There are millions of competing voices (blogs) on the net. So, how do you continue to increase the readership of your blog in an ethical way?...

After you've been on the web for some time you "get" that the only way to expand your reach on the web is by SHARING with others who are working in the same niche as you. This "sharing" has traditionally taken the form of link exchanges, JV's, viral eBooks, banner exchanges etc.
However, over the last 6 months I have been studying the viral potential of new Web 2.0 applications, and determining how they can be used to extend your REACH by sharing (in whatever niche market you operate on the web).
There are some stunning, viral, Web 2.0 applications being launched.
Watch this space! :-)

I am NOT making this up. It's the truth.
Every day I get nonsense and junk sent to me from Internet "marketers".
I get junk in my Email Inbox (irrespective of how many filters I put in place), so that email has virtually become a useless tool that now INVADES my personal space and it just costs me unneccessary time to wade through the junk to find anything that's meaningful to me... and I RESENT it. And, I get junk from automated programs filling in forms on my web sites about offers that have NOTHING to do with my business, and in most cases nothing to do with any of my personal interests or needs... and I RESENT it.
These practices have NOTHING to do with marketing. There is a much BETTER way! ...

When is a toothbrush not a toothbrush? Well, when the company that manufactures it upsells that toothbrush as a device which does something OTHER than clean your teeth. So, how does a toothbrush manufacturer create an ever expanding market for something as basic and utilitarian as a toothbrush... and continue to sell it to us people who need an oral hygiene solution? ...
Now, let's be real here... a toothbrush is a toothbrush, is a toothbrush.
It's just a device that cleans your teeth, and massages your gums, that's it! This is all that a toothbrush ever needs to do to be an effective oral hygiene device.

When corporations like Disney and Whirlpool start speaking at corporate summits on podcasting then clearly podcasting is no longer solely in the realm of the 'techie".
The (usage and uptake) stats about podcasting, ipods and MP3 players are impressive, for example...

At the end of the day, this Internet marketing "thingy" is the same ole, same ole (the "video" - "podcasting" example demonstrates that).
Yes, it's a new technology, however... 'ignore the internet marketing hype', because the craft of marketing, is marketing, is marketing...
All one needs to do is 're-orientate' oneself within this new medium.

The Internet is meant to be about delivering quality information to users, right? So, why doesn't it?
Yes, you can go to search engines, key in a search term (keyword phrase) and be directed to millions of web site pages which purportedly will solve your needs for specific information.
However, with few exceptions (such as news sites and forums) the information on most web sites is generally static, meaning that the information generally doesn't change...

Just 10% of the population of China are currently on the Internet... however China is now the second most important Internet-based market in the world.
And... this market of 100 million users is expanding fast. It cannot be ignored...

Having lived and worked in Taiwan (a predominately Chinese culture) for 3 years (and still being able to speak passable Mandarin) I do have some experience and a perspective on how this would be done (reach the Chinese market via the net).
However, I'm not about to tell the world how to reach the Chinese market on a channel item post here (for obvious reasons).
Yet, if you're serious about reaching the Chinese market and are prepared to invest the time and money that it would take to achieve this, then go through to http://www.feedyourhungrymi... and communicate with me.
Cheers

Why not present our MLM products to the world of China. I would like to know how to acquire Leads from China.
Well it had to happen... a news site dedicated to Internet marketing news! "Making it easy and convenient to get the latest news and headlines impacting the Internet Marketing world" (says the Press Release).
This is one smart idea, if it's done right. Time will tell...

This need not be so, if you follow these steps...
You need to have a way with words in order to increase the traffic to your web site. However, sometimes, the most intelligent people in the world can have difficulty effectively communicating their ideas in writing to others.

As the mainstream media is now beginning to adopt podcasting as a delivery technology (Fox News) it's crystal clear to me that podcasting (just like that "new" technology, video) is now here to stay.
Podcasting (and how to use it to market online) is something that I teach in my 'Taming The eBeastie' series.

I enjoyed your podcast very much. Effective internet marketing skills can be learned by anyone. Focused effort on SEO is critical!
Thanks for the great info!
Butch Hamilton
Well, Thank you. I do appreciate your kind words.
I firmly believe that "what you give in service to others, comes back to you many times over".
Internet marketing is not some secret or mystical science, as many would have you believe. It's a process that anyone can master.
This is what I teach in my 'Taming The eBeastie' series, the process of Internet marketing.

Admittedly, this is the first of your articles that I have read. Butch Hamilton has mentioned your name on various occasions, and I now understand why he was so impressed.
This article was most informative, concise and straight to the point. Thank you for your time and knowledge! I will certainly be looking forward to reading your articles in the future.

It is now a well established fact that people primarily use the Internet to search for information on specific topics to solve specific problems.
Now (of course) there are other ways the Internet is used too...

Since the birth of the commercial Internet good writing has driven the development and search engine positioning of web sites.
Good web site content (next to keywords) has been and always will be the King, Queen and whole Royal Court of marketing success on the web.

Thank you so much for all your help last night! I look forward to meeting with you again soon!

Yes, you're right about the amount of "good" writing on the Internet.
However, all that this means is that if you focus on one topic and write well about that topic then it will just be so easy to shine now, won't it?
The core idea here being that people come to the Internet to find information, GOOD information.
Give them that and people get what they want... and the search engines get what they want. And then you get what you want (traffic and prospects) :-)
Kenneth Doyle - The eAnalyst
Nice article!!! But I do disagree with your opening statement: GOOD writing has NOT always been the "norm" on the Internet.
Matter of fact, IMHO, 90% of the content I see on marketing/ business sites is pure dreck! It's only been in the last few years that content - meaning high quality writing - has really been the driving force behind SE rankings.
The stuff written by the bloated and overpaid fat cats - the gurus - most definitely does NOT meet my criteria for high quality content, no matter how much they charge for their services as a copy writer. And I won't even comment on the drivel propagated by the most popular article exchanges.
Well, enuff of that. Send me a QMTP some time. Would love to talk.
Peace!
John Botscharow
I have not officially met you yet, but I was listening closely to you tonight in the webconference with Carolyn and Tim.
I look forward to sharing ideas with you at some point. I think we are definitely like-minded in our thoughts on marketing!
Thanks!
