Wireless Computing Exploit - Broadcom Driver

Are you connecting to the Internet via a wireless connection? If so you need to pay special attention to this alert. Apparently there is a hack out for computers using Broadcom Drivers: HP, Compaq, some Dells and others that will allow a hacker using this exploit to gain FULL control over your computer. If your wireless driver is not update to Version 4.100.15.5 or better, then you're vulnerable. Go to this ZDNet link now to check out your system: Critical Broadcom Windows driver exploit released!. Can your domain be moved to a new registrar without your consent? The answer is now yes. On 11-12-04 ICANN changed their domain name transfer policy where registrars must honor transfer requests even if you do not confirm the request for transfer.

Older Operating Systems will soon lack security

In a ZDNet Article it's being reported that Microsoft will stop providing security updates for Windows 98,NT,2000, etc.... all but Windows XP SP2. This will force people to either upgrade or buy a new computer. In either case, Microsoft stands to earn a few bucks off this decision

Microsoft creates JPEG Image Vulnerability

Graphics used to be safe, until Microsoft got their hands on them. JPEG images are processed by Windows using a program called GDI+ (Graphics Device Interface). Bottom line, Microsoft left a hole in it whereas a user's computer could be attacked. The hole would allow a JPEG image file to run a malicious program on a victim's computer as soon as the file is viewed.

MS Active X Dead on the Vine

A major component of Internet Explorer is being disabled. Following their recent decision to disable the ability to send logins and password via a URL, Microsoft has continued tightening security on their browser by taking out the ability to run Active X scripts. I'm sure this is going to have a few webmasters scrambling for alternatives.
