Familiarity Breeds Branding

What good does clicking away in traffic exchanges do for you? Obviously, you earn credits to get your site shown to other exchange members. Most traffic exchanges give you the option of trading those credits for banner and/or text link impressions. So a traffic exchange allows you to advertise your business, product, or service with full web pages, banners, and text link ads to like-minded people. And the result of that advertising is ... ?
The ultimate goal of every traffic exchange member is to earn some money. The traffic exchange is an advertising tool. It gets your business, product, or service seen by potential customers. Targeting aside, everybody is a potential customer. Making a sale takes more than a 10-second viewing of a splash page, though. Why is it that everyone says it takes seven or eight exposures to an advertisement before any action is taken? That initial repetition is the beginning of a relationship. That is what branding is all about: building the trust needed to convert a potential customer into a loyal client.
"Brand yourself an expert!" For what? Expertise is supposed to give you credibility. Credibility doesn't sell. All lawyers went to law school and passed the bar exam. Every one of them is an expert in law. Do you pick one at random out of the phone book when you need an attorney? Of course not. You go with the one that you have heard good things about. You go with the one who has been
branded as a successful attorney.
Many things go into making a brand. Repeated exposure is a small, but important, part of branding. Getting your site seen as often as possible by as many people as possible keeps you in the minds of potential customers. It lets current customers know that you are still in business. It builds a reputation for reliability and longevity. It breeds trust. Using traffic exchanges as a tool contributes to your reputation.
So get to clicking! You have a brand to build.

PICK OF THE WEEK:
Google Analytics
Ad tracking with a service like
HitsConnect is extremely important for analyzing your advertising efforts. But how can you analyze the web site itself? Enter
Google Analytics.
Google Analytics is a
free service for webmasters. It provides statistics on how visitors find and interact with a web site. It goes way beyond click-thru rates. Simply adding a small piece of code to the web pages on your personal domain will give you access to a wealth of information that you didn't even know you needed or wanted!
Where do your page clicks come from? Not only do you get the referral source, but the geographic location of your visitors as well. You will be amazed at just how international the Internet is. Do visitors click on links and explore the site? With
Google Analytics you find out the number of clicks on each link, and the number of visitors who leave a page without clicking any link. You even learn how long visitors stay on a page! Does your copy need tweaking? Should you change your price point? The numbers generated by
Google Analytics can help guide those decisions.
Give
Google Analytics a try. You will see your web site in a whole new light.
