Do your pets have fleas? Itchy skin? Heartworms maybe? Allergies? Dander? Did you know that we have medications for all of these things, and more?
I prefer Frontline, for fleas on my dogs. Some people swear by Advantage. I've used both, and they work equally as well in my opinion. There are also generic versions I have found by searching on the internet.
Sometimes, if the fleas are really bad, you'll have to take your animals to the groomer, or vet and have them dipped. Which means they are being dipped in strong chemicals. It's better for your pet, to be groomed regularly and use one of the above prevention pet products. You can find these pet medications at a physical brick and mortar pet store, or do a search for these products at online pet supply stores.
You should also get some flea bombs from your vet. Not from the store [because in my opinion they aren't strong enough] and bomb your house while your pets are at the groomers. If your flea infestation is really bad, you might have to do these things every couple of weeks for a couple of months. Yes, it can get very expensive! That's why I believe in using prevention and grooming.
How about itchy skin? Some Veterinarians give prednisone for itchy skin to calm your pet down enough that they won't scratch. Personally, I feed my dogs a teaspoon of yogurt every day. It's very good for their skin and coat. And mine don't scratch! It's wonderful. But sometimes it can be more serious than just itching. So please always get your pets checked out to see if they have a more serious problem, requiring pet medications.
Heartworm and hookworm can kill your dog. You should always have your pets checked for these things. It just takes a visit to your vet and they'll give your pets a simple blood test to find out whether they have heart or hookworm. I give my dogs a preventative medicine once a month. Oooh, that reminds me, it's time to give it to them! :) Be right back....
Ok, that's done. Thank goodness they make these medications a flavor that dogs like. And chewable, so that I don't have to hide it in food! Wish they could do that with all pet medications.
Did you know your pets can suffer from colds and allergies just like humans? They sure do! I guess it stands to reason though, it seems the more domesticated they become, the more they get the same things we get. There are pet medications for these things too. You can find them either at a brick and mortar pet store, or an online pet supply store as well. You'll probably find that it's less expensive at an online pet supply store.
What about pet dander? Doesn't seem to bother me with Sophie, my Pekingese. But oooh, sometimes I can't get near Bear, my smoothcoat Chow Chow. I can smell that dander on him and I start sneezing. But I'm allergic to a lot of other things too, so I take human allergy pills and that helps with those things and with pet dander. ;)
There is an easy way to allergy-proof your cat or dog. Humans, if allergic, are basically allergic to the pet's dander or dandruff, not the hair. The animal's skin should be kept in tip-top condition, avoiding excess dryness and shedding. There are food additives to add to your pet's diet that helps keep skin moist. Pet supply stores and your veterinarian can recommend such products. This is from l

There are pet medications for just about any pet you can think of. There are even pet pharmacies! I've found them online! I just did a search for "pet medications" in a search engine and came up with 184,000 pages of information!
The pet health care business is becoming just as big as human health care! And so it should. There are also a few pet insurance companies now [and more cropping up all the time]. After all, our pets are very important to us. We treat them as members of our family. Take good care of them and they'll love you for it.
