SBI is a 'build your own web site online' system.

This means that all the technical components needed for your web site exist on super servers in Canada. There is no need to understand HTML, web design programs, hosting, list servers, and a numerous other technical functions required to create a functioning web site.

SBI is an extremely powerful, flexible system. However, with the creation of your own SBI web site all you'll need to know is your own business, and decide whether you'll build your site using HTML or SBI's unique block build online system.

This is the first decision you need to make before your web site building phase commences in earnest...

The two (construction) choices you have are to build your own site using a web design program (FrontPage or Dreamweaver) and upload this to your SBI system OR... use SBI's online block building system.

People get far too HUNG up on the look of a web site. In relation to the fact that there are in the vicinity of 16.6 MILLION web sites on the web the uniqueness of a web site is somewhat irrelevant, because SE's rank content, not pretty designs. People use SE's to find information. Content is KING!

More important considerations are a) Is the site's navagation CLEAR. b) Can visitors find their way around your site to find the information they want, c) Is the site crisp, professional looking and fast loading.

In this context web design is important, however in relation to 'competing' with other sites it's not.

Choose HTML construction and upload:

If this is your design choice then you'll need to know how to use a web design program. Create your pages, follow the SBI instructions on uploading HTML... and upload. With SBI you could also use both functions of HTML upload and block building. Maybe your front page would be the "look" and the backend content pages on your SBI could be created with the block building system? It's your choice.

If traditional web site "look" is your thing then you can even get HTML templates designed specifically for SBI web sites.

Choose block building system:

This is much easier. You build your site online, block by SBI block. No HTML knowledge is required. All you do is choose an SBI template, and point, click, build... block by SBI block.

Building your /index page (home page):

The first page you build on your SBI is your home page. Follow the SBI instructions very closely. The /index page is unique in the SBI system, and the method of creating it (block building method) is different from all the subsequent SBI pages you'll build on your SBI site.

Your previous work with SBI Manager will have given you a) a list of profitable keywords within theme for your site, b) your domain name (if you're not using your company name), and c) the online marketing strategy for your content web site.
