Thank goodness for happy accidents

You know, it's sometimes the random, accidental things that happen along the way that can make the biggest impact on your songwriting.

Blogger is a great example of this. Let me explain…

If you haven’t guessed by now, I just love blogs.

Through writing in my own blogs I have found out more about myself than I could ever imagine however, through exploring other people’s blogs I have found some absolutely beautiful and insightful writing on all sorts of topics and issues.

I also love blogger.

Blogger has this really cool ‘next blog’ function that allows you to go from one blog to any other blog on its network. It feels like you’re an explorer but you don’t know where you’re going.

I do this from time to time if I am at a loose end. I start at a blog that I know such as Jo Brew’s “The Indie Musician” and then go to a random blog using this cool function.

It’s amazing where you end up.

You get to check out what other people are writing, thinking and feeling. There is bound to be something that inspires you to write a song.

Give this blogging exploration a go and see where you end up. As you are doing this say to yourself:

“The next blog that I come across I’ll read and make note of any ideas that come my way”.

By using blogger in this way you are always going to be reading new material and therefore immersing yourself in fresh new perspectives
