The world of RSS and or Weblogs is a phenominal way to get the word out to the public at large as to all that you and your business have to offer. You have the opportunity to have your content picked up and passed on to audiences far removed from your own sphere of subscribers through the use of a wonderful networking tool called syndication.....
(If you either have Popups blocked or are not allowing Java Scripts to run you will find a HTML link(s) at the end of this article)
Now as with any sharing of information there is a thing called etiquette that should be followed.
Being as you are asking others to show your content on their website you should respect the fact that they also want their site to load at least as quickly as you want your site to load. The reason for this is their audience is no less fickle than yours when it comes to clicking off a site that takes too long to load.
Also other things to consider are that some RSS readers can't interpret things like images and script code. Therefore search engines for syndicated feeds don't like objects other than text when they go looking for content for this very reason.
Syndication which normally will include the title of your article and in some cases the first few lines of the body should be inspected to make sure that it contains nothing that would slow down the loading of the hosting website. Nor should it include anything that would cause an RSS reader to choke or the search engines to turn their nose up at your content.
With this in mind Jim and Carolyn founders of Quikonnex have provided an extended body area for all the items that would, in normal course, slow the loading of a hosts website. Pictures as well as streaming and non-streaming audio and/or video should never be displayed in the main body of an item. These should always be relagated to the extended body portion of your item.
Yes your summary (main) page looks a lot more exciting with the pictures etc. displayed but really what good are they if no one wants to display the feeds you have worked so hard to produce.
Imagine if you would how you would feel if the feed you were asked to syndicate caused your site to measurably slow down in loading.
The first thing you would do (besides the use of some colourful language) is yank that feed in short order. Then, depending on your frame of mind, you would have some terse words for the publisher of that feed and quite possibly the hosting service of that feed for not better educating its members.
We all know how fast the word can spread on the internet and the last thing any of us needs is Quikonnex getting a black eye due to the impropriety of a few untrained and/or unethical publishers.
So before you post your latest article to your channel look it over, not only for spelling and content. The reason it is not being syndicated or ranked may not soley be the improper selection of keywords or lack of content, but may also be due to the lack of thought given to how you have placed the information in the article. Others who may very well want to include your information on their site, don't due to the fact that you haven't considered them when you put it together by included slow loading items in the wrong area.
It is far too easy in this world of high speed connections to forget that for the most part many subscribers still use dial-up to connect and because of that those images and the like still take a long time to load. So for anyone who has a number of subscribers on dial-up, page loading time is an important concern. Especially when they have only approximately six seconds of attention span with which to get their audience interested.
