UNAGING MIND, BODY AND SPIRIT
Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii!!! I just turned 50 years old this year and many people believe that I am in my early 30s. You ask, "What is my secret to being youthful and staying healthy?" It is actually no secret. I am going to share with you what I have been doing to stay healthy. Please keep in mind that everyone is different and that you are only going to learn and use what you believe is best and right for you so that you come up with your own routine to stay healthy. Continue to do your research.
Be happy with who you are. I have not weighed myself for many years, I do not count calories or carbohydrates, or take any medication. I only take natural vitamins. An Oriental doctor, Dr. Dong, I used to see taught me some lessons about how to stay healthy. You might have read is book entitled “The Arthritic’s Cookbook”. He prescribed the diet in his book to all his patients no matter what was ailing them.
He told me a story which intrigued me. He started his story by saying that when he was in his 30s he had serious arthritis and could not find a doctor who could help him. I believe he was in his 70s when he told me this story. He explains why he became a physician to help people. He had just moved into a new space in the building he owned, located in San Francisco's Chinatown, and was very excited to show me around. He had pictures of famous people all autograph to him, a picture of him with Pope Paul II, and a recent picture of his wife so beautiful. He asked that I guess his wife’s age. Hmmm…I guessed 40s. Nope, wrong. She was in her 60s. Okay, so I want to know how she has stayed so young looking and if she discovered the fountain of youth.
Stay on a good healthy diet you can live with. So Dr. Dong continues his story by saying that everyone is going to feed me a bunch of garbage and mind blowing information about food and diet to stay youthful and healthy. Now keep in mind that the timeframe he was telling me this story is over 25 years ago. He said that the Orientals had the healthiest diet in the world and they lived longer than any other nationality. Their diet consisted of rice, poultry, fish and vegetables. If you look at his list, it does not include dairy, fruits or red meat. He said that as soon as the Chinese starting importing cows to China for dairy and meat, physically the Chinese became larger, generation after generation and their health went downhill. The only vitamin he recommended anyone take was Vitamin B-12. He said it kills him to see many people drinking orange juice daily for their daily required Vitamin C. He couldn’t believe all the advertisements for orange juice. Keep in mind that one of the best cleaning products is made of oranges. Dr. Dong said that there is more water and acid in orange juice than the Vitamin C needed for a healthy diet. Plus a person only needs milk for the Vitamin D when they are young and still growing. When a person gets older, they can receive the required Vitamin D from the sun for the average of 10 minutes a day. He said that if you stayed on his diet, you will have all the vitamins and nutrition needed especially the Vitamin C you get from vegetables alone. Dr. Dong mentioned that we don’t know what other chemicals are included in industrial vitamins. If you are to take any vitamins, natural vitamins or supplements would be the best.
Find a physician you can trust. Not to put anyone down because of their training, but doctors, now a days, do not know what you are putting into your body and it gets more and more difficult for them to diagnose an ailment. But remember now, every ailment has a name and a pill to cure it…ha ha ha. Dr. Dong ended his story by saying, “just remember the basics.” No longer do I have asthma, bad rash or swelling in the calves. The rash and swelling is what I initially went to see him for. For the asthma, we get the VOG in Kona which is the remnants of the active volcano. The VOG does not bother me but does bother others who have asthma. Dr. Dong believed that you are either on a good or bad diet. The last visit I had with him was when he was 94 and he had just retired. He passed away at the age of 95. Ever since I can remember, my husband and I have been on Dr. Dong’s soup diet which includes mainly rice, peas, and tuna. My husband modified the recipe a little and that is what we have most daily. Amazingly, my husband insists on it. It has kept us both healthy.
Be happy and be true to yourself everyday. When you are happy and healthy, everyone around you can not help but be happy. My daily routine has been Qigong, energy healing self care, the diet mentioned above, and being in the moment as much as I can. Put them all together and it heals the mind, body, and spirit.
Anyway, check out all the wonderful natural vitamins that we have to offer.

|Natural Vitamins| for 50 years and going Strong!
Published by Tana Hamiter - Goes Green Mentor
I will apply dietetic measures for the benefit of the sick according to my ability and judgment; I will keep them from harm and injustice; “Above all; I will do no harm.” Oath of Hippocrates.
It doesn’t matter if you are 5 or 50 yrs old. Good Health is Pure Gold. And Natural Vitamins and Supplements are a necessary part of that.
Good health isn't just about feeling good and adding on years to your life. If you consistently evaluate your health and keep up a beneficial lifestyle, you'll save money at the doctor's office, on prescription and over-the-counter drugs, and expensive tests and procedures.
Habits that hurt us include:
Smoking, now that should be no surprise, we all know that smoking kills. Stop and you’ll reduce your chances of cancer while improving your sensitivity to allergies and respiratory system.
Drinking alcohol in excess takes a very serious toll on your health, your whole body and now they even know your brain is being seriously affected by chronic dehydration and a weak immune system.
Unhealthy Snacking, junk food got its name for a reason. It is JUNK, snacking on greasy fast foods and sweets increases dramatically your chances for diabetes. Snacking also causes dental problems which affect overall health.
Don’t Sleep Around. Excuse me for a delicate problem, BUT Promiscuity isn’t just a moral issue: it is one of the fastest ways to get diseases. Practice safe sex and make sure you know your partners sexual history beforehand. You can think that only happens with stupid teens and young adults, Wrong!
So Lets Look at some Good Habits
Take |Natural Vitamins| and Supplements. They are Multi Vitamins for over 50. If you don’t get enough Iron Plus you get anemia, and if you don’t get enough calcium in your food plan, you need to take Natural Vitamin Supplement Calcium. Taking |Natural Vitamins| can be considered costly but not nearly as costly as poor health.

Healthy Eating Basics for Over 50 - According to WebMD
Take a daily multivitamin for your age group. These will compensate for gaps in your nutrition picture. Women over 50 need less iron than younger women.
Boost calcium and vitamin D. That means three to four 8-ounce servings of low-fat dairy every day. If you are lactose intolerant, try hard cheese, yogurt, fortified products like orange juice, canned salmon, broccoli, and legumes. Take 1,000 to 1,500 milligrams of calcium daily if you are not getting adequate calcium in your diet.
Eat more fruits, veggies, whole grains, and legumes. These will give you plenty of disease-fighting antioxidants, more fiber, and less sodium.
Get enough fiber. Whole-wheat pasta, cereals, and breads, oatmeal, brown rice, popcorn, and fresh fruits and vegetables all are high in fiber.
Eat the right proteins. Get a balance of lean protein (like skinless chicken), fatty fish like salmon (with omega-3 fats), and vegetable protein.
Enjoy a vegetarian meal a few times a week. A plant-based diet is low-calorie and dense in vitamins, minerals, and disease-fighting antioxidants.
Cut salt intake. Too much salt is linked to high blood pressure.
Nutritional supplementation is essential to round out what is needed for our changing bodies. Look to Vitamin series Gold with or without Vitamin K formula. And information on the supplentations needed in today’s world. Read the endorsements for yourself. Antioxidants are for the prevention of freeradical damage. Something we all need at every age.
