Affordable Web Conferencing - New Q Chatroom?

Wednesday, December 01, 2004
As you may know, Quikonnex has been providing link to Free Webconferencing room via the CoiTalk system. The limitation of this is that it's only free if you're doing a 1 on 1 conference. Once you get 3 people or more in a room, it'll cost you $4/attendee for the month. That's a minimum of $12.00. Additionally, the CoiTalk conference room doesn't provide for voice, so you have to either use it in conjunction with a Yahoo voice conference or a telephone conference call. Now there's another affordable option.

I've yet to see a deal like this offered before for full audio web conferencing. For as little as $29.99/month, someone can now have an unlimited seat web conference room. Hot Conference is a new service by Kiosk.ws that is unlike any other conferencing system I've tried. And believe me, I've tried just about all of them. This one has a very clean user interface, allows you to share web pages, has a whiteboard, and provides full moderation capability. Supposedly it uses some Peer-to-peer technologies so that it doesn't bog down their servers. They're also working on additional modules for web cam and application sharing.

Here's the catch though.... it's also tied into a 4x9 matrix compensation plan. If you know me, I've never been a fan of matrix MLM programs. However, the pricing is VERY competitive. So I'll let this slide. Even if you don't want to make money with a web conferencing opportunity, you might not be able to avoid it with this system. The pricing is right on target and the quality is excellent.

Here's one other package they offer that I think provides some interesting possibilities. They're offering a $44.99 5 room package (again with unlimited seating). This is about $9/room. So here's an idea, use one for your business, use one for family gatherings, and rent out the other 3 (or resell them). You can have multiple rooms open at a time, so you could be monitoring one for customer support and another for those friends or family that want to stop by and chat. Could be some fun stuff.

I've acquired a room for Quikonnex and we may start using it instead of Yahoo for our conferences. We'll still use our more expensive room for Thursday night sessions due to it's more extensive features (such as recording), but I like the idea of being able to display a web page during our regular chats. P.S. I'd like to thank Jim Vigilante for turning me on to this system. I've been on his list for years and he consistently finds good stuff out on the Net.
