Billions Of Dollars Going To The Dogs!

BILLIONS OF DOLLARS GOING TO THE DOGS!

Wow! Wouldn't you like to have a piece of this pie? I sure would. Can you believe that we spend more on pet care than on baby food?

At least three fourths of the people, in the United States, own at least one pet.

Most of us treat them as a member of the family. I think that people that are becoming empty nesters, do even more so. Our human kids are off to college and their own lives and they are sorely missed, so we turn to our pets for comfort. And they give it. They love and adore us unconditionally, so why not treat them as a member of the family? They're precious and loyal.

Here are a few tidbits I bet you didn't know from www.healthfoodforpets.com....

1. More money is spent on pet sales than in the toy and baby food industries combined
2. 75% of all Americans own a pet
3. 83% would be likely to risk their lives to save their pet
4. 87% take their pets to veterinarians for regular checkups, vaccinations and teeth cleanings.
5. 82% buy premium pet food
6. 77% have their pets groomed
7. People spend more time reading nutritional labels on pet food (41%) than their own food (37%)
8. Four in ten cats (44%) receive a Christmas gift

Pet Product Sales are a 30 Billion dollar a year industry!

So, when it comes to the pet care industry, you can see why it's such big business. There are even pet insurance companies cropping up all over the place! Yep! Just like our medical insurance.

I have it for my pets, and it has come in pretty handy already! When I first got Sophie, my little Peke, she had a navel hernia and had to have surgery. So I submitted the paperwork to our pet insurance company and got a little more than half of the money back! Pretty good huh? They also helped with the cost of spaying Sophie and neutering Bear, my male SmoothCoat Chow. (By the way, he's a big baby and very loving!)

I believe that pet care, at least here in the United States is becoming just as important as our own health care. After all, we want them to have happy healthy lives, so that they'll be around a long time, right?

And now, what is wonderful to me, is that I can shop for pet care products online! Especially since I hate going out to shop!

There are so many online pet stores to choose from! It's fun to research and find the best deals! Try it yourself! Go on the Internet and put "pet care" in your favorite search engine and see what comes up! There are over a million pages of pet care information online! There's pet care for dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, gerbils, mice, rats, snakes, iguanas, fish, just about every animal you can think of there is a pet care site available!

There are even pet day care centers cropping up all over! You can leave your pets there while you're at work! That way they aren't getting mischievous, alone at home, i.e. getting into your garbage and strewing it all over your kitchen, or house. Or, chewing on your favorite shoes! And some pet care centers offer to keep your pets when you want to go on vacation!

Did you know that there are even fish doctors out there? I didn't until I saw it on television a week or so ago. I knew that Marine Biologists studied and took care of fish, but I didn't know that there are actually fish veterinarians now! It stands to reason though, there are many fish tanks out there!

There's even homeopathic, holistic, and natural pet care. Hmmm, wonder if we'll be seeing pet chiropractors? :)

Pets bring such comfort to us, they understand when we're happy, sad, or in pain. They all have their own unique personalities. I enjoy my dogs so much; they make me laugh with their antics! If I'm in bed not feeling well, they're right there with me. The only time they leave me is to go outside to do their business.

I'm sure that most people feel the same way about their pets as I do, and give the best possible care to their furry kids, as I do mine. They're worth every penny. So it's no wonder that the pet care business is such big industry.

I try to feed my dogs the best food I can find to keep them healthy. I have them groomed about every 5 weeks and I have pet insurance for them, just in case they get hurt or sick.

Some might say they're spoiled, and maybe they are! But they're worth every bit of spoiling they get, for the love and joy they bring me. Some people think that a dog is a dog is a dog, but they deserve the best care they can get, after all, they work for us, play for us, and show for us. Give your animal the best care you can and you will reap the rewards ten fold! :)
