I get so angry when I hear Republicans crying for a repeal in the health care law. I get angry because they lie about it to everyone. Well, this is what the Act has done for me...
Before the law, I could not get insurance for myself or my son because of pre-existing conditions. It didn't matter what the cost of insurance was; I could have had all the money in the world, but the fact that I have thyroid disease and my son has ADHD, put us out of the game.
Now, however, I can buy insurance. I cannot be denied for my thyroid condition. My son cannot be denied for his ADHD either. So, the affordable care act is a good thing.
You see, since a thyroid condition effects every cell in the body, I could not get insurance because of the risk of my condition prompting new issues with my health. This is particularly important since I am involved in a pending cancer diagnosis. Without health care coverage, I could die. That would leave my children without a mother. With health care coverage, I could live.
To all of those Republicans who want to trash this law, I have one thing to say... Stick it! You may have it good right now, but that doesn't mean the rest of us should suffer so that you can keep what you have. That is what it really boils down to... Paying to live. If the super rich want to stay that way, then they should help others find even a percentage of their financial success. They should pay their fair share in taxes.
I have paid taxes all of my adult life. I have worked hard in the employment sector and as a mother raising her kids, so I should deserve health care, at the very least.
I don't drive fancy cars, or have toys to play with at the beach. I have a home and a husband and kids. I don't need more than that, but there are those who'd take even those things from me.
It is a sad situation when you are worth more to your family dead than alive. However, the health care law may make it possible for me to reach my 50's. I am 45 years old and have been pretty healthy thus far in life, but the cancer cloud looms large over my head. Obamacare, as it is called, may be what saves my life. Don't mess with it!
I have never been one to vote along party lines. I typically vote for the best person for the job. I voted for President Obama, and I am proud to be able to say that.
I haven't always agreed with him, but I realize that he is doing the best job he can under the circumstances. He came into office during a bad time, following an administration that did its level best to bring this country to its knees. Then he has had to fight with obstructionism from Congressional Republicans. The man's job is not easy and for all of those who criticize, I'd like to see them do better.
Our president has been trying to make things right. He has had an uphill battle with Republicans whom he has tried to work with. It has become evident that the Republicans do not care about the American people; they care about their corporate donors more. Republicans are trying to make the wrong people happy, while the rest of us are barely scraping by. So, if criticism need be doled out, it is not the President who needs to be criticized.
I sincerely hope that the seniors of this country turn their backs on the GOP and vote to re-elect President Obama. The GOP has brought this country down to the level of a third world country and it is time they were stopped.
Something I don't understand is why America spends so much on foreign aid but so little is done to help Americans here at home. There is no excuse for the 20 million American children are homeless. I realize that African children are starving to death, but so are American children. Why don't we help our own with the same passion and drive we apply to helping others of other nations?
The wealthy one percent could do a lot to help the people of this country if they could bring themselves to let go some of their excess. Make Exxon pay taxes on its billions in profits. That would inject needed funds into the coffers. Cutting social programs is not needed. Making the top earners pay their fair share is needed. If the wealthy paid their fair share, we would not have a system that's broken. The country would have money to reduce the deficit. Nothing would have to be cut.
It is a matter of the Haves not wanting the Have-nots to succeed. It is selfishness that prevents change in this country.
It is amazing to me that these people are in positions of power. Is it really any wonder we are in the situation we are in here in the U.S? Who are the people that voted for these guys anyway?

A Second American Revolution?
Trina L.C. Sonnenberg
In the United States today, the low and middle income population out numbers the rich by a huge margin. Only 2% of the population holds 98% of the cash and that is no trifle number. In fact, that fact has become a favorite sales pitch and topic that self development gurus have been teaching their pupils for a long time. It is one of the truths that people studying the law of attraction are made aware of right away. It is a staggering fact and it got me to thinking. Yes, I've been know to do that from time to time.
