You can also watch a tropical fish tank for awhile to reduce stress. If you have that, a cat and a dog, then you're in anti-stress heaven I'd say! :)

PET PSYCHOLOGISTS
by Glenda S Schloff

Did you even know there is such a thing as a pet psychologist? Do you think your pet might need one? They are more commonly known as Pet Behaviour Specialists which are Doctors that have had years of training, just as our "human" psychologists have.

BILLIONS OF DOLLARS GOING TO THE DOGS!

Wow! Wouldn't you like to have a piece of this pie? I sure would. Can you believe that we spend more on pet care than on baby food?

At least three fourths of the people, in the United States, own at least one pet.

Prevention and Treatment For Your Pets

Do your pets have fleas? Itchy skin? Heartworms maybe? Allergies? Dander? Did you know that we have medications for all of these things, and more?

I prefer Frontline, for fleas on my dogs. Some people swear by Advantage. I've used both, and they work equally as well in my opinion. There are also generic versions I have found by searching on the internet.

Just a PS. Scruffy is doing much better. I really believe that my music therapy is helping him tremendously. He no longer bites when I give him a bath 'cause I don't give him baths. It was the one time that I had to bathe him and I don't think he likes enclosed places with those darn mirrored doors. He doesn't give the groomer nor the vet a whimper. I was told by many people with this breed that they can be very dominant or very passive. I get them both.

But I won't put him on any medication as I don't believe he needs it. MUSIC THERAPY works. It's amazing. Sounds crazy? Try it. Just find a cute little tune (short one)and put in his name, and after awhile, he will respond. I was just curious if anyone else had a dog that could be dominant and passive and how they handled it.
He's a lovable dog and I thank God that I have him in my life.

Hi. My Llasa Apso, Scruffy was diagosed as passive-aggressive by an animal therapist several years ago. I have had Scruffy since he is 8 weeks old; he is 8 yrs old now. He was always a frisky puppy. Right after he was neutered he changed. I went to pick him up to hold him, he went for me. He can be aggresive towards me; yet he can also be so lovable.

One time, while giving him a bath, he was growling so bad that he jumped up, sunk his teeth into my arm and pulled on my causing me to seek medical treatment. It was like being attacked by an angry animal. If he doesn't want to go out or be bothered, he growls and I become afraid, while other times he will cuddle up with me and kiss me and let me massage him.

I use music therapy, making up songs that he responds to with good results, but I can't always trust him. He is very good with other people; sometimes I think that he has a love/hate relationship with me. The groomer and the vet have absolutely no problem with him. Is it me??? I feel at a loss and feel sad when he is aggressivie with me. What should I do? Could you recommend something for me? I would appreciate any comments from you.

I love Scruffy so much but feel terrible when he acts so nasty towards me. Thank you. Donna

Pet Supplies For Your Furry "Kids"

Pets Are 'Children' Too!

Do you treat your pets like they're your children? I know I do, they're precious to me. Some may think we're ridiculous, that a dog is a dog is a dog and should be treated as such.

Well, I say phooey! I think most people, especially when the "human kids" have left the nest start treating their animals like they are their children. I also like some animals more than I like some humans! They give me unconditional love and they don't talk back to me! Well, ummm, mine do. :) But...you already knew that, didn't you?
