Le Cafe de Cadix,
by Pierrette Lili Camps Komarek.

Le Cafe de Cadix is the author narrated, humorous and touching memoirs of a "pied noir", a French Algerian, named Pierrette Lili Camps Komarek.
It is, in many ways, a tribute to her mother and father, Rose and Salvador, two orphans who, against all odds, raised 2 girls, 2 twin boys (one of which was mentally handicapped and blind), and daily lived the biblical truth "love your neighbor as yourself", even while trying to survive the Depression and the War.
It contains the tale of the romance of her parents, as well as the love story between herself and her blue-eyed GI. It includes many colorful and touching characters from her past, from the poor Jew Shlomo who was her father's closest friend, to Moustache - who bore a handle-bar of grand proportion, to Madame Elkaim, the Jewish next door neighbor who did for her what her own mother was too busy to do, and the American soldiers whose generosity and kindness changed her life.
It will make you laugh and cry, and you will listen to it again and again, because as Le Cafe de Cadix magically transports you to Algiers, Oran and Bougie, it lifts your spirit and proves that it is possible to live a meaningful life that will positively affect the generations to come.

Hear what people are saying about Le Cafe de Cadix...
After reading Pierrette's fascinating, revealing, amusing, delightful book, I didn't think I could be more pleased, but this is a unique piece of artistry. Voices are so important, if only because there are so few pleasant ones. Pierrette might have been an actress! To hear so many trenchant and funny and wise remarks in her dulcet tones is a special treat. I hope she will have as many listeners as readers. She deserves every one.

One of the things I am most thankful for in writing my own book is my contact with Pierrette Komarek. In this world of humdrum thoughts and communication, she is a refreshing voice to be heard. It is obvious why her family is so very proud of their "Grandmere" with the beautiful story she has written in book and now shares in her own charismatic style (with just a touch of charming accent).

I have not had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Komarek in person, however, I have spent the past several months chatting with Pierrette on an authors message board and via email. What an amazing woman! My admiration for her has since grown stronger since listening to her life's story on these audio tapes.
Pierrette's story is heartwarming, funny, and oh so real! She has a way with words that will make you feel like you were a part of her life's experiences.
Thanks to the publisher(s) for finely bringing Ms. Komarek's work out for public viewing!
