That's why I'm sending you this. When you understand the 80/20 rule it helps you become one of the elite 20%.
The 80/20 Rule is one of the most helpful of all concepts of time and life management. It is also called the "Pareto Principle" after its founder, the Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto, who first wrote about it in 1895. Pareto noticed that people in his society seemed to divide naturally into what he called the "vital few," the top 20 percent in terms of money and influence, and the "trivial many," the bottom 80 percent.
He later discovered that virtually all economic activity was subject to this principle as well. For example, this principle says that:
Number of Tasks versus Importance of Tasks
Often, one item on a list of ten tasks that you have to do can be worth more than all the other nine items put together. This task is invariably the frog that you should eat first.
Focus on Activities, Not Accomplishments
Before you begin work, always ask yourself, "Is this task in the top 20 percent of
my activities or in the bottom 80 percent?"
The hardest part of any important task is getting started on it in the first place. Once you actually begin to work on a valuable task, you will be naturally motivated to continue. A part of your mind loves to be busy working on significant tasks that can really make a difference. Your job is to feed this part of your mind continually.
Motivate Yourself
Effective, productive people discipline themselves to start on the most important task that is before them. They force themselves to eat that frog, whatever it is. As a result, they accomplish vastly more than the average person and are much happier as a result. This should be your way of working as well.

It's no secret we've hit some of the toughest economic times in 80 years and we all know someone who's struggling, or who has stayed in a career that doesn't fulfill their life's passion.
This means that if you have a list of ten items to do, two of those items will turn out to be worth five or ten times or more than the other eight items put together.
Here is an interesting discovery. Each of the ten tasks may take the same amount of time to accomplish. But one or two of those tasks will contribute five or ten times the value of any of the others.
The most valuable tasks you can do each day are often the hardest and most complex. But the payoff and rewards for completing these tasks efficiently can be tremendous. For this reason, you must adamantly refuse to work on tasks in the bottom 80 percent while you still have tasks in the top 20 percent left to be done.
Just thinking about starting and finishing an important task motivates you and helps you to overcome procrastination. Time management is really life management, personal management. It is really taking control of the sequence of events. Time management is having control over what you do next. And you are always free to choose the task that you will do next. Your ability to choose between the important and the unimportant is the key determinant of your success in life and work.

Marketing Strategies: Do you know anyone struggling or not passionate about their career?
March 04, 2010Marketing Mindset: What all successful people have in common
February 09, 2010
The following is the heart of his message. All successful people have two things in common.
1. They are successful
2. They have failed their way to success.
As I listened I started to think of all the appointments I've had over the years where no one showed up. So many presentations I did that really weren't very good. I wondered how many meetings I did where we expected 5 to 10 people and I was alone all night. I set goals so many times and didn't reach them in the time frame I expected. The times I knew we would grow and have our best year ever....it didn't happen.
John Maxwell is right. All successful people do in fact fail their way forward. Just think... as long as you and I keep doing the right things, even when it doesn't seem to be working, we will fail our way forward. Failing is a part of life and certainly a part of being in business as we all are.
What I recall about John Maxwell's message about failing is it's how we as individuals look at it. He said that failing is really about learning lessons and it isn't a bad thing. Lessons! Why didn't they teach us that in 1st grade....2nd grade....3rd grade.....every year.
So here's the deal folks....from here on out, every day, make up your mind that today is about learning lessons. Go out today and speak to people. Ask questions. Listen. Get appointments. Hear lots of NO's. Get stood up. Do a meeting where no one shows up go to bed happy because today was lesson time and we're all failing our way forward. Kind of interesting to think this way isn't it.

Marketing Mindset: Miracles happen when you give energy to your Dreams
October 03, 2009
The next feeling that came was a fire that's been way deep inside for a long time. When I saw the mountains and terran in the video all I could think about is how I want to explore mountains, valleys and everything in between. One of my dreams is trail riding in places you would only trust a mules instinct to take you through it.
This picture and message I posted on facebook is a motivational reminder for me. It's a picture of "Josie" one of our gaited trail mules. The reason for the title is.. she isn't what I consider "broke" yet (although my husband feels she is not that far from it)
"Miracles start to happen when you give as much energy to your dreams as you do to your fears."
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=782309&l=26bbdb79bf&id=1143973898
This is kind of like my own "dream" board, please comment and or encourage me OK?
Our mules aren't your average mules they have been bred specifically for long distance smooth rides. They are BIG (right at 16 hands) and very athletic. Tale is built like a brick probably weighs 200 lbs more that Josie. We purchased them as babies straight out of a pasture where they were born. My husband and I have taught them everything. Both of us have extensive of experience in training animals.
The fear for me is the distance to ground, their athletic ability to jump, twist, go over tall barriers and cover long distances in a very short of time. What I fear is what I will love and appreciate the most once they are broke and on the trail.
It's been said you have a much greater chance of meeting and attaining your goals when you tell others about them. I've gotta say the desire is very strong to get those mules broke to ride and I'm confident you'll help me out with encouraging words.
The chilling part of the video for me: I got very cold and chills went up my spine seeing the needle pierce the skin of the contestant. I've got a fear of needles. It's weird I don't mind giving animals shots (probably cause I done it so much) but the idea of a needle going into human skin gives me the creeps.
So what about you. Did any part of this video move you like it did me. What are your dreams or/and fears? It's emotion that causes us to take action, what are you giving energy too?

So... what feelings did it bring out in you? For me the goose bumps came when I saw many of the athletes in the video whom I know trust Shaklee nutrition to fuel their body. The winner in the womens category Laurie Brandt is one. Anytime I am reminded of the amazing adventures that trust Shaklee for their "fuel" it gives me goose bumps.

Marketing Strategies Developing Leadership
September 27, 2009
In this week's FastTRACK and Team Up Training Call, Presidential and Lifetime Master Coordinator Jim Burke remarked that some of the most enviable and lucrative careers in the world have been built on the premise of "doing one thing well." And building a large organization that generates residual income in Shaklee is no different. What do you need to know, what do you need to be able to teach others, in order to achieve a career level of income in Shaklee? To ascend to the prestigious top ranks if that's your goal in Shaklee, Jim has some great advice for you.
In Jim's opinion, the answer is simple. "It's becoming a Director and helping others become a Director. That's the only thought I've ever had in Shaklee. If you want to take advantage of how the sales plan works, if you want to produce results, it's important to stay focused, and not to allow yourself to become distracted."
Here's Jim's outline for creating a plan to become a Director. It's one very experienced and successful leader's approach for helping others to become a Director in the first 30-90 days in Shaklee!
1. First, commit to following the plan
6. Learn how to do a new Member orientation: This means helping your network (see point #9) to Shakleeize their home and also set up a Shaklee office
And finally, keep training simple and within one model. Everything you do must be duplicatable - that means it must be something that someone else can easily learn from you and adapt to their own skill level and personality.
We should feel so blessed on our team to have access to some of the top minds in this industry. I've included the podcast to either download to your ipod or listen online. Please don't take this training lightly or make growing your business difficult. As one of my favorite twitter friends says K I S S (keep it simple stupid).. here is the short simple tweet I RT. 2. Become a GOLD Ambassador (this opens the door to all of the different ways you can be paid in Shaklee)
3. Set up an office in your home
4. Learn and understand the Director position with all of its benefits and importance
5. Hook up with all support systems (Shaklee University, EXCITE training meetings, conferences, team meetings)
7. Purchase a small inventory.. certainly not a requirement, but a great commitment. (That's what I did)
8. Learn how to present the compensation plan. (You can use video's or DVD's for this)
9. Build a network of 20 or 30 people
10. Build to Director, if you can't make it to Director, you can't help create a Director

Get the Shaklee Conversation Started
September 10, 2009
A message from...
Cindy McAsey-Marketing Strategies Coach
This is post is for those who are ready, and excited to share Shaklee, but even though we want to talk we just haven't figured out what to say not to turn people off to what we have to offer. Here are some of my conversation starters...
- If you could wave your magic wand, and construct your ideal life, what would it be?
- Do you look for opportunities to earn extra income?
- If you could help other people live healthier lives, and earn an income at the same time, is that something that you or someone you know would be interested in learning more about?
Then based on their reply you will know how to proceed. If they reply and you're not sure let me help you with an answer. A typical reply I get is... How are Shaklee Products different than what I buy at Walmart? Your reply would be.. If I sent you a video that talks about the Shaklee Difference would you promise me you will listen to it? If they say yes.. then send them this link.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eG-3StLcArg&feature=PlayList&p=E99FAA44552F84D0
Now lets take that "help me" to a more personal level... Explain to them you are wanting to do a presentation at your house in a couple of weeks but would love to to a "mock" walk through and ask them if you could use them as a "guinea pig" Set a time then do your presentation. Keep it short and too the point and ask for their opnion. By doing this it helps you and it lets them know what you are doing.
Friends always like to help friends out... always ask for referrals especially if they don't seem very interested in what your doing. Here is a simple referal question... "Can you think of anyone who might be interested in learning about Shaklee Products or Business?" If you know them pretty well help them with names of people you both know ask them what they think. If they show interest... Visit with them about joining you in Shaklee and doing a presentation together. Place the people you both know under them, this way it helps both of you.
OR...Same conversation but the presentation could be taking place in a web conference room. You could also do the "can you help" me by inviting them to one of our Master Conferences. Ask them to come with you and "help you" think of people who might be interested in the topic of the conference.
Bottomline is it's not so much "what you say" it's the passion they hear in voice... it's "how you say it." Think of yourself as the messanger or the customer service rep. you are just getting them the information they will need to make an informed decision.
I encourage you to take a moment to listen to the attached podcast. Listen to the passion in Shaklee's CEO Roger Barnett as he talk's about his mission to grow from 1.2 million to 10 million. Together when we meet that goal Shaklee will become the largest force for social change in the world. I don't know about you but that statement makes my heart beat a little bit faster. Be sure in listen, just click on the little podcast button at the top of this post.

Marketing Mindset: The Secret Sauce To Success
August 10, 2009This morning on twitter my friend Pat O'Brian posted "Blog post- "homeless marketing." if you were dropped in a strange city with no tech or money, what would you do?" In fact he even did a recording teaching the basic's ( exact same thing I've done in my web conferences SEVERAL times)
Here it is: http://unwebinar.com/homeless/homeless.htm

Marketing Mindset: Tips for Happiness
August 04, 2009- Realize that anything worth doing is worth doing badly. Challenge and novelty are key elements of happiness. The brain is stimulated by surprise, and successfully dealing with an unexpected situation gives a powerful sense of satisfaction. People who do new things -- learn a new dance, explore to unfamiliar places -- are happier than people who stick to familiar activities that they already do well. I often remind myself to "Enjoy the fun of failure" and tackle some daunting goal.
- Fake it till you feel it. Feelings follow actions. If I'm feeling low, I deliberately act cheery, and I find myself actually feeling happier. If I'm feeling angry at someone, I do something thoughtful for her and my feelings toward her soften. This strategy is uncannily effective.
- Take Action Some people assume happiness is mostly a matter of inborn temperament: You're born an Eeyore or a Tigger, and that's that. Although it's true that genetics play a big role, about 40 percent of your happiness level is within your control. Taking time to reflect, and making conscious steps to make your life happier, really does work.

Marketing Strategies: 5 Twitter tips for your Business
July 22, 2009Many businesses have hopped onto the Twitter bandwagon, trying to find a way to bring in business (and hopefully, revenue) one tweet at a time. But it isn’t as easy to Twitter — especially for companies — as one might think. For those who don’t know: Twitter’s a micro-blogging site that allows users to communicate with each other in 140 characters or less. Think of each “tweet” as a text or instant message — not really directed at anyone but visible to everyone. And those who want to follow particular people’s tweets can simply subscribe to their feed for real-time updates. But don’t mistake it for a fluke: In the last year, Twitter traffic has multiplied almost 15 times over, with more than 37.3 million unique global visitors in May, according to comScore. And as tweeting becomes hotter, businesses feel more pressure to join the social-networking tool in order to stay competitive. But many are struggling to understand Twitter culture and, as a result, their tweets can come off as desperate or inadvertently turn away potential customers. So to help you avoid any Twitter mistakes and maximize your tweeting potential, here are five rules for using this social networking tool that’ll keep your business ahead of the competition. 1. It’s a two-way conversation Know those annoying people who always talk about themselves and don’t listen to others? Well, don’t let that persona take over your Twitter feed. Remember to listen. Too many businesses are just blasting out press releases over and over again — or worse, have an automated tweeting system and wind up ignoring communication from their followers. I unfollow those folks really fast! That’s the worst mistake you can make on Twitter, says Julio Ojeda-Zapata, social media expert and author of Twitter Means Business: How microblogging can help or hurt your company. “It’s like these companies are standing out on a mountaintop with a megaphone broadcasting how wonderful they are, but Twitter is an intercom, not a megaphone.” To avoid this common mistake, use Twitter regularly, and consider assigning a specific person to tweet on a daily basis. This way, companies can follow users who mention their business, engage users through direct messages, and actually build relationships with followers, rather than inundate them with information. 2. Your Twitter and business voice should sound the same Twitter may be a casual medium, but that doesn’t mean your company has to be casual about it. Businesses should do what makes the most sense for their brands, experts say. So what's the key? Make sure that your Twitter voice reflects your company culture. For example, Zappos — a fast-growing, lighthearted online company that sells shoes and other merchandise — recently tweeted a quote from Pooh’s Little Instruction Book. But... Discover on the other hand uses Twitter for posts on consumer spending and financial resources for customers. Twitter is all about transparency, so it’s important to be authentic when you tweet so that your company’s personality — whatever it is — comes through clearly. Think of your Twitter experience to a water-cooler conversation: Being relatable and fun is crucial, but staying true to your company’s core values matters most. 3. Tweet to attract and retain customers Twitter can boost customer service to a new level, as Comcast found when it established a Twitter account specifically to handle Internet complaints and other technical service problems. In a recent correspondence with a customer on Twitter, Comcast tweeted the same questions a representative would ask on a technical support hotline and received answers via Twitter. But instead of leaving the customer on hold for hours, Comcast was able to identify the problem immediately and send out a technician. Consumers are impressed — and often surprised — by a business that openly and directly addresses customer-service problems. Twitter allows businesses, big and small, to take that extra step whether it’s about complaints or simple product queries. For example, Take Zettler Hardware, the oldest hardware store in Columbus, Ohio, which fields questions on common plumbing problems on Twitter, often responding to photos uploaded on Twitter (Twitpics), and replies with recommendations for replacement parts and repair strategies. This kind of instant and robust customer service builds loyalty that’s hard to come by through traditional methods, says Rodney Rumford, co-founder of TweetPhoto. “The biggest sin,” he says, “is being silent.” 4. Twitter’s just the first step While Twitter should be part of any savvy business daily marketing, it’s only the beginning of a successful social-networking strategy. “Twitter is a way to get your foot in the door,” Rumford says. “It’s the start to building a relationship.” For business-to-business companies, Twitter’s a great way to network. Author Ojeda-Zapata gave the example of Mark Palony, a marketing manager at the software company SoftBrands, who was looking to collaborate with German software giant SAP, Palony searched Twitter for SAP mentions and began following an SAP worker near his area. He initiated some sports small talk through tweets and — with continual contact — moved on to actual meetings. Palony now calls it his “single best use of Twitter.” Tweeting, Ojeda-Zapata says, is like having drinks online. It can easily lead to drinks in real life, formal business meetings — and eventually, company growth. 5. Have fun and be creative The very nature of Twitter — from its 140-character limit to its faithful followers — attracts users with a short-attention span, so the best tweets keep users coming back. Interactivity can be a great way to do that: Auntie Anne’s and Dairy Queen ask customers about their favorite pretzel dips or Blizzard flavors through tweets, while at Home Depot confused shoppers can tweet for help as they search the aisles for particular products. Twitter’s GPS function can also point businesses in the right direction. Cupcake Stop, a New York cupcake truck company, tweets its location to customers as it moves throughout Manhattan, and Union Pacific lets fans track a historic steam engine road-trip across America. The experts agree there’s no right way to use Twitter, but with these strategies, you won’t tweet the wrong way. Time to start the conversation.

Marketing Strategies: Affiliate Marketing Disclosure now Required by Law
June 24, 2009Looks like Affiliate Marketing going under the scrutny of the Fedral Trade Commission. i personally have always taught folks to brand them self and not try to look like you ARE the company that you get commissions from, but now bloggers and affiliate marketers will be forced to disclose they are indeed an affiliate.
I'm not sure when this will take effect, probably early fall from the reports I've read. Here is the link to an article by the associated press. http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5j6DZ0gpsCSwquntzof4FR4yfqYXwD98V7B880

Affiliate Marketing Disclosure Now Required By Law?
Affliate Marketing and the internet has grown by leaps and bounds the last couple of years. I guess we should expect a few regulations. I'll keep you posted as rules are rolled out. As for affiliate marketing strategies? Create your own brand and image... make sure folks know they can contact you with questions, folks would much rather purchase from someone who they know like and trust.

Social Marketing Strategies: Taking Twitter to the next Level
June 23, 2009
OK, so you’ve got your twitter account up and cooking, you’re using 3rd party apps to filter and aggregate search (I use tweetdeck) and you’ve got a tweeting routing down pat, now what?
Now it’s time to take a much deeper look into the social web and start looking deeper into conversation themes, discovering who’s influencing what, who’s saying what and how often, and what’s trending around a topic. There is a new breed of search engine forming around the “now search” that is plugging into social sites like twitter as well as blogs and social networks.
Below are three newish real-time search engines that allow you to take a deep look as what’s going right now.
OneRiot - this is essentially a bookmarking site for twitter. Users share tweets that contain URLs to web pages and this site keeps track and returns search results based on topics. This is a really great way to discover some new sites related to subjects and you can interact with the twitter shares right from the site by replying to or retweeting good stuff you find.
Topsy - lots of stats when you search including the a collection of authors by volume for each topic you are trending. Really like this to find people who are very active around a topic or who are your best retweeters.
crowdeye - currently a twitter only search engine it gives you results from tweets and retweets including graphs and charts.

Social Media Marketing Strategies
June 20, 2009
A message from...
Cindy McAsey-Marketing Strategies Coach
In the world of Social Media, there is no exact right way to get started social marketing. The strategies will probably have lots of variables such as:
1. Overall Goals - Are you looking to increase SEO, brand recognition, targeted traffic, conversions, etc.?
2. Finding Followers - Where can you go online to find the majority of your targeted demographic?
3. Available Manpower - Are you a one man (or woman) show? Or do you have people you can outsource to? Maybe you work for a company who has staff on hand to assist?
In a perfect world, you would clone yourself since you know exactly what you would like to happen within your social media campaign. However, we are far from a perfect world, so in reality, we are limited by time and resources.Depending on your resources, you may need to determine which methods to focus on first then build into your overall marketing plan.
Seek out Targeted Networks
You are ultimately after targeted traffic. There is no point in joining networks that have no interest in your niche or business. This traffic will more than likely never convert into a lead or even a sale. In other words you will be wasting your time.
You will need to research various sites such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Myspace, etc. to determine which site(s) have the audience more suited for your business or service. Choosing targeted networks to be a part of will increase your relevancy and provide you with a funnel of highly targeted traffic interested in what you have to offer.
Guest Blogging
Is one way to get started in the social media world, it might not be a bad idea to approach more established social media sites in regards to guest blogging for them. Guest blogging is basically offering to write a blog post that gets posted on their site. In return you usually get to post a small plug or snippet about you or your site at the end of the blog post. If you look closely at my blogs I have a few guest bloggers.
Guest blogging accomplishes a few things.
- It establishes credibility for yourself on a large scale/established site
- You get a nice link back to your site.
Utilizing the various social bookmarking sites such as Digg, StumbleUpon, Reddit, delicious and Newsvine; you can not only create backlinks, but create a buzz about your site if you have linkworthy content. If your submission is linkworthy, chances it may be picked up by other bloggers and drive even more traffic to your site. Unfortunately, most social bookmarking traffic is not the highest converting depending on your approach, angle, and product or service offered.
Create & Execute a Plan
While there are certainly more available options than what I listed above, it is up to you to decide what methods are best suited for your business or service. After looking over potential social media options, I suggest creating a plan or map of potential sites and audiences to target.
Review your plan once it is completed and revise it if necessary. Be sure to eliminate any site(s) that do not suit your targeted audience. This will allow you to focus more effort towards sites containing people with interests related to your product or service which will increase the chance of a lead. With your plan in place, it is time to execute it. Do your best to monitor traffic using Google Analytics or Veretracking. If you see a particular social media site driving more targeted traffic to your site, look at increasing your activity on this social media site while scaling back on social media sites not performing as well.
These basic social media marketing strategies should give you a great foundation to build your social media campaign on. Remember to track your progress and focus on targeting networks relevant to your niche, removing or reducing efforts on lower performing social media sites.

June 17, 2009Surely by now you realize twitter is one of my favorite social networks. If you use the right tools it's one of the fastest ways to connect with folks in your target market (niche).
