Follow Me..?
To Tweet or Not to Tweet
Trina L.C. Sonnenberg
Every day I open my mailbox to discover that I have at least 20 new followers on Twitter. While that may seem very flattering, it also seems a bit unrealistic, especially in light of the new software that is being touted all over the Internet, to help a person get followers. But must you follow everyone that is following you? I don't think so.

I don't follow everyone that follows me. If I go to someone's page and they haven't written a bio, I don't follow. If someone is following me and they don't have a similar purpose, I don't follow them.
Just today, I received a follow notice from a guy whose profile says, "Creator And Marketer of Our New Twitter Software that builds relationships Hands Free all over the World with People who have the same Interest. as You." Now, I would really like to know how one goes about establishing relationship 'Hands-Free'. That's like using an auto responder to establish a relationship. Pretty phony.
Relationships are built through mutual communication, not one sided communication. It has gotten to the point with Twitter, at least in my experience, that it is just another venue to push your stuff on to others whether or not they are interested.
Titter isn't all bad; I'm following some pretty interesting people. But, there are those few bad apples in the bunch that use these software programs to gather followers.
Personally, I can't stand it when I take the time to check out a follower of min to find a blank Twitter page; no photo, no bio, no nothing. I feel as though my time has been wasted. You can't build a relationship with a blank page.
To establish relationships, you have to get your hands dirty. You have to meet people, introduce yourself and let them introduce themselves. I don't want to hear about what a person is selling, I want to know about the person. But, that's just me.
What is your Twitter experience? Am I alone in this?
