New Years Songwriting Resolutions For 2005

Merry Christmas and a happy 2005 to all!!!

A lot of people make new years resolutions for all sorts of reasons with good intentions but they tend to be broken within the first week of the new year.

Me included.

However, while surfing the net I found a great article that would be the perfect list of things to include with your own songwriting resolutions for 2005.

As you are probably aware I had taken an extended break from the channel and from the computer in general for mainly personal reasons but now with 2005 here I am ready to get stuck into the channel again and make this one of the more comprehensive songwriting sites on the internet.

One of the reasons was burnout. I do way too many things at the same time and I dont have enough time for myself so therefore one of my resolutions for 2005 is to create more balance in my life so that burnout is less likely to occur in the future. How I achieve that becomes a list of goals that I set for myself.

Some of my songwriting resolutions for 2005 are as follows:

1. Keep writing in my journal every day

2. Spend at least two hours a day either practising or songwriting (or both)

3. Get myself into a better state of fitness (Fit body=fit mind)

4. Rid myself of clutter and unecessary distractions

This is just a start for me as my list of resolutions and goals can be quite extensive but I think that its important that as songwriters we have activity goals that we pursue. The more songs that we write the more good songs that we write.

The article I was writing about earlier is by David E Schindler from Burnhamlea Music of Canada. I found it on Muses Muse (one of my favourite songwriting resource sites). You can go straight to the article here.

Pay close attention to the ten golden rules that David has written for himself, I know I will.

Until next time, happy writing
