My time in
Lima and at the CCS house has sadly come to end.
The last week at Deporte Y Vida and in
Lima has been saying goodbyes and preparing for my new adventures...
On Thursday I threw a party to thank the kids for how great they've been to work with and how patient they've been with trying to help me with my Spanish.
I bought soft drink, cookies, chips and lollies which was more than enough to turn a usually tame classroom into complete chaos. I have never seen so much energy being exerted in so little space. We played musical freeze, with the winner taking home a grand bag of goodies.
Later on that night we had festivities of a different kind.
Eric and I put on a Barbeque for all the volunteers and staff who were more kind and accommodating throughout the program than we could have possibly hoped for. On a full stomach the full group of us hit the city to make the most of our last chance to drink S./ 1 beers (equivalent to 40 cents AUD). There couldn't have been a better way to farewell the many volunteers with whom I'd formed friendships with over the last ten weeks.
Amongst travelers
Lima has a reputation as a dangerous and dirty city. Although
Lima is stereotyped as an unsafe place to be, I lived there for two and a half months and grew to love not only the people but the way of life. The divide between the upper and lower class is vast, however in years to come I believe that divide can be reduced and that
Lima will become a better place to live for all Peruvians.
I've put together ten photos which I feel best represent my ten weeks in
Lima and some of the experiences I had here. Hope you enjoy them.
