Internet Marketing - Where do you start first?
| Saturday, July 25, 2009 |
There are just so many ways for you to market your business on the web. The wide range of possible options can be very confusing, so where do you start first?
As the famous Chinese proverb states... "Every journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step".
You start where you are (at the beginning).
One very good low-cost way to start your marketing is with content, and here are the reasons why.
The currency of the web is content; articles, reviews, videos, audios,
widgets etc. This content is distributed across the web via blogs, websites,
RSS news feeds, podcasts, press releases, forums, social media etc.
When you create multiple channels of content which are constantly being spidered by the search engines you create multiple ways for people to find you on the Internet.
To begin this marketing process choose ONE of the mediums from the list above. Learn how to search engine optimize the content and/ or the systems you intend to place it on, create your content and then spread it across as many distribution channels on the web as you can find.
For example, if you choose articles as your first content medium to focus on then write your articles and get them out on as many article directories as you can find. Do this in a systematic way for 3 months, then move to the next content medium and repeat the process.
The best way to implement this content marketing strategy is to create your own content marketing process sheets, FIRST. Define your publication and submission cycle and then IMPLEMENT this strategy for THREE months!
Then... move on to your next content marketing strategy, outsource your article marketing and submission strategy and repeat the process. In six months - if you maintain your submission plan - you will have more traffic to your web properties than you know what to do with.
