Random thought on a Fandom

Sunday, October 30, 2005
For a few years now I have wondered why people think they need every little thing about being a fan of something explained. I mean why can't someone enjoy stuff like Big Trouble In Little China without having people call the movie a waste of film? What If we happen to like wastes of film (Manos, the Hands of Fate being an exception).

Well a simiar question about a fandom I like has been answered again, though this time with some thought. 2 the Ranting Gryphon today posted what he thought a furry was. It is quite a read actually. He pulls more on the symbolism side of things pointing out in fact that people have long associated human behaviours with animalistic behavioirs.

While it is a very good document I have to wonder why people feel that everything has to have a reason. Can't we just say we like things because we like them? Why do we have to justify our actions to people who 9 times out of 10 don't give a shit anyway?

I wrote a comment in 2's LJ entry about this wondering if I will ever figure out what to me a Furry is and am sad about it because whay do I need to anser it? Why can't I just enjoy things simply for being what they are?

Just a random thought from someone who is tired of over justification.
