Why do people without sales trainers often do better than salespeople with sales trainers?

Monday, January 29, 2007

Where have you been Philena? Well.. sorry for such a delay in my podcast. As many of my faithful listeners know, esp. in deskview, that things are developing and taking off, and when that happens, you can be like a chicken with your head cut off.

But I promise you, this for me, is good stress. The stress of getting projects done and patiently waiting for the outcome of bliss and happiness of your achievements.

I received my book from Penny Haynes, called No Excuses. If you're not subscribed to Penny's channel. I advised you to do so here, http://quikonnex.com/channel/pagemain/eMediaTouch-1stPod She makes great podcast and I learned a lot from her. She also does podcast expos to help you learn the basics for newbies, or advanced for the professionals.

So, have you ever heard of situations where people became more successful with their businesses without sales training then those that do?

Why do people without sales trainers often do better than salespeople with sales trainers?

There are commissions, prizes and bonuses and trips and contests and conventions. Yet the situation has not improved even one percentage point!

Now, when I first read this part, I thought to myself.. yeah.. this is true. I've seen the sales letters, I get the monthly promotions of a company, but do those promotions change the stats of the business overall? Not really.. it's just a steady growth as each day goes by for any company, but What about the ratios? Do they REALLY improve because you get an extra $500 bonus or a new laptop? This is where you have to really examine yourself instead of your company.

Consider the astonishing cost to shareholders of the failure of sales training. The waste of company resources, time, money and energy spent on recruiting, testing, selecting, training, and supervising salespeople each year, only to start over again the next year. Imagine if this happened in the other professions!!

Could you really imagine if the medical profession operated in this matter? Doctors quitting because they didn't make quota by convincing people to come to them for surgery? Not enough patients to produce enough income to live off of, so they quit and go work at McDonalds? Every time you walked into the emergency room, you had all this different types of doctors trying to convince you to let them operate on you from a car accident? "I have the best steady hands money can buy?" Or "Here's a brochure from all my satisfied patients I saved and are still alive" Oh… I know.. that's not the same thing.. That's so heartless, etc. How do you think people feel about your approaches? How do YOU feel with your approaches? What are you thinking about? You say it's heartless for doctors to only be thinking about that money instead of saving lives right? Again.. what are YOU thinking about? When your talking with someone about your business, what's on your mind? Is it that almighty dollar?

The breathtaking failure of sales training is one of the legendary business phenomena of our time. When compared to other managements, sales managements around the world have demonstrated a poor level of professional competence in this critical area. In fact, a management that regularly turns over 80% of its workforce can hardly be considered management at all! If an investigative journalist team examined the sales industry at the management level, they would uncover the greatest business scandal since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution.

And people wonder why about 97% of home businesses fail right?

Are you being trained old skool or new skool?

Do you even know the difference?
