What a Hack!
Under Attack

First off, I would like to apologize to my Dear Readers for not having been around lately. I have been off line for a couple of weeks; though not because I chose to be. So, let me explain...
A couple of months ago, I wrote an article about drive-by WiFi stealing. Well, although I thought I had my machine securely locked up, I was attacked by a hacker. Apparently, I had not been thorough enough in my security, and someone hacked into my machine through my router.
The damage they did to my machine was immense. I ran scan after scan, and found nothing, yet my programs, one by one, kept failing. It came to the point that I could not even restore my computer to the previous day, let alone all the way back to when my router had been tapped into. My virus scanner was totally destroyed too. Normally, I'd be able to track the incoming pings to my machine, but the damage made that impossible as well.
I never did find out what it was that turned my expensive computer into a hunk of junk, but I did manage to fix it myself. It wasn't easy, and it took a great deal of time. I lost two weeks of work as a result of this attack, and I am working diligently to get caught up.
Please understand that this never had an effect on any of my web sites or feeds, it was contained to my machine only.
Let this be a lesson to you, as it was for me... You may think it only happens to the other guy, but you are the other guy. You are someone else's someone else.
