Marketing Strategies: Do you know anyone struggling or not passionate about their career?

A message from...
Cindy McAsey-Marketing Strategies Coach

It's no secret we've hit some of the toughest economic times in 80 years and we all know someone who's struggling, or who has stayed in a career that doesn't fulfill their life's passion.

That's why I'm sending you this. When you understand the 80/20 rule it helps you become one of the elite 20%.

The 80/20 Rule is one of the most helpful of all concepts of time and life management. It is also called the "Pareto Principle" after its founder, the Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto, who first wrote about it in 1895. Pareto noticed that people in his society seemed to divide naturally into what he called the "vital few," the top 20 percent in terms of money and influence, and the "trivial many," the bottom 80 percent.

He later discovered that virtually all economic activity was subject to this principle as well. For example, this principle says that:

20 percent of your activities will account for 80 percent of your results.

20 percent of your customers will account for 80 percent of your sales.

20 percent of your products or services will account for 80 percent of your profits.

20 percent of your tasks will account for 80 percent of the value of what you do, and so on.

This means that if you have a list of ten items to do, two of those items will turn out to be worth five or ten times or more than the other eight items put together.

Number of Tasks versus Importance of Tasks
Here is an interesting discovery. Each of the ten tasks may take the same amount of time to accomplish. But one or two of those tasks will contribute five or ten times the value of any of the others.

Often, one item on a list of ten tasks that you have to do can be worth more than all the other nine items put together. This task is invariably the frog that you should eat first.

Focus on Activities, Not Accomplishments
The most valuable tasks you can do each day are often the hardest and most complex. But the payoff and rewards for completing these tasks efficiently can be tremendous. For this reason, you must adamantly refuse to work on tasks in the bottom 80 percent while you still have tasks in the top 20 percent left to be done.

Before you begin work, always ask yourself, "Is this task in the top 20 percent of
my activities or in the bottom 80 percent?"

The hardest part of any important task is getting started on it in the first place. Once you actually begin to work on a valuable task, you will be naturally motivated to continue. A part of your mind loves to be busy working on significant tasks that can really make a difference. Your job is to feed this part of your mind continually.

Motivate Yourself
Just thinking about starting and finishing an important task motivates you and helps you to overcome procrastination. Time management is really life management, personal management. It is really taking control of the sequence of events. Time management is having control over what you do next. And you are always free to choose the task that you will do next. Your ability to choose between the important and the unimportant is the key determinant of your success in life and work.

Effective, productive people discipline themselves to start on the most important task that is before them. They force themselves to eat that frog, whatever it is. As a result, they accomplish vastly more than the average person and are much happier as a result. This should be your way of working as well.

To your Success,

Marketing Mindset: What all successful people have in common

John Maxwell's audio program titled "Failing Forward" made me take a second look. As I listened and the simplicity of his message kept my interest. I could personally relate to what he was describing.

The following is the heart of his message. All successful people have two things in common.
1. They are successful
2. They have failed their way to success.

As I listened I started to think of all the appointments I've had over the years where no one showed up. So many presentations I did that really weren't very good. I wondered how many meetings I did where we expected 5 to 10 people and I was alone all night.
I set goals so many times and didn't reach them in the time frame I expected.
The times I knew we would grow and have our best year ever....it didn't happen.

John Maxwell is right. All successful people do in fact fail their way forward. Just think... as long as you and I keep doing the right things, even when it doesn't seem to be working, we will fail our way forward. Failing is a part of life and certainly a part of being in business as we all are.

What I recall about John Maxwell's message about failing is it's how we as individuals look at it. He said that failing is really about learning lessons and it isn't a bad thing. Lessons! Why didn't they teach us that in 1st grade....2nd grade....3rd grade.....every year.

So here's the deal folks....from here on out, every day, make up your mind that today is about learning lessons. Go out today and speak to people. Ask questions. Listen. Get appointments. Hear lots of NO's. Get stood up. Do a meeting where no one shows up go to bed happy because today was lesson time and we're all failing our way forward. Kind of interesting to think this way isn't it.

Marketing Mindset: Miracles happen when you give energy to your Dreams

A message from...
Cindy McAsey-Marketing Strategies Coach

This is one of these videos that gave me goose bump's, re-ignited a fire deep in my heart, and sent chills running up my spine. I don't know if it will do the same for you we are all made up differently. Watch closely...

View Video Online
So... what feelings did it bring out in you? For me the goose bumps came when I saw many of the athletes in the video whom I know trust Shaklee nutrition to fuel their body. The winner in the womens category Laurie Brandt is one. Anytime I am reminded of the amazing adventures that trust Shaklee for their "fuel" it gives me goose bumps.

The next feeling that came was a fire that's been way deep inside for a long time. When I saw the mountains and terran in the video all I could think about is how I want to explore mountains, valleys and everything in between. One of my dreams is trail riding in places you would only trust a mules instinct to take you through it.

This picture and message I posted on facebook is a motivational reminder for me. It's a picture of "Josie" one of our gaited trail mules. The reason for the title is.. she isn't what I consider "broke" yet (although my husband feels she is not that far from it)

"Miracles start to happen when you give as much energy to your dreams as you do to your fears."
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=782309&l=26bbdb79bf&id=1143973898

This is kind of like my own "dream" board, please comment and or encourage me OK?

Our mules aren't your average mules they have been bred specifically for long distance smooth rides. They are BIG (right at 16 hands) and very athletic. Tale is built like a brick probably weighs 200 lbs more that Josie. We purchased them as babies straight out of a pasture where they were born. My husband and I have taught them everything. Both of us have extensive of experience in training animals.

The fear for me is the distance to ground, their athletic ability to jump, twist, go over tall barriers and cover long distances in a very short of time. What I fear is what I will love and appreciate the most once they are broke and on the trail.

It's been said you have a much greater chance of meeting and attaining your goals when you tell others about them. I've gotta say the desire is very strong to get those mules broke to ride and I'm confident you'll help me out with encouraging words.

The chilling part of the video for me: I got very cold and chills went up my spine seeing the needle pierce the skin of the contestant. I've got a fear of needles. It's weird I don't mind giving animals shots (probably cause I done it so much) but the idea of a needle going into human skin gives me the creeps.

So what about you. Did any part of this video move you like it did me. What are your dreams or/and fears? It's emotion that causes us to take action, what are you giving energy too?

Living the dream,

Marketing Strategies Developing Leadership

A message from...
Cindy McAsey-Marketing Strategies Coach

In this week's FastTRACK and Team Up Training Call, Presidential and Lifetime Master Coordinator Jim Burke remarked that some of the most enviable and lucrative careers in the world have been built on the premise of "doing one thing well." And building a large organization that generates residual income in Shaklee is no different. What do you need to know, what do you need to be able to teach others, in order to achieve a career level of income in Shaklee? To ascend to the prestigious top ranks if that's your goal in Shaklee, Jim has some great advice for you.

In Jim's opinion, the answer is simple. "It's becoming a Director and helping others become a Director. That's the only thought I've ever had in Shaklee. If you want to take advantage of how the sales plan works, if you want to produce results, it's important to stay focused, and not to allow yourself to become distracted."

Here's Jim's outline for creating a plan to become a Director. It's one very experienced and successful leader's approach for helping others to become a Director in the first 30-90 days in Shaklee!

1. First, commit to following the plan
2. Become a GOLD Ambassador (this opens the door to all of the different ways you can be paid in Shaklee)
3. Set up an office in your home
4. Learn and understand the Director position with all of its benefits and importance
5. Hook up with all support systems (Shaklee University, EXCITE training meetings, conferences, team meetings)

6. Learn how to do a new Member orientation: This means helping your network (see point #9) to Shakleeize their home and also set up a Shaklee office
7. Purchase a small inventory.. certainly not a requirement, but a great commitment. (That's what I did)
8. Learn how to present the compensation plan. (You can use video's or DVD's for this)
9. Build a network of 20 or 30 people
10. Build to Director, if you can't make it to Director, you can't help create a Director

And finally, keep training simple and within one model. Everything you do must be duplicatable - that means it must be something that someone else can easily learn from you and adapt to their own skill level and personality.

We should feel so blessed on our team to have access to some of the top minds in this industry. I've included the podcast to either download to your ipod or listen online. Please don't take this training lightly or make growing your business difficult. As one of my favorite twitter friends says K I S S (keep it simple stupid).. here is the short simple tweet I RT.
Get the Shaklee Conversation Started

A message from...
Cindy McAsey-Marketing Strategies Coach

This is post is for those who are ready, and excited to share Shaklee, but even though we want to talk we just haven't figured out what to say not to turn people off to what we have to offer. Here are some of my conversation starters...

If you could wave your magic wand, and construct your ideal life, what would it be?

Do you look for opportunities to earn extra income?

If you could help other people live healthier lives, and earn an income at the same time, is that something that you or someone you know would be interested in learning more about?

Another approach to use with good friends is "could you help me out" People love to help their friends if they can...
For instance look at your facebook account.. Which of your friends could you send a personal email to asking them to take a look at your new website and give their opnion? Or..ask them what they think... Say something like "If the right person saw this presentation do you think they would understand how it worked? Here is the link: http://connect.shakleeuniversity.com/p84365873"

Then based on their reply you will know how to proceed. If they reply and you're not sure let me help you with an answer. A typical reply I get is... How are Shaklee Products different than what I buy at Walmart? Your reply would be.. If I sent you a video that talks about the Shaklee Difference would you promise me you will listen to it? If they say yes.. then send them this link.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eG-3StLcArg&feature=PlayList&p=E99FAA44552F84D0

Now lets take that "help me" to a more personal level...
Explain to them you are wanting to do a presentation at your house in a couple of weeks but would love to to a "mock" walk through and ask them if you could use them as a "guinea pig" Set a time then do your presentation. Keep it short and too the point and ask for their opnion. By doing this it helps you and it lets them know what you are doing.

Friends always like to help friends out... always ask for referrals especially if they don't seem very interested in what your doing. Here is a simple referal question... "Can you think of anyone who might be interested in learning about Shaklee Products or Business?" If you know them pretty well help them with names of people you both know ask them what they think.
If they show interest... Visit with them about joining you in Shaklee and doing a presentation together. Place the people you both know under them, this way it helps both of you.

OR...Same conversation but the presentation could be taking place in a web conference room. You could also do the "can you help" me by inviting them to one of our Master Conferences. Ask them to come with you and "help you" think of people who might be interested in the topic of the conference.

Bottomline is it's not so much "what you say" it's the passion they hear in voice... it's "how you say it." Think of yourself as the messanger or the customer service rep. you are just getting them the information they will need to make an informed decision.

I encourage you to take a moment to listen to the attached podcast. Listen to the passion in Shaklee's CEO Roger Barnett as he talk's about his mission to grow from 1.2 million to 10 million. Together when we meet that goal Shaklee will become the largest force for social change in the world. I don't know about you but that statement makes my heart beat a little bit faster. Be sure in listen, just click on the little podcast button at the top of this post.

Marketing Mindset: The Secret Sauce To Success

This morning on twitter my friend Pat O'Brian posted "Blog post- "homeless marketing." if you were dropped in a strange city with no tech or money, what would you do?" Curiousity got to me so I went over to his blog to see what he has to say. His words could have come directly out of one of my almost daily web conferences I've been doing for years. In fact he even did a recording teaching the basic's ( exact same thing I've done in my web conferences SEVERAL times)

Here it is: http://unwebinar.com/homeless/homeless.htm

As most folks know it's not hard learn how to build your business online, what is hard for most folks is to take ACTON. Our Franchise Business has many incentives to help motivate folks to take action here are just a few...

Bottomline your business success or failure will fall back onto your action steps. We can show you the way but it's up to you to take action. I know in today's rough economy sometimes it's easy to feel sorry for yourself . In fact your mind can play havoc with your action. If this happens to you take a moment and watch this next short clip from Mike Shlappi and you shouldn't feel sorry for yourself ever again.

I rest my case... Self motivation and Action is the secret sauce for Success!

Marketing Mindset: Tips for Happiness

3 Instant Tips to be Happier Now

Realize that anything worth doing is worth doing badly. Challenge and novelty are key elements of happiness. The brain is stimulated by surprise, and successfully dealing with an unexpected situation gives a powerful sense of satisfaction. People who do new things -- learn a new dance, explore to unfamiliar places -- are happier than people who stick to familiar activities that they already do well. I often remind myself to "Enjoy the fun of failure" and tackle some daunting goal.

Fake it till you feel it. Feelings follow actions. If I'm feeling low, I deliberately act cheery, and I find myself actually feeling happier. If I'm feeling angry at someone, I do something thoughtful for her and my feelings toward her soften. This strategy is uncannily effective.

Take Action Some people assume happiness is mostly a matter of inborn temperament: You're born an Eeyore or a Tigger, and that's that.
Although it's true that genetics play a big role, about 40 percent of your happiness level is within your control.
Taking time to reflect, and making conscious steps to make your life happier, really does work.
