Augusta National and the rest of the golfing world will not know how to handle the tournament this year.
All of the world of golf kept wondering if he would play again since this year marks the 20th anniversary of him winning his sixth green jacket.
Last year he said a final good-bye to the British Open last year and said the only reason he would bring his clubs to the 2006 Masters is for the "Par 3 Tournament".
Who in the heck are we talking about?
He was quoted at the Champions Skins Game saying he hasn't made up his mind about what to do about the 2006 Masters. He did say he hoped if he did go to the 2006 Masters, he would be smart enough to not take his clubs!
While he has been playing in the Masters since 1959, this is the earliest he has declined the offer he received in early January.
However, since making his decision, the 2006 Masters and all of the golfing world will surely miss him him walking up to the 18th green with his big smile and his simple wave of the hat.
But...
He WILL be going to August National...but he is only going to attend the Champions Dinner on Tuesday and the Golf Writers Association of America dinner Wednesday. Competition will be without him in the 2006 Masters.
Who the heck are we talking about...
None other than the Golden Bear himself, Jack Nicklaus.
Jack, the golfing world is sure gonna miss you... one of its legends. It won't be the same at this year's 2006 Masters.
We do wish you the best of health and will be looking for you at Augusta National this year.
