A Greater Crisis Then Pet Food Recall

Yesterday at Animal Talk Naturally, we had a very special guest on the show. John Clifton, author of "Stop The Shots". There was an immediate kinship there with John and his passion and love for our pets was apparent.

He feels as I do, that while there dogs and cats dying from eating toxic pet foods recently, there is an even bigger crisis going on right now as well that is NOT getting the media attention it deserves. Are Vaccinations Killing our Pets???

(I will post the link to the show here as soon as it is available)

The current pet food crisis and the media attention it has created has made Americans aware of one of the dangers our beloved pets face today. But there is an even greater crisis, a greater threat, well known to serious pet professionals, that has yet to garner major media attention. While many dogs and cats have become ill and a few have even died due to the contaminated food, thousands upon thousands of others have died so far this year alone from being over-vaccinated.

NO on Pet Vax Bills S02164

Hi Friends! Our good friend Kris Christine sent me some things to share with you...

Dr Dodds and Dr Schultz have have contacted New York's legislators urging them to VOTE NO on Senate Bill S02164 and Assembly Bill A04253 (see e-mails below sent with permission)

Passage of unscientifically supported legislation like this will have a profound impact on the health of companion animals and their owner's finances. Please do not allow these bills to pass through inaction. Your pets need you to fight this for them, and these legislators need more than a whimper from pet owners, they need a resounding roar to vote AGAINST these bills (http://public.leginfo.state.ny.us/menugetf.cgi insert S02164 in the box at the top after "Bill No.", click "2006" and check the "text" box to read the text of the bill).

Questions on Vaccinating

Questions On Vaccinating

The following email was sent to a forum and believe you will find it quite interesting. Please be informed and educated, make sure you don't needlessly overvaccinate your companion animals!

Original email posted to sfraw:

What is your rationale for refusing to vaccinate your dog, esp. for rabies? And if you don't vaccinate for rabies, what measures can you or do you take to prevent it? Sorry if this is old hat for the rest of you, but I find this shocking. I'll wait for your response before I go into full judgmental mode, but...

A Response: ...

Another excellent reason why you do not want to vaccinate your pets is that you are putting a toxic heavy metal into their systems that does not need to be there.

The Kerry Blue Terrier Foundation (http://www.kerryblues.info) has generously donated $5,000 to The Rabies Challenge Fund, which was established to raise money to finance concurrent 5 and 7 year rabies vaccine challenge studies in the United States.

The Rabies Challenge fund is spearheaded by world-renowned vaccine research scientist and practicing veterinary clinician, Dr. W. Jean Dodds of California, and pet vaccine disclosure advocate, Kris L. Christine of Maine. The Kerry Blue donation was announced by the Foundation’s President, John Van den Bergh. As an educational organization, we are happy to be able to fund a study that will finally shed some light on vaccination research,” says Van den Bergh.

Update on The Rabies Challenge Fund Please check-out the link down below for a LOT more info!
---------------------------------------------
Greetings!

The Rabies Challenge Fund has received IRS tax-exempt status (EIN #84-6390682 as the official 501(c )(3)  exempt registration). It has
Public Charity Status 170(b) (1) (A) (vi). Effective Date of Exemption is December 12, 2005 and our Advance Ruling Ending Date is December 31, 2009.  One of the world's leading authorities on veterinary vaccines, Dr. Ronald Schultz of the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary
Medicine, will be conducting the rabies challenge studies.  Dr.
Schultz has been performing challenge studies on canine vaccines since the mid-1970's, and his data formed the scientific base for the American Animal Hospital Association's 2003 Canine Vaccine Guidelines.   He is set to begin the rabies challenge studies as soon as the fund can raise the first year's budget of $177,000.  The University of Wisconsin is waiving its overhead charges for these studies.  The only expenses coming out of the pre-grant funds are those for filing annual returns with IRS -- there are no salaried officers, building costs, etc... Except for IRS fees, all the money donated to The Rabies Challenge Fund will go directly to funding these studies.

Regards, Kris Christine
Co-Trustee The Rabies Challenge Fund

Vaccine Reactions

Greetings Friends, Recently, on my Natural Rearing list at Yahoo, we had a member with a puppy that had a vaccine reaction and some questions. One of our members that is also a licenced Vet Tech responded to her post. Here is the post and the response:

Question:I wrote a while ago that Sophie developed allergies after her vaccinations. She has red tiny bumps and overall redness behind and in her ears and on her elbows. I have a friend with a Golden Retriever who is 2 weeks older than Sophie and who is eating the exact same food, vaccinated more than Sophie and is doing very well. I understand not every single dog will react the same way but i am wondering if really everything can be attributed to vaccination and feeding this or that. How much could be genetics?

Vaccination Reactions

Wanted to share with you a little bit from a natural pet care forum I belong to. One of the members had her dogs vaccinated and the dogs became quite ill afterwards. The member has since contacted the vaccine manufacture but has not had any thing to say yet. Here is the post and a very good one that was posted in response:

"I've been in contact with the vaccine manuf. who has also been in contact
with my vet. They want to examine my vets records on Indy and I gave him
permission to do so. We're waiting for the manuf. 's vet to return (he said
he'd be away a week) and then it will be interesting to see what they have
to say.
Do I feel the vaccine is responsible? Yep"

The only vaccine required by law here in MA is rabies. The rest is upto your having the latest knowledge. My dog has only had the rabies (at 1 and 1/2 years). I have six strays: on developed symetrical lupoid onychodystrophy (autoimmune disease; her claws fall off) after receiving her "shots" which, at the time, I thought a "good dog owner" did. I now realize that with a stray, how on earth do you know when they were vaccinated last? How many poor animals in shelters are double vaccinated? More on Challenging the Rabies Vaccine

Hi Friends! Think globally, act locally? Kris Christine thinks that's a little limiting. Denise Flaim Animal House at Newsday recently wrote a great article on challenging the rabies vaccine given our pets every year or three years depending on the state we live in.

NEWSDAY
September 19, 2005

You may remember this dogged doggie activist from Alna, Maine: In between homeschooling two kids and caring for an Alzheimer's-afflicted dad, last year Christine initiated a successful grass-roots campaign to change her state's rabies-vaccine requirement from two years to three. Then, when she thought vets weren't proactive in educating clients about the risks of overvaccination, she lobbied for legislation - opposed by the state veterinary association, and currently tabled - requiring informed consent before vets uncapped their needles.

Dear dog owners, I have developed a new rabies vaccine. This rabies vaccine does not contain rabies virus, but only contain part of the virus. So it is safe to use. Also, this vaccine utilize canine adenovirus type-2 as vector, this vaccine can be taken orally, so there is no harm to your dogs. Also, the vaccine induce a long and effective immunity to your dogs. If any of you is interested in this vaccine, we can turned it into product and make it useful for all the world.

More Vaccine Information

Just HAD to share this wity everyone! Did you know that " Research recently conducted by the Canine Health Census (CHC) shows that at least 50% of the dogs with viral diseases (parvovirus, distemper, etc), contracted the diseases within three months of being vaccinated. This supports the view that vaccines often fail to protect, and that in some cases they can actually cause the disease they are designed to prevent.” (O’Driscoll, 2)

Dr Ronald D. Schultz, one of the foremost veterinary immunologists in the world, is on record saying that annual vaccinations for viral disease is not only unnecessary, but that it causes significant problems. A growing number of vets contend that vaccines are now causing more disease than they are preventing.” (O’Driscoll, 1)

In September 2003, Kris Christine took her yellow Lab, Meadow, for his biannual rabies booster.

A few months later, the 6-year-old developed a mast cell tumor on the injection site. And his owner, a 49-year-old mother of two from Alna, Maine, began a crusade that changed that state's law - and isn't over yet.
