On Republican principles:
"If you believe that government should be accountable to the people, not the people to the government...then you are a Republican! If you believe a person should be treated as an individual, not as a member of an interest group...then you are a Republican! If you believe your family knows how to spend your money better than the government does...then you are a Republican! If you believe our educational system should be held accountable for the progress of our children...then you are a Republican! If you believe this country, not the United Nations, is the best hope of democracy in the world...then you are a Republican! And, ladies and gentlemen...if you believe we must be fierce and relentless and terminate terrorism...then you are a Republican!" --Arnold Schwarzenegger

Hi Bobette,
Arnold WAS good, wasn't he?? IF he could somehow 'qualify', I believe he'd run for president :)
To borrow a line from one of the "Rocky" films, he had the 'eye of the tiger' ... I truly sensed he wants to be more than a governor.
On a second note ...
Remember when Reagan and Mondale debated? Mondale clearly won those debates.
Yet, the people elected Reagan because they felt more comfortable with him.
The debates will be interesting to watch. To me, Kerry has YET to define himself ... his record has, mostly, done that for him.
I can't find myself able to trust Kerry ... he seems unable to stand firm on issues ... he seems better able to 'attack'.
Kerry seems more like a wet sponge ... not a good foundation.
Bush is more like a rock, to me. Something you can build on, rely on. Right or wrong, you know WHERE Bush stands. We won't always agree (with Bush), but we know he 'draws the line in the sand' ... AND sticks with it :)
Oh yes, Bobbi, I've always liked Ahnold anyway...lol
My boyfriend and I really enjoyed his speech and responded with "YES!" and "AMEN!" and high fives several times. These people who think we should tiptoe around make me sick!
Bush ain't perfect, but then NO president has been (don't get me started on Clinton!) I fear for this nation if Kerry wins.
Ah Debra, wasn't he classic? That's the kind of talk I remember back in the 50s and early 60s before the "sensitivity groups" took over. They tell the politicians how to be politically correct - how to dress, walk, talk and for heaven's sake don't hurt anyones feelings. What a bunch of girly men they have become. Not Zel or Arnold! I loved it. The Dems and a lot of "sensitive" types are just whimpy. Here is a bit of Zel's speech...
"Senator Kerry has made it clear that he would use military force only if approved by the United Nations. Kerry would let Paris decide when America needs defending. I want Bush to decide. Motivated more by partisan politics than by national security, today's Democrat leaders see America as an occupier, not a liberator.
And nothing makes this Marine madder than someone calling American troops occupiers rather than liberators. Tell that to the one-half of Europe that was freed because Franklin Roosevelt led an army of liberators, not occupiers. Tell that to the lower half of the Korean Peninsula that is free because Dwight Eisenhower commanded an army of liberators, not occupiers.
Tell that to the half a billion men, women and children who are free today from the Baltics to the Crimea, from Poland to Siberia, because Ronald Reagan rebuilt a military of liberators, not occupiers. Never in the history of the world has any soldier sacrificed more for the freedom and liberty of total strangers than the American soldier." --Sen. Zell Miller - a Democrat.
Amen! I liked Arnold's speech and the one by Zel Miller the best of all.
