cooperation will always<br />be a tremendous help. Sanity and Success don't come without <br />a time price-tag. We invest in whatever it takes in time, <br />effort and cash, to make these things and our family lives, <br />work-out for us. What does this require? </p><p><br />It's different for each of us because our income needs vary. <br />Single parents with 2 or 3 kids, might not have the income <br />that double wage-earners bring to the e-table. We really <br />can't judge a book by an e-cover when it boils down to <br />earning a living. <br /> </p><p>If you've been around e-sales a while, you probably already <br />know how to maintain and manage your primary accounts. If <br />you're one of those salespeople who earn a living with <br />e-skills, be on the look-out for the shoemaker's kids <br />who go around without shoes. Neglect, drive and dedication <br />are very different things. <br /> </p><p>Take your &quot;honey&quot; to lunch - schedule key dates in advance. <br />EACH year mark key dates to remember. You'll hardly ever <br />have complete control over time, but your aim here is <br />shooting for a &quot;quality&quot; of acceptable family time and <br />in some instances, this can BE exceptional due to the <br />flexibility that our e-sales-life, permits. Long working <br />hours are not easy on anybody, no matter what kind of work <br />you do. IS there such a thing as quality time if you're an <br />internet home-worker? <br /> </p><p>Quantity is probably what counts the most. If your financial <br />life dictates that you must give your &quot;all&quot; for the company, <br />do the best you can, to give equal time and quality<br />commitments to your family. By Kathleen Gage<br /> </p><p>As a business advisor I work with clients helping them gain<br />visibility within their market. Without sounding too<br />arrogant or bold I can safely say I have earned the right<br />to do this. The primary reason is because the very<br />strategies I teach my clients are the same tactics that<br />have afforded me a great deal of visibility within my<br />market. It is this visibility that sets me apart from my<br />competition. </p><p>There is incredible power and profit that comes from<br />visibility. The more visible you are to your market the<br />more you will be the person a client calls when the need<br />for your product or service arises. Hands down - visibility<br />is a primary aspect of one's marketing.  Unfortunately,<br />many people either don't know how to gain the visibility<br />that sets them apart from their competition or they aren't<br />willing to put the time into creating it. Worse yet, they<br />may have someone who is doing their marketing that really<br />doesn't know how to position the client for maximum<br />exposure. </p><p>So how do you go about gaining massive visibility within<br />your market? Actually, it is very simple. Not necessarily<br />easy, but it is a simple formula. It is all about<br />developing systems and being very strategic in your<br />approach to implementation of the system. </p><p>Gaining recognition is about becoming &quot;famous&quot; to a<br />targeted group of people. By famous, I am not referring to<br />world renowned. Fame in the context I am using simply means<br />being visible to those people who make the decision to<br />utilize and purchase your products or services. It is in<br />this fame, or name recognition, the process of selling<br />becomes one of being a problem solver rather than an order<br />taker.</p><p>Gaining visibility within your market does not have to be<br />an expensive proposition. On the other hand there will be<br />occasions you will need to make strategically planned<br />financial investments.</p><p>Many uninformed individuals assume advertising is all<br />that's necessary to market their business and gain name<br />recognition. Advertising is only a part of your marketing,<br />not marketing in and of itself.  Unfortunately, many people<br />waste countless dollars on ineffective ad campaigns because<br />they were led to believe an ad was all it took for them.<br />This happens both offline and online. </p><p>Prior to the use of the Internet in marketing campaigns, I<br />saw person after person taken advantage of by a slick<br />account executive who offered some amazing ad campaign. A<br />campaign that was just too tempting for the uninformed<br />client to resist. </p><p>Often, the campaigns were so cheap that the client simply<br />signed on without any research. Unfortunately, many of the<br />campaigns were very ineffective. The primary reason was<br />because there were so many missing elements including who<br />the target market was. </p><p>Now that the Internet has become an integral part of many<br />marketing campaigns, the same thing is happening online as<br />has been happening for decades offline. People are buying<br />into campaigns without doing the necessary research. </p><p>To succeed, you must take a holistic approach to<br />positioning you and your company. Again, one way to enjoy<br />success is to gain visibility within your market. </p><p>However, before you will obtain the name recognition you<br />desire you have to lay a solid foundation. The place to<br />begin is to know your market. A few things to consider are.</p><p>Who do you want to sell to and who would buy your product<br />or service? Gender Age Income level Industries or<br />professions Education Interests and hobbies Geographic<br />region Association involvement Lifestyle</p><p>From there you have a number of avenues you can take to<br />gain visibility. One of the most effective is to host a<br />complimentary informational event, seminar or workshop. It<br />positions you as an expert and you are a resource before<br />you are a vendor. </p><p>Events can have as few as 6 people in a workshop on up to a<br />500 person event. Many people miss this incredible<br />opportunity because they don't think they can present. My<br />response is you are presenting all the time. It's just a<br />matter of what you are presenting. </p><p>With the power of the Internet you can set up a system that<br />allows you to continually host information seminars and<br />costs very little to market. All your marketing efforts<br />should lead people back to your website. </p><p>A website is really intended to be more than just an<br />electronic brochure. It should be something that gets<br />people to take action, provides great information, is<br />updated on a regular basis and is something people can use<br />as a resource. </p><p>Set up you web site so that people can leave their contact<br />information. Offer something of value to your market such<br />as a free report, an Ezine, an Ebook or anything that<br />creates a compelling enough reason for viewers to give you<br />their information. </p><p>This can be done with an autoresponder. The purpose of the<br />autoresponder is to automate the process and develop a<br />database for future marketing efforts. Many people do<br />nothing at all to get contact information from the dozens,<br />hundreds or thousands of visitors to their sites. This is<br />simply missed opportunity.</p><p>Develop a list of local media contacts you can send a press<br />release to if the event is open to the public. Find out<br />what their criteria for sending in a release via email is.<br />Many will not open any attachments. So if you are sending<br />an attached document to the media there is a good chance<br />they won't read it. </p><p>Make sure the release is short and to the point. Simply<br />put, the Who, What, When, Where and Why. Many releases do<br />not get read or published due to being poorly written or<br />too lengthy.</p><p>Write articles with a topic that is connected to the<br />information seminar you are offering. Send these out to<br />various locations online such as Yahoo Groups. Add a<br />compelling byline that encourages people to visit your<br />website. </p><p>You can also send the article out in an Ezine format to<br />those people who are in your database. This is the very<br />reason you want to be able to collect people's contact<br />information from your website. If they leave you their<br />contact information chances are very good they are<br />interested in you and your products, services and various<br />offerings.  </p><p>So as not to miss those folks who are not in your online<br />database you will be well served to also send out a direct<br />mail piece. This piece is used to announce the event and<br />should encourage people to visit your website to sign up<br />for the event. </p><p>If you are strategic marketing the event you will most like<br />gain some free publicity for yourself and your company. </p><p>The day of the presentation you absolutely must make sure<br />people have a stellar experience. This would include the<br />actual presentation being one that is so content filled<br />that even if people never buy a thing from you they feel<br />they have received incredible value.</p><p>Within 24 hours of the session send out a thank you letter<br />highlighting key points you made during your presentation.<br />Depending on your market the letter can be sent out via<br />email. Mention in the letter that you would enjoy speaking<br />at either their company or an association meeting. You will<br />be amazed at how many opportunities this can generate if<br />your initial presentation exceeded expectations. </p><p>Your success with this process will be determined by how<br />consistent you are in keeping your name if front of your<br />market. I have witnessed time and again people who will try<br />this method once, get busy with other things and then let<br />the system drop. What an absolute waste. </p><p>With the system outlined I have successfully promoted<br />events in my market that have cost me less than $50 in<br />marketing costs and realized a return of tens of thousands<br />of dollars in revenue from subsequent sales. However, I<br />have been using this system for years and am very<br />consistent in my process. </p><p>As you consider the things you can do to increase your<br />visibility and who you may choose to work with on your<br />marketing, a couple of questions you need to ask are, &quot;Am I<br />willing to put the right systems in place to gain the<br />result I want?&quot; and &quot;Does the person I am considering to<br />help me market my business know how to market their own<br />business?&quot; The answers will help to determine your level of<br />success. </p><p>Do you want to gain massive visibility within your market?<br />Kathleen Gage can help you do just that. Generally speaking, it's human<br />nature to look at potential business contacts and compare<br />them to past experiences. Resist this instinct. You should<br />take each situation through single qualification steps,<br />until you know what is going on with them. Give each<br />&quot;suspect&quot; a fair chance to become a prospect. Every<br />prospect should have an equal chance to become a customer.<br />This will always require patience. At the least, practice<br />a partial suspension of quick judgment. Ask questions and<br />always give the benefit of the doubt. This can pay off when<br />you least expect it to work for you.</p><p><br />Business is NOT always Business as usual BUT....that crummy-<br />sounding-type, &quot;suspect&quot; OR prospect, might have his or her<br />name adorning a corporate jet! Be careful or you'll be<br />putting best selling book covers on your dusty shelf. If it's such a common response,<br />what's the best way to organize your marketing to attract<br />new clients and customers?</p><p>While getting all aspects of your marketing right can be<br />complicated, the simple truth is that you can attract many<br />more clients and be far more successful by doing just one<br />thing.</p><p>To get the attention of your prospects and gain their trust<br />and their business, base your marketing on the way your<br />prospects make buying decisions. Just as a sweater needs to<br />fit its owner, your marketing needs to fit your prospects.</p><p>Mirror Your Prospects' Decision Making Patterns </p><p>How do your prospects make purchasing decisions? A research<br />study by Enquiro and Marketing Sherpa found that 86% of<br />Internet users begin a search using Google. Of these, 63%<br />scan the search results, looking for key phrases in order<br />to determine which sites to visit.</p><p>If your target market doesn't find the key phrase they are<br />looking for, they won't contact you. It doesn't matter how<br />long you've been in business or how happy your clients are;<br />if your marketing message doesn't match the language your<br />prospects use, tens of thousands of people will never find<br />you. This is true even if they need and want your products<br />and services.</p><p>First, If you want people to respond to your search engine<br />listing, billboard ad, radio spot or business card, the<br />handful of words you use need to grab their attention.<br />Invest the time and effort to create a brilliant marketing<br />message. Tailor it to your prospects' problems and concerns<br />and they'll take notice.</p><p>Once you have your prospects' attention, you may want them<br />to buy your products and services right away, but this is<br />not realistic. While a small percentage of prospects with<br />an urgent need may buy on first contact with you or your<br />website, the vast majority won't. The research by Enquiro<br />and Marketing Sherpa found over 80% of people looking to<br />buy research a purchase for a period of time ranging from<br />one week to four months, with 54% taking one to three<br />months.</p><p>You may be doing a great job at getting attention, but if<br />you're not motivating prospects to contact you, your<br />business is leaking leads. You could be missing more than<br />80% of potential buyers.</p><p>Does your company have a web site? How many visitors stop<br />by your site each month? How many of these contact you?</p><p>If you're a small business you could easily be attracting<br />3,000 to 20,000 people a month. Typically, 10 to 30% of<br />these people can be motivated to contact you, amounting to<br />300 to 6,000 leads per month.</p><p>You may be attracting more leads than you need. Make sure<br />you capture them so you can market to them. One of my<br />coaching clients had a web site that was attracting 40,000<br />visitors each month. With a site this popular, he should<br />have been able to generate 8,000 leads each month. All he<br />needed was to structure his web site to prompt prospects to<br />give him their contact information. Instead he was getting<br />an average of only 10 leads each month.</p><p>Second, Motivate prospects to give you their contact<br />information. Give them a reason to contact you. I give away<br />a free marketing guide that prompts almost a thousand<br />people a month to give me their contact information. Once<br />you have your prospects' contact information, follow up<br />regularly to further establish the credibility of your firm<br />and clarify the value of your products and services.</p><p>Moving Prospects to Client or Customer Status When you<br />provide your services or develop your products you shape<br />them to fit your prospects' wants and needs. Similarly your<br />marketing needs to be shaped to fit your prospects' buying<br />patterns. It is an<br />unprecendented change in the human condition.  For the<br />first time---literally--- substantial and rapidly growing<br />numbers of people have choices.  For the first time, they<br />will have to manage themselves.&quot;</p><p>&quot;And society is totally unprepared for it.&quot;</p><p>Peter Drucker</p><p /><p>At first reading, I agreed with this .... however, I'm of<br />the opinion we have ALWAYS had CHOICES ... and continue to<br />have choices ...some people just can't seem to decide whom<br />the BOSS &quot;really&quot; is ..... lack of action may trigger a<br />degree of control (by someone that may NOT have our best<br />interests at heart) of part of our lives</p><p>A large portion of our population has seemingly (and,<br />willingly) handed control over to someone else, to some<br />governing body (be it state, local, or federal) instead of<br />handing the control over to the HIGHEST governing body, The<br />supreme being, as we CHOOSE to recognize him.</p><p>We have handed this control over to a governing body,<br />someone or something that we are NOT assured will be there<br />tommorow .... why are we SO willing to hand over this<br />control to someone else?  Who's seemingly (and<br />convincingly) telling us that these results WILL be better<br />than our own God given gifts and rights (responsibilities)?<br />Shouldn't this band of people have the guts to make<br />decisions? Could the fear of failure be holding them back? <br />Sometimes this fear partly comes from varying backgrounds<br />and life experiences</p><p>Yes, I'm of the opinion that society, as a whole, IS<br />unprepared for people to manage themselves.</p><p>However, there IS a small band of us REFUSING to fit the<br />mold of &quot;Status Quo&quot; ....  People like you and I (and a<br />handful of others) think FOR ourselves....That's the MAJOR<br />difference.  We question things that may NOT even HAVE<br />answers:) </p><p>Remember, you ALWAYS have a CHOICE. Always Move Forward.</p><p><br />Post-mortems are for morticians and coroners, NOT sales<br />professionals. Let's face it. Much of what we do, simply<br />doesn't work, so we can't waste time analyzing each and<br />every move that went wrong. How many of us spend TOO much<br />time trying to learn from mistakes? That's a loser's game.</p><p><br />Trying to live and SELL in a negative world CAN generate<br />additional negative vibes. If your roof falls in on your<br />head, do you begin a stress failure evaluation? No. In<br />sales, we pick ourselves UP, dust ourselves off, and pound<br />the e-pavement, again and again! Every NO puts us closer to<br />a YES!</p><p><br />The very best way to beat defeat is to get something<br />positive going for you, as soon as possible. Always maintain<br />target account lists so that you'll have the next most<br />likely prospect ready to ROLL, if something comes apart at<br />the seams, on any given day.</p><p><br />It's wise to keep a friendly account in reserve. Joseph<br />Campbell, folklore author, found his after visiting the<br />Museum of History in NYC. At age 4, Oprah Winfrey remembers<br />watching her grandmother washing clothes by boiling them -<br />Oprah &quot;knew&quot; then her life would be different. They all<br />found something that raised their inner vibrations, their<br />passion -- and created a vision.</p><p>People who live their visions always seem to have time to do<br />the things they want to do - we often call them &quot;go<br />getters!&quot; They're focused, make decisions easily and smile<br />often. And they're flexible - they don't get &quot;stuck&quot; in<br />their vision and miss better opportunities. As Joseph<br />Campbell said, &quot;We must be willing to get rid of the life<br />we've planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for<br />us.&quot;</p><p>And you're not limited to just one vision. People are living<br />full lives into their 90s, something unheard of just<br />a few generations ago. With continued opportunities to grow<br />and evolve, we may create several visions over a lifetime. I<br />can give you an example&#133; I loved being a trader on Wall<br />Street and couldn't see myself doing anything else. But 20<br />years later, I've found another passion - consulting and<br />coaching - and perhaps in another 20 years, there'll be<br />another passion that calls to me - I can't wait!</p><p>If you want to live in a way that empowers and motivates<br />you, it's time to create a vision. Make it simple but<br />remember that the hallmark of a vision is that it promotes<br />action. You must get it out of your head, onto paper, and<br />into your life! Here are some ways to create a compelling<br />vision.</p><p><br />Create a theme for the year.<br />Make it specific and based on where you want to be,<br />- what you want to accomplish  -12 months from now.<br />Choose 1-4 words that will keep you motivated, for<br />example:<br />-- Simply Wealthy<br />-- Big Leaps of Faith,<br />-- Be Present, Present Be<br />-- Be a Successful Me.<br />Place YOUR words on index cards, or even better create<br />a banner with your theme on it!</p><p>Resource Article: Create A Yearly Theme<br /><a href="http://www.coachmaria.com/articles/yearlytheme.html">http://www.coachmaria.com/articles/yearlytheme.html</a></p><p><br />Design a dream board.<br />They're also called treasure maps -a collage of images of<br />what you'd love to have and make of your life. Draw a<br />circle the size of a quarter in the middle of a sheet of<br />paper and write &quot;YOU&quot; in the middle. Then draw a line coming<br />out of the circle for each area of your life -<br />Relationships, Family, Romance, Friends, Professional,<br />Personal/Spiritual growth, Finance &amp; Money, Physical<br />Environment, Health, Play &amp; Recreation. These lines can be<br />short or long, straight or squiggly, and you can use as many<br />colors as you like!</p><p>Out of each of the primary lines, create more lines with<br />ideas, or draw some pictures about the topic. SMART<br />is an acronym for a goal-setting technique:<br />S(pecific),<br />M(easurable),<br />A(chievable),<br />R(ealistic),<br />T(ime-frame).</p><p>Let's say you want to create a vision for your business.<br />Using the Vision Statement formula from The One Business<br />Plan, by Jim Horan, you'd create one sentences that includes<br />the &quot;time frame&quot; for the vision, a company name, an<br />adjective that best describes what you want to accomplish,<br />what your business is about, who it's for, where your<br />clients are located, describe your products or service and,<br />of course, include how much you want to make - net or gross,<br />your choice.</p><p>Resource Document: One Page Business Plan Vision Statement<br /><a href="http://www.coachmaria.com/documents/VisionClass_OnePage.pdf">http://www.coachmaria.com/documents/VisionClass_OnePage.pdf</a></p><p>Use your vision statement to stay focused. If an opportunity<br />comes your way, look at it in light of your vision, say an<br />opportunity comes your way. You can look at your vision,<br />decide if the opportunity is in line with - or better than -<br />what you want, if it's better than what you wanted, or<br />if it's really something to say &quot;no&quot; to.</p><p>Finally, update your vision or theme yearly - and the<br />beginning of the New Year is a great time to do it! Your<br />vision can be much more powerful and last longer than a list<br />of resolutions. Remember that vision statements are dreams<br />with a very well thought-out, and deliberately created plan<br />behind them. Contract business fanss see the<br />enterprise as being run by employees or managers, even<br />groups, as a kind of democratic organization. Ideas get<br />pooled. Brainstorming occurs and flows. People trust<br />development ideas. Synergy moves tasks to benefit the whole<br />entity. Profit and income potential are present in many<br />business set-ups.</p><p>Business theories abound on the interent and in business,<br />in general. Stake-Holder types believe that people who DO<br />have common, legitimate interests in a business, should<br />also have a voice in how it is run, even IF the facts show<br />that they do not have ownership in the business. The<br />non-owners ARE also Stake-Holders. They could be employees,<br />members or associates that hold other titles. Stake-Holders<br />in business take contract theory ideas a notch further,<br />considering that people &quot;outside&quot; of the business<br />enterprise, should ALSO have a say in how the business<br />actually operates. Customers, business associates and<br />members who could be affected by what the business does OR<br />does not do, ought to have some &quot;say-so&quot; or feedback<br />regarding business policies..</p><p>                  Is Business Property ?</p><p>Yes, we could say that a business is essentially considered<br />someone's property. In this light, its owners have the<br />right to operate and dispose of it as they see fit, within<br />the confines of the law, ethics and values. In this case,<br />generally workers or consumers don't have any special<br />rights over the actual property. A good description of this<br />is that workers voluntarily exchange their labor on behalf<br />of the business owner for wages or per agreements made in<br />advance. They have no more right to tell the owner how he<br />will operate or dispose of his property than the owner has<br />to tell them how to spend their money, or the property that<br />belongs to the workers.</p><p>However, assuming the business has portrayed its goods<br />honestly and with FULL disclosure, consumers have no rights<br />to try to govern the business, which belongs to another<br />person. Courtesy sometimes changes this set-up. It's wise<br />to point out that a property owner's rights are not<br />un-limited, and that they are always constrained by ethics<br />and values. A car owner cannot burn up his car and<br />jeopardize the whole neighborhood just because he owns the<br />car. Kumar 2004-2005</p><p><a href="http://www.learnhomebusiness.com">http://www.learnhomebusiness.com</a></p><p><br />Would you ever propose a JV to a potential partner that<br />insults his intelligence, aims to squeeze the potential in<br />his lists brutally and later on leaving him with a corrupted<br />list?</p><p>Would you ever participate fully in a JV where the sole<br />aim is to prostitute your hard earned, well maintained<br />lists?</p><p>As I write this, I have received 3 major JV invitations <br />for Christmas and one of them -- quite frankly, will <br />result in serious abuse of your lists. Two e.g. are given <br />below.</p><p>1. There is a 12 day stuff going on where the JV partners<br />subscribers wer initialy forced to download an email <br />application which these JV proponent is trying to promote! <br />And as a JV partner you don't know about it until you <br />yourself enroll for receiving these gifts!</p><p>But these guys became wise soon, changed their wrong <br />approach and showed the commitment to come up to the <br />expectations of the JV partners.</p><p>2. Another JV venture, 117 gifts, is outrageous! Your<br />subscriber is put through 6 steps before he gets the <br />first set of gifts!</p><p>Your subscriber has to click through their product promotion <br />page twice. The objective is very clear! It is NOT to build <br />the lists of both the JV proponent and JV partner, but it is <br />a cheap ploy to sell the products of the JV proponent!</p><p>Again the JV partner is neither aware nor informed about <br />this! He joins with the dream of getting a truck load of <br />subscribers...but in fact he is compromising his own lists.</p><p>What kind of a JV is this where participants are taken for<br />a ride with hidden motives?</p><p>Joining for JV's like this will seriously undermine your <br />effectiveness with the future interaction with your lists.</p><p>So what are basic steps to remember while proposing<br />a JV or participating in a JV?</p><p>For The JV Proponent<br />--------------------</p><p>1. Today you may be a guru. People may flock at your<br />doorstep to enter into your JV. But the moment you stop<br />giving value and becomes interested only in getting value<br />from you JV partner, you are inviting trouble. A JV is<br />always a Win-Win situation. Remember that basic line<br />forever as a JV proponent.</p><p>2. Put every card on the table to the JV partner. After all,<br />he is your equal partner...not someone to be taken for<br />a ride. Remember that you are entering into JV for substantial<br />mutual benefit and your JV partner is not there to receive<br />crumbs from you.</p><p>3. Avoid all types of hype with JV partner! After all, if you<br />consider someone as your JV partner, he has some standing<br />for himself in the market as well as he is successful in his<br />own way! Do not insult his intelligence.</p><p>For The JV Participant<br />---------------------</p><p>1. Carefully study the JV proposal before you jump into one!<br />Do not star blasting to your list just because there is word<br />'Gift' for your subscribers.</p><p>2. Do not fall the hype. Remember that your list is one of<br />the most important ingredients of your online business.<br />Respect your subscribers and care for them. Do not expose<br />them to unscrupulous marketers who comes out the so<br />called 'JV's.</p><p>3. Always do a 'SWOT'. That is, identify the Strengths,<br />Weakness, Opportunities and Threats before you participate<br />in a JV.</p><p>4. Do not be scared that you will be left out of the race!<br />Have the full confidence that your business came into<br />existence NOT because of these so called gurus. It is<br />because of your hard work, your will to learn, integrity,<br />customer orientation and the products you chose!</p><p>In a nut shell: Propose and participate in JVs if you mean <br />it all the way! </p><p>**********************************************<br />S. I am<br />a firm believer and follower of intuition that can alert<br />the mind to upcoming mishaps, misunderstandings and<br />disasters. We sometimes get a feeling that something good<br />OR bad.......is brewing. How we ACT on it, can be a loss OR<br />a gain, in life and business. Ideas AND action can create<br />levels of success and failure. You probably know the<br />failure feeling. You put forth your best efforts and ideas<br />then fail.</p><p>Do YOU Rely on Gut Feelings to Guide You ?</p><p>I am sure quite a lot of people would agree with me, that<br />Gut Feelngs DO certainly pop up in many instances. Remember<br />all those times that you had an idea and it just wouldn't<br />disappear? How many of those ideas did you ACT upon? Did<br />FEAR of defeat hold you back? Did a lack of skills deter<br />you ? KNOW this; great ideas can be the vehicle to your<br />success destination, IF you cultivate good action plans. Start living up to your true<br />potential by rising to a new level of motivation, energy,<br />and dedication.</p><p>People procrastinate for different reasons ranging from<br />fear of failure (or success) to just plain lazy.  By first<br />identifying some of the reasons you procrastinate, you can<br />develop a plan to end your frustration, finally get<br />motivated, and stay motivated.</p><p>Here are eight great tips for becoming more successful:</p><p>1. A major component of motivation is self-confidence.<br />Fear of failure, fear of rejection, and feeling unworthy or<br />undeserving are common reasons people procrastinate.<br />Taking steps to improve your self-esteem will go a long way<br />in helping you get motivated.</p><p>2. Two things in particular motivate human beings: pleasure<br />and pain.  Make a list of the pleasure you'll get from<br />accomplishing your goals.  Also list the consequences<br />you'll suffer by procrastinating.  If you keep the reward<br />in mind it will be easier to stay focused.</p><p>3. Evaluate your life and do some soul searching.<br />Overcoming irrational fears and phobias are critical steps<br />in becoming self-confident and motivated.</p><p>4. The act of procrastinating itself causes your<br />self-esteem to suffer.  Feelings of guilt, stress, and<br />anxiety only lead to unfulfilled goals and dreams.</p><p>If you dislike yourself because you lack the courage to<br />pursue your dreams, then you set yourself up for failure.</p><p>5. Take a good look at your personal issues and make your<br />plan.  Give your goals and daily tasks your full attention<br />and strive to complete everything on your list, each and<br />every day.</p><p>6. Procrastination is a habitual behavior.  Once you start<br />procrastinating the harder it is to break the habit.  It<br />takes time and dedication to develop new habits.  If you<br />understand what causes you to procrastinate, you can take<br />steps to change.</p><p>Improving your self-esteem and breaking old habits will put<br />you on the path to success.  Reward yourself for small<br />accomplishments and keep in mind the end result of reaching<br />your goals.</p><p>7. Procrastination can be overcome if you make a plan to<br />change and follow it closely.  If you fail to complete a<br />given task, then don't take the reward.  Realize that there<br />are consequences for every action you take.</p><p>8. There is a connection between physical and emotional<br />well being.  Taking steps to better your health will help<br />you to stay motivated and stop procrastinating.  Exercise,<br />maintain a healthy diet, and concentrate on good health<br />habits as well as good mental and work habits.</p><p>If you are feeling bad, whether emotionally or physically,<br />you accomplish less, which makes you feel even worse.</p><p>Overcoming procrastination is perhaps one of the most<br />important steps you can take to improve your life and<br />become the motivated, successful person you are capable of<br />being. Intuition<br />might have unconsciously been formed by our previous<br />experiences. A person who has an intuitive opinion can't<br />fully explain why he or she holds that particular<br />viewpoint. These people generally say that they just FELT<br />like, it &quot;was&quot; the right thing to do.</p><p>A Master of Instinct and Intuition can be very valuable in<br />business circles. Intuition is an unconscious form of<br />knowledge. It's on the spot, upfront and not open to<br />rational or typical OR analytical thought processes. It's<br />different from instinct, which does NOT have an experience<br />element. It's a very high form of skill aquisition and can<br />even be, a model for business.</p><p>Intuition does present some advantages in solving complex<br />problems and finding new results. It is ONE source of<br />common sense. It sometimes helps us gain knowledge. Some<br />sources of intuition are: feelings, experiences and<br />knowledge, itself.</p><p>Brainstorming is an important intuitive method. A great<br />brainstormer is very hard to beat in the business world.<br />WHY? Because enlightenment might take over the competitive<br />advantages. We can match skills. We can't always match a<br />master brainstorming mind. Intuition doesn't always intend<br />to find a solution right away. Sometimes it can help to<br />sleep on things, over-night. I recently saw an old Russian<br />Maxim: The morning knows more than the evening.</p><p>          The Paradox --- Understanding</p><p>A situation which is or CAN appear to be true, but violates<br />our intuition, is called a paradox (a paradox can also be a<br />logical self-contradiction).</p><p>As a philosophy, intuition is one of the basic cognitive<br />faculties. It's equivalent to what might casually be<br />called, &quot;perception&quot;. Some theories hold that ALL of our<br />mind, casts ALL of our &quot;external&quot; intuitions in the form of<br />space, and all of our &quot;internal&quot; intuitions, some of which<br />are memory and thought, are in the form of time.</p><p>Have you ever &quot;really&quot; thought about mathematical<br />knowledge? Don't you want 2005 to be different<br />than this year?</p><p>I can tell you this - </p><p>There is one thing and one thing along that WILL make<br />2005 your best year ever...</p><p>And that one thing is having an understanding and a <br />mastery of the &quot;Power Of Now&quot;. </p><p>We've talked about this in previous issues, about how the <br />past is just that. And we talked about how the future is just <br />a &quot;Now&quot; that isn't &quot;Now&quot; yet.</p><p>It's a hard concept to grasp, but &quot;Now&quot; is really the only <br />moment in time that counts.</p><p>If you are happy in the &quot;Now&quot;, then you have control over <br />your emotions and what happens to you. </p><p>Work with me for a minute here - the past was nothing more <br />than a &quot;Now&quot; that occurred at that moment in time.</p><p>It's gone, it's done and there is no going back. To take your <br />&quot;right now&quot; and to mess it up by reliving past events that <br />didn't go your way is being abusive to yourself in a sense.</p><p>Now, I am not saying that we shouldn't look back on the past <br />and learn lessons from it. To be oblivious of the past is to be <br />foolish.</p><p>But...</p><p>To dwell on the past to the extent that it costs you your present <br />happiness or your future plans, that's just crazy.</p><p>It's like dropping ice cream on the sidewalk. It's done, it's over. <br />You had an accident. It happens.</p><p>The question is, do you now go back into Dairy Queen and buy <br />yourself another large cup of Vanilla and focus on being happy <br />right here right now,</p><p>Or...</p><p>Do you sit there and cry and moan and wail about your dropped <br />ice cream and promise to never eat ice cream again because <br />after all you just bought some and dropped it and how dumb are <br />you and how you should have known better and how silly and <br />foolish of you and so best not to ever to try to eat ice cream again <br />because it's just too painful to do?</p><p>Now, does that sound silly to you? Giving up ice cream just <br />because you dropped it one time? </p><p>It is silly. You wouldn't dream of punishing yourself for dropping <br />ice cream by accident. After all, it's no big deal and you are <br />only human. You go and pick up another cup and off you go. </p><p>But yet, in life when we make other mistakes, we beat ourselves <br />senseless. We relive them, anguish over them, rage against our <br />own selves, we do everything we can to punish ourselves and we <br />somehow manifest the same situation over and over and over. </p><p>It's like as if we were getting paid to relive things, that's how much <br />energy we put into it.</p><p>But, what if...</p><p>What if instead of beating ourselves up for past mistakes, we <br />focused instead on the &quot;Present Moment&quot;?</p><p>What if we said &quot;hey, past is past and right now I can happily choose <br />to bring into existence an entirely new outcome in my life&quot;?</p><p>What if it were possible to do this? Possible to have the ability to <br />change any situation you don't like, instantly and effortlessly?</p><p>How many things could you improve in your life if you only had the <br />ability to stop and think and say hey &quot;in this moment, I chose to be <br />present and accountable for my own actions. I will no longer be a <br />victim&quot;. </p><p>&quot;In fact, if X upsets/bothers/depresses me, I will simply move away <br />from it, I will release &quot;ownership&quot; of it, and I will instead change my<br />thoughts and my reactions towards something that will be more <br />productive&quot;?</p><p>In Dr. Robert Anthony's course over at <br /><a href="http://eliteinnercircle.com/reports/c/87">http://eliteinnercircle.com/reports/c/87</a> , <br />he talks about the importance of &quot;flip-switching&quot;. </p><p>What that means is that you mentally 'fiip a switch'<br />in your mind and when something negative gets in <br />your head, you learn how to deliberately &quot;overwrite&quot; <br />it with a positive thought.</p><p>It takes practice, but believe it or not, if you can only <br />just replace a negative thought with a positive thought - <br />any positive thought - for just 17 seconds, you <br />literally &quot;defuse the bomb&quot; and the negative emotion <br />is cancelled out. It literally becomes null and void and <br />you learn that it has no power over you, no effect over <br />you, only that which you chose to give it in the first <br />place.</p><p>I can't stress how vitally important this concept is to <br />you. To your internet efforts, to be sure. But, I am talking <br />about your entire life from the time you wake up to the <br />time you go to bed.</p><p>Imagine how much further along you would be online if you <br />only, only, if you only just had a way to leave your past <br />behind and to come to live only in this exact moment. You'd <br />be able to chose wisely, to pick the thing that is best for you <br />to do and to do it by second nature.</p><p>How powerful would that be? I have beat myself <br />up over silly things I've done literally thirty years ago.</p><p>Now, let's think about that for a second. </p><p>What kind of maniac punishes himself for something that occurred <br />three freaking decades ago?</p><p>What have I cost myself in terms of my present and my future, by <br />reacting to past events that have been gone for days, months, years, <br />even decades?</p><p>I mean when I think about it, my mind reels in horror. </p><p>No one else is sitting there doing this to me, no one is holding me <br />down and forcing me to relive the summer of 1979 or Jan 16th, 1986 <br />or even last Tuesday, are they?</p><p>The fact is the only person that can hold us down, beat us up, hurt us <br />bad is our own selves.</p><p>Now, that seems to be simple enough to grasp. You would think a <br />smart guy like me would be able to figure this stuff out and just fix it <br />all with a snap of my fingers, right?</p><p>But that's not the case. I still beat myself up over things. I finished reading a book about RSS feeds.  <br />Quickly set up one for my site, submitted it on directories and <br />went to bed.</p><p>Sunday morning, I noticed a sale.  Idly, I scanned my logs to <br />see where the buyer had found me. </p><p>It was from Yahoo!  Now that may not seem surprising, except... <br />I had not been listed in Yahoo! before.</p><p>Curious, I did a Yahoo! Search for my domain name... and almost <br />fainted in shock!  There were 123 of my pages listed - many of <br />them in the top 10 ranks on my best keywords.</p><p>My RSS feed had been listed within 48 hours - and since my other <br />pages were linked from it, they had all been indexed by Yahoo! <br />just as quickly.  And for free!</p><p>Since then I have heard many others share similar experiences.  <br />It is no fluke.  RSS is H-O-T.  And search engines LOVE it.</p><p>So what is RSS?  An acronym for Really Simple Syndication, it is <br />a web language format designed to help syndicate content across <br />different sources. </p><p>RSS has been around for more than 10 years but has only recently <br />become popular. RSS feeds provide headlines and summaries of <br />information in a concise and standardized way.</p><p>The rise in RSS popularity, specially among marketers, has many <br />reasons.  Email filters and new legislation have lowered the <br />effectiveness of email marketing.  Content syndication in many <br />different ways is gathering momentum.  And fresh, frequently <br />updated content is the very essence of the Web.</p><p>How can you use RSS feeds in your marketing?  Is there a way to <br />turn RSS feeds into profits?</p><p><br />Absolutely.  Here are some ideas:</p><p>1.  Beat email filters.  Ask your subscribers, prospects and <br />    clients to sign up to your RSS feed along with your email <br />    newsletter.  If the ezine gets blocked, they'll still get <br />    your RSS feed.</p><p>2.  Spread the word.  Offer your new, valuable content to many <br />    other 'lazy' website owners - in return for getting extra <br />    exposure of your name and brand to their audiences.</p><p>3.  Get listed on search engines.  No one knows how long this <br />    'honeymoon' will last.  But ride the wave - and get into <br />    search engines quickly, inexpensively - by submitting your <br />    RSS feeds to them.</p><p>4.  Use the first-mover advantage.  Dedicated RSS directories <br />    are mushrooming.  Make sure your RSS feed is indexed in them <br />    and you could future-proof your business.  Imagine if you <br />    were one of the first sites to be indexed in Google or <br />    Yahoo 5 years ago!</p><p>5.  Offer your readers new content.  Keep creating your own <br />    content - but also use RSS feed syndication to offer other <br />    people's content to your list.  Less pain, less strain, <br />    more gain.</p><p><br />And that's not all.  On a bet, I sat down and listed 41 different <br />ideas to profit from RSS feeds.
