Postcard from Family Member

Thursday, September 28, 2006

This one would only come from a family member that really despises you:

"You have just received a virtual postcard from a family member!
You can pick up your postcard at the following web address:

http://www2.postcards.org/?a91-valets-cloud-31337"

This one would probably ruin your day. [Read More!]

$100,000.00 in 4 Months? Not Likely!

Wednesday, September 13, 2006
Some say MoreThanTraffic.com is a scam, others say it's legitimate. This site guarantees that they'll send you enough targeted traffic so that you'll make $100,000.00 in 4 months. If you do, you pay them 15% or $15,000.00. If not, you pay nothing. It sounds like a WIN-WIN proposition.

Year End Pay Pal Scam - Update

Monday, July 10, 2006
This is an update to my Dec 23, 2005 post. No, you do not need to update or verify your PayPal account information at the end of every year. I got this phishing attempt talking about getting ready for 2006.

There are also more victims of this type of scam than just the email recipients.

Don't Trust Phone Numbers Either

Friday, April 28, 2006
It looks like the typical phishing email, but this one is different. It's not asking you to click on a link, but asks you to call a phone number ASAP because your bank or credit card has been compromised. You make the call and you're relieved that the bank answers. WRONG! You've just gotten stung!

12 Daily Pro - StormPay Scam

Monday, February 13, 2006
MLM Watchdog is reporting that 12DP has been shutdown. Actually, they've been shutdown by their money laundering firm, StormPay. It appears that StormPay has taken it on their own initiative to place "the money in a holding account, pending an investigation into 12daily Pro by the FBI. By policy, the FBI would neither confirm nor deny any ongoing investigation."1

StormPay Problems

Saturday, February 04, 2006
I'm getting a lot of comments regarding problems with StormPay on an old post I made back in March 2005, Storm Pay Scam. There I was concerned about their involvement with NoBSZone and illicit charges on credit cards for Porn sites. Now it seems they're not only having problems with their website staying responsive, but they're digging a hole that will lead to their demise.

Receipt for your Payment - PayPal Scam

Thursday, December 15, 2005
The phishing scammers are getting a little sneakier. This particular PayPal scam comes in looking like a receipt for money that you've supposedly sent to someone. In my example, the receipt was for an engine for an Accura Legend for $600.01. The only legend here is that of the exploits of these idiots out trying to scam anyone with an email address. The problem with this particular scam is that it can catch you off guard because it's so absurd that a victim might find themselves clicking on the "If you haven't authorized this charge" link. By that time it may be too late, you've been caught.

Telemarketing Credit Card Scam

Monday, November 28, 2005
Bob Holmstrom reported this credit card scam through one of our publishers. I did notice in this report, that there's no mention of the person contacted giving out their credit card number over the phone. I suspect the scammer already had it, especially considering the breakdown in security that has occurred in recent months (at CardService International as an example).

One of our employees was called on Wednesday from "VISA", and I was called on Thursday from "MasterCard".

The scam works like this: Person calling says, "This is (name), and I'm calling from the Security and Fraud Department at VISA. My Badge number is 12460 Your card has been flagged for an unusual purchase pattern, and I'm calling to verify. This would be on your VISA card which was issued by name of bank). Did you purchase an Anti-Telemarketing Device for $497.99 from a Marketing company based in Arizona?" When you say "No", the caller continues with, "Then we will be issuing a credit to your account."

Ebay Scam - Is it really a question about your product?

Friday, November 04, 2005
This scam may catch the frequent seller on Ebay. The question is not out of the ordinary and it comes via email like this: "Hello , I have bid on your item , can you please contact me and tell me how much is shipping to zip code 92110 ? Thank you very much for your response." If you're not on top of your Item numbers, you might get stung.

StormPay Scam

Wednesday, March 02, 2005
I reported a problem a couple of weeks ago regarding the NoBSZone business opportunity. Apparently, the popular online payment service called StormPay may cause as much grief to its customers as NoBSZone did to me.
NOTE: Quikonnex.com does not use nor is affiliated with any of these payment processors. I am merely reporting the scams to enable others to avoid being scammed

NoBSZone Followup

Thursday, February 17, 2005
The NoBSZone article I posted on the Feb 3 has been very successfull. It's received more comments and unique hits in a shorter period of time than any other article I've written. However, it's not gotten me a refund and NoBSZone has failed to adequately address this situation.

The NoBSZone.com is BS

Thursday, February 03, 2005
Mike Glaspie, of BannersGoMLM fame, has launched a real dud with his new NoBSZone.com site. I play with programs like this occassionally just to see what's going on around the Net. What got my interest on this one was a product called IconAlert, which is another product that is supposed to deliver news to your desktop. I installed this program on Dec 31 and have yet to receive any news through it. But this is not what concerns me about this program. It's Mike G's choice of a credit card processing merchant. Are you ready to have your credit card stolen?
