The American Ponzi
Trina L.C. Sonnenberg
The government of the United States of America is a ponzi scheme. There, I said it. The top 1% are collecting their riches off the backs of the rest of us. That's you and me; we are the 99% who barely scrape by. (The middle and lower classes of citizens.)
We are all up in arms about this type of scam online. Internet marketing has taken the biggest hit for scams, but look at our own government here. Politicians are among the wealthiest Americans and they get their money from Corporate America, and of course through taxing the hell out of ordinary working people.
This is not how democracy is supposed to work. The 1% looking out for themselves while stomping on the 99% who actually do the work that makes them rich. We have become a nation of entitlement in that the rich feel entitled to the wealth they have acquired, regardless of how they got it, or who has suffered for them to get it. And, they will do whatever it takes to keep it.
The big corporations will continue to make obscene profits, employing slave labor in other countries, denying American workers a living wage and selling their products to those Americans at record high prices. They will continue to pay ridiculous sums of money to get their candidates elected to keep safe their profits. Meanwhile... The American people who are not a part of the select 1% will continue to be taxed to death, lose their civil rights, not to mention their Constitutional rights, and ultimately their lives.
America is starving her poor to death. The economy will not get better until the working class people stand up for themselves in a meaningful way. These corporations are cutting their own throats and they refuse to see it. If the people have no money to spend because they have no jobs, they cannot buy the crap that Corporate America is selling; therefore, Corporate America makes no money.
Sure the super wealthy will have food to eat, until their money runs out, or until their money has no value, due to market declines. They won't make money if no one can afford to spend any. They know this. That is why banks aren't lending money. They are hoarding it.
Everyone's credit is in the toilet. Lenders are not required to report credit, good or bad, and most don't report on good credit. My credit report does not state that I have made my mortgage payments on time for the last ten years, but it does show that I was late on a credit card payment. The bank is not required to report my good payment habits. Therefore, my credit report only consists of negative things. I am sure I am not the only one who is experiencing this problem.
Personally, I think that the credit rating system should be destroyed. Credit should not exist. We should be a cash and carry country. The slate should be erased and everyone should be put on a level playing field. All debts are off, and you live with what you've got. If you can't pay in cash, you should do without. That is the only way to keep people from spending what they haven't got.
Perhaps that is why everything costs so much. Those doing the selling know that if the people want it they can charge it if they haven't the money right now. Perhaps if we went back to a cash only system, prices would drop so that everyone would truly have equal opportunity. Remove Corporate America from power.
Have you ever noticed that when the government starts talking about budget cuts, the subject of their enormous salaries never enters the discussion? If our politicians took a pay cut, the budget issues would lessen. We the people are paying more than 100 people more than $200,000 a year; that's a lot of money. Perhaps they would be more supportive of tax breaks for the poor, if they were to have less themselves. The government seems to only see that taking from those who have nothing to give will preserve their way of life. Social Security, health care, education, etc...
Education should be accessible to everyone, not just those who can afford to pay for it. There is absolutely no reason that young people should have to go into debt to get an education. That is ridiculous. Why is it that education costs money? Because that is how the wealthy keep control. If the majority of the people are uneducated than the elitists have no competition. The masses are turned into sheep for the slaughter because they are kept ignorant. The media bends over backward to support this position too. The spin doctors control what you know and lead you to believe what they want you to believe; unfortunately, that is not always the truth. We have been turned against ourselves. The Haves are beating the shit out of the Have Nots and it is time for it to stop!
We the People have lost control and it is time to take it back. We are a nation of the people, by the people and for the people and it is high time we started acting like it!

Hi Trina,
This may seem like nit picking, but I tend to view the US as a Republic versus being a democracy.
The Ponzi scheme you mention is true, one I tend to think was started by the elite bankers very long ago.
As far as your education comments go, I agree. What the "standards" are now are far below when I attended middle and high school.
Some folks seem hopelessly addicted to watching hours of TV ... geesh, can't we think of more important things to do than wonder who's gonna get kicked out of American Idol this week??
Just remember, a formal education MAY help you earn a living ... self education is NOW paramount. We would hope that folks would at least learn to view different view points, listen, do their own research and form their own opinion, NOT necessarily how reporters put their 'spin' on it.
I'm now learning some new skills that may help my family out when the bottom bursts out. Canning, gardening and others... something I had no real interest in 5-6 years ago.
We have indeed lost control ... and, to me, the best place to start is your own family. If we don't have leaders in the home, should we REALLY expect leadership on the grander scale??
