This has been on my mind for quite sometime and yes, this is a rant!

Only because I am so passionate about keeping our God given bodies safe and healthy! Can I repeat that ...safe AND healthy! When I first saw this report last last year (2008) I think I was in shock. This is pretty typical of how I react to information overload. It takes me a few to really process. Then I began to do the research and let me tell you ...it was ugly!

Environmentalists warn the average woman's makeup bag is a time bomb waiting to explode with serious health consequences. The cosmetic industry and the FDA say there's nothing to fear.

It's hard to ignore the headlines: The safety of cosmetics and personal care items is clearly being challenged on many levels.

To hear any well-versed environmentalist tell it, women are being set up for the health hit of a lifetime. The weapon of mass destruction: Our cute little cosmetic bags, filled to the brim with what some believe is a toxic chemical brew that could cause serious health harm.

"Cosmetics and personal care products are potentially major sources of chemical exposure—particularly if you look at the number of items women use and the sheer number of chemicals in them. Twenty products with over 200 chemicals is typical before a woman even walks out the door in the morning," says Stacy Malkan, co-founder of the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics and author of Not Just a Pretty Face.

These chemicals, she says, are linked to a slew of health threats that range from cancer to infertility to birth defects, documented by organizations such as the World Health Organization and the CDC.

The beauty industry disagrees, saying that most of the alarming accusations—including lead in lipstick—are a replay of old issues that were addressed and dismissed by them, and the FDA, decades ago.

Women and mothers, we need to heed this information as life saving for ourselves and our little girls. Those little shops in the malls that sell the sweet little bottles of toxic lotions/soaps and such are dangerous and just downright harmful.

Let us begin to understand that we should not smell like cucumbers or cherries!! Clean is IN. Green is IN and going green extends further than your cleaning products. Educate yourself and your family about the dangers of these chemical sprays and lotions that we are putting onto our skin..the largest organ our body has.

Here is an awesome testimony about our Natural Cosmetics that I think you will enjoy...

I just wanted to share an important testimonial with you! Recently, our son, Steve was home from college and he shared some startling news with me.  Steve is a second year pre-med student.

 Well, in his Quantitative Analysis class (a high level Chemistry course) they recently conducted a study on various eyeliners. It seems the class conducted various tests on dozens of different brands of eyeliners to determine if any mutations occurred when they came into contact with human DNA. Steve shared with me that he had snuck one of my Shakle* eye pencils into the mix to see how it would fair. He confessed that he took it without my knowledge for fear that if it didn't do well, he could spare his dear old mom from dieing a hundred deaths over her beloved Shakle* failing the test. Well, he shouldn't have had any fear or worry because the results absolutely shocked his professor! It ended up that every single eyeliner (except ONE!!) resulted in skin cell mutations.

When I asked Steve to clarify what mutations truly implied, he looked at me squarely in the eye and said, pre-cancer cells, Mom. Timidly Steve identified himself as the culprit and the professor said, this is the only sample that not only didn't damage the cells but actually fed the cells and kept the DNA intact. It turns out that the professor was really bowled over because he has conducted this test in class for the past several years and anticipated what the results would be, so needless to say, he was amazed to discover that a product of this quality and caliber actually exists!
