New Definition of Fast & Slow

Saturday, June 10, 2006
It used to be that you could describe something that was really fast as "faster than a speeding bullet" or "faster than the speed of light". Now fast should really be described as "faster than the price of gas can increase after hearing a little bit of bad news". Instead of slower than a snail, think about "slower than the price of gas goes down on hearing good news".

Just Say NO ... to IE 7

Wednesday, March 22, 2006
I've not been one to bash Microsoft, however, they're definitely going down the wrong road with their new Internet Explorer Beta 7 (IE7 Beta). With this product they're out to defeat the work of a lot of hard working folks who've spent the time to make RSS feeds readable. Feedburner.com does it and so does Quikonnex.com. What I'm talking about is the use of XSL stylesheets within the RSS feeds so that when you click on one of those orange RSS/XML icons you don't see geeky code. When someone clicks on one of those links on Quikonnex.com, a site that uses Feedburner, and if a user is using my RSSBoss product, they'll be presented with attractive, readable information and with quick subscription links for popular newsreaders. Microsoft doesn't recognize the existing stylesheet in abhorence to all conformance to standards and replaces it with their own style sheet.

Patents and Petty Content Providers

Thursday, February 23, 2006
This is going to be nothing but a screaming RANT! First of all, I got an email from MediaPost's "Around the Net in Online Marketing" regarding a newly issued patent regarding Rich Media Content. The whole U.S. patent system is insane, but that's on the tip of the iceberg with this rant. I wanted to provide you a link to the Information Week article on this, but they license their links. They want me to pay them $2.50 to give you a link to their website! No !@#$%!%!% WAY!

Fear Based Marketing - MP3 Licensing Scare

Monday, June 27, 2005
Joe E. Clayton Jr. of Free-Software-Forever.com and Joe Robson of Newbieclub.com have stepped over the line with their latest promotion. For the sake of selling their $147.00 "Wizard of Ogg" product, they've posted a website, http://www.mp3isnotfree.com (dead site now), which screams "the sky is falling!"

Political View - John Kerry - the Traitor?

Friday, October 15, 2004
At least the title of my channel says I can talk about whatever else pops into my head. So this is not about a virus or a scam, but it is a PEEVE. The race for President is very close, but it shouldn't be.

Are you an unwilling Spammer?

Tuesday, June 08, 2004
Has your computer been running slower lately? Does is seem like your harddisk is constantly humming? You may be an unwilling spammer. Seems like one of my domains, ebizworks.net, is the target of a spammer again. This happened about 6 months ago, but that time it was more of a hassle. The way I noticed was when I started receiving hundreds of bounced emails.

Another reason to Hate Email

Thursday, March 18, 2004
It's getting to be a real pain to use email anymore and it's not just the Spam and Viruses, it also screwy fonts. I've been getting periodic emails which I have to assume are Spam (but don't really know for sure) that lock up my email programs. The offending emails are coming from t-online.de and have strange subjects like "=?Windows-1251?B?0u7t608PP++ejllPju8PL7IM/0wsXQIMTGyMw=?=". Outlook Express hangs up when it trys to retrieve such a message and they're a pain to eliminate.

Microsoft IE 6.0 Security Patch Challenge

Tuesday, February 03, 2004
Microsoft just issued a cumulative security patch to IE 6.0 via the Windows Update system yesterday. You may start to see some problems popping up on the Net due to their disabling of a method commonly used to bypass the ugly login/password box that pops up when you access a secure folder on a website.
