Do any of you feel uncomfortable trying out new technologies (like blogs, podcasts, audio, video, social networks, etc.)?
I ask, because some of my clients do, and they have referred to themselves as being "Technologically Challenged".
However, other people have mentioned to me that using the word "challenged" has a negative connotation that will repel people. The software I am designing is intended specifically for people who are uncomfortable with technology in different ways. Therefore, I need to find the right words to refer to people like this in order to promote the new product.
Below are some terms I have had suggested, but I could really benefit from a wider number of people giving me their opinion - ESPECIALLY people who are uncomfortable with technology. Would you connect with any of these terms in a positive way, negative way, or neither?
Technically Challenged
Technologically Challenged
Technophobic
Techno-shy
Techno-Novice
Non-Geek
Lastly, what other words would you use to describe your lack of comfort with some technologies?
I appreciate your help in this informal survey. Just reply to the email and send me your answer. Thanks in advance for helping me out!
