Why is Fido dead? Prescription drugs are killing dogs!

Why is Fido dead? Prescription drugs are killing dogs, too

Drugs have a long term detrimental affect to your dog's health and longevity. Drugs collect in the liver and kidneys and shorten a dog's lifespan. Drugs are merely a band aid to supress the symptoms while the patient is bleeding to death! They just don't work because they don't get to the cause of the problem.

(NewsTarget) The FDA has released information concerning
non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for pets -- including
Metacam, Deramaxx, Previcox and Rimadyl -- that shows they have been connected to 22,000 cases of illness in dogs, almost 3,000 of which were fatal.

Anesthesia Toxicity In Pets, Just Thought You Should Know

Tuesday, May 16, 2006
Anesthesia Toxicity, Just Thought You Should Know
Something that most dog owners/guardians don't know or even think about is that a pet that is undergoing surgery or teeth cleaning is being administered serious toxins. In addition, the body is being subjected to severe trauma that we don't think about either.

Now don't misunderstand me here, when an animal needs to "be put under" for repairing a traumatic injury, modern veterinary medicine is usually at its very best with the latest technology. Thank God for conventional vet medicine with its tremendous diagnostic and trauma procedure skills! What I would like you to think about is the risk involved in elective surgery as in teeth cleaning.

Safe Spring Cleaning

I thought I should get this out to you as spring is here!

Thoroughly cleaning the house, yard, kennels, aviary, etc. after a long winter
seems to be on everyone's agenda and I have some tips on how to do it with out harmful, toxic chemicals!

It used to be that you only had chemical cleaning agents to choose from in order to get rid of bacteria, virus, algae and fungus. Everyone had to remove their pets completely
OUT of their room or house into a safe well-ventilated area to keep them from breathing in the toxic/lethal chemicals.

Great news at last---you don't have to kick your dog, bird or cat out of the house/room.

Spring Has Sprung and so have the Fleas!

Friday, April 14, 2006

It's spring time again! Time for green grass, colorful flowers and trees to turn from brown to a gorgeous green. It's also time for the bugs to begin their annual renewal as well.

Up until relatively recently, we have all been taught that the only way to prevent heartworm, fleas, worms, roundworms, ticks, mites, and other pesky parasites (that literally steal your pet's nutrition right from its blood) is by using lethal toxic chemicals.

We have been taught that a drop of something lethal
will keep fleas from bothering your dog (or cat) for a good
30 days. We are bombarded with ads touting how well
a shot of this chemical or that chemical will spare your
pet from ticks, worms, etc. for a good long period of
time.

Ever wonder how truly safe such a lethal dose that will last for 30 or more days is? Guess what, these shots and drops are NOT SAFE. What they do is to poison your precious pet almost to the point of death in order to kill a measly little parasite that actually could be eliminated safely if only you knew how.

Just Say NO!

Just Say NO!

With all the information out there on known side effects on drugs and chemical use in and around us and our pets, many people are becoming more informed and aware of "holistic health" for both themselves and thier pets. Many of you are up in arms, I get emails asking what you can do to help get some of these drugs and products off the shelves. The very best and most effective way of doing this is just not buying them! Telling your vet that "Spot" will not be getting anymore Parvo shots, telling others what you have learned and where to go for more information for further research.

Here is a tidbit of wisdom from our good friend, holistic veterinarian, Dr Blake!

These are difficult times for all pet owners who are aware of the problems with Flat Earth Medicine that is practiced in animals and people here in the United States. After 25 years of watching the extremely slow progress medicine has made in this country, I am finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel.
In my book I wrote, "I hope that before I die, Alternative Medicine will no longer be 11th hour medicine." Now I believe I will live long enough to see this happen. You the public are becoming more informed with the passing of each bit of data over the Internet. Knowledge is Freedom and that is what is happening. There is an old
saying that goes like this:

How can Bovine Colostrum be helpful to the liver by Dr Stephen Blake

How can Bovine Colostrum be helpful to the liver?
by Stephen Blake DVM

Dr Blake, author of the book entitled The Pet Whisperer â„¢, and practicing Veterinarian was recently asked how bovine colostrum could help the dogs that are suffering with liver disease from eating the recently found toxic, Diamond Dog Food (or any liver problems)

Insulin like growth factors (IGF's) comprise the majority of the growth factors found in Colostrum. IGF's act as endocrine, autocrine and paracrine hormones enhancing cellular glucose uptake, and enhance synthesis of proteins, DNA, RNA and lipids. Without adequate EGF's, the body cannot repair damaged cells, no matter how good the patient is being fed.

Hello all,

Just found your most interesting web site and an article by one of my favorite vets-Dr Blake. However I note your colostrum link goes to New Life colostrum. Dr Blake no longer endorses that company as they switched to a cheap American colostrum. He now uses Sedona Labs New Zealand colostrum only. Just wanted to bring that to your attention. You will see that on his web site.

Syd,

Thank you for your post on Whole Dog News!

Oh my how devastating to be losing your puppies this way! I personally would have the sire and dam's liver enzymes checked and get those puppies in and checked as soon as possible.

What kind of food are the adults on now? Did you do anything to detox the liver or boost their health when you took them off the diamond dog food?

There are several things you can do for the adults to help heal their liver and get their immune system functioning well again but not so sure you can help the puppies at this point. Puppies really do not have much of an immune system themselves and it does mature until they are 6 months to a year old.

Please let us know what you find out about the Sire and Dam of these pups and how the puppies are doing now. If they have survived you can help them via the health and nurishment of the Dam.

Reducing Toxicity in Your Dog's Life

Reducing Toxicity in Your Dog's Life
What steps have you taken this past week to improve the health of your dog? Are you taking more regular walks ? Spending more quality time fussing over him/her? Brushing them? Playing fetch? and talking to him/her? (Yes, this does improve your dog's psychological health or general wellbeing - haven't you noticed how much your dog LOVES it when you direct all your attention to him/her?) Or maybe you've started on one or two of the recommendations I make from time to time for natural health such as changing your dog's diet to a much more healthy one?

No matter what steps you take, so long as you do a little something every day and every week, your dog's health will improve, and you'll prolong your dog's life by a little, or even by a lot.

Mold Kills Dogs

Mold Kills Dogs

Public anxiety over health problems and property destruction caused by mold is at an all time high. Increased media coverage, coupled with large court damages and new government regulations, have made mold the highest profile Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) issue–and mold remediation the fastest growing IAQ service!

NBC affiliate WBAL in Baltimore, published a news report stating that mold growing within the structure of a woman's condominium not only killed her husband and her father, but her dog too.

The Toxic Danger of Fabric Softener and Dryer Sheets

by SixWise.com

Hi Yaaa'll, Chase reporting again. Mom said I could intro this article. As a show dog, I know of people who will rub a dryer sheet on thier dogs before they go into the ring to pick up any lint or dust and help the coat shine better. This should be a big NO, NO! Just read below how bad these things are. Okay gotta go find that nyla bone again. Have a pawsitively wonderful day!

Many people will remember a famous TV ad where a woman races to her washing machine, fabric softener in hand, only to arrive just as the wash ends. This woman who "forgot to ad the fabric softener" was actually doing herself and her family a favor.

Hi Dave,

No, there is no warning on the box just as there is no warning on scented candles, air fresheners, laundry soap, etc. We just have to use common sense that these chemicals are foreign to our and our pets bodies so that means our liver and other eliminative organs have to work overtime to rid these toxins from our body when we are exposed to them. They are Toxins! Did you report your story so that now there are TWO?

So many people have dogs die from unknown causes they do not know which product might have caused the death so nothing gets reported.

As our dogs guardians and care givers they look to us to use common sense and take care of them the very best we can. Just as a human child would.

It is only by sharing our stories and reporting any negative incidents with any products that anyone hears of any problems.

Thank you so much for sharing!!

I had a poodle puppy that was about 8 months old that died after chewing on fabric softner sheets. The pup appeared ok when I put the sheets away. But I came back about 30 minutes later to check and found it dead. This happen in January 1992. The box did not say anything about any danger. But after I received a MSDS on the product it mentioned that the fabric sofner may cause intestnal pluggage problems in small children or pets. I called the company to see if they had any reports on dog deaths due to chewing the sheets. The only report they had was a german shepard that died 8 days later after chewing fabric sheets. The public does not know about this problem. There is nothing on the box.

Fleas, Ticks, Mosquitoes...Oh My!

Fleas, Ticks, Mosquitoes...Oh My!
As the warmer weather upon us now, many of us start to worry about those tough, relentless survivors we call fleas.

"Have you ever wondered why some dogs and cats have severe flea problems, while others are hardly bothered by the little pests? Fleas can be viewed as an indicator of an animal's general health. Parasites in general, and fleas in particular, are most attracted to the weak, unhealthy, or very young animal whose immune system is not functioning well. The long-term solution to a flea problem is to reduce your pet's susceptibility to fleas by improving his/her health." Jeffrey Levy, DVM

Are Your Home Cleaning Products SAFE For Your Pets, Family and Environment?

Are Your Home Cleaning Products SAFE For Your Pets, Family and Environment?

Greetings my friends! Did you know that there are hundreds of chemicals being put into common household products? Most cleaning products use "toxins", which can be harmful to your dogs and your family.

We've all heard that using household cleaners can cause health problems in kids and adults, as well as our animals. You and your dogs have probably been exposed many times to hazardous products at home without even knowing it! Your pets may run on your freshly mopped floor and then lick their paws.

We are learning how to eliminate toxins from our dog's food by feeding it a raw or home cooked diet, we are learning that vaccinations can do more harm then good. Let's stop a minute and think about how to eliminate toxins from the home environment we share with our pet companions.

I have been using non-toxic products in my home for several years now and it has made a huge difference in my family's health (which includes our 78lb Lab mix). Since I stopped using the veternarian-recommeded tic/flea products, and he seems much happier in the warm weather. I now spray a solution I mix myself containing essential oils on him before he goes out to play. It is completely harmless but tics, fleas and mosquitos hate the smell.

I have a similar situation with my beagle which ended with my euthanizing him 2 days ago. The floor was washed on 3/13 with the Bissell Flip it and he had a seizure the day after. It wasn't washed for two months and no seizure. I washed it with the Swiffer wet jet on Friday morning (antibacterial one) and he had a seizure on Friday night at 2:30 am. Our vet didn't know the cause of the seizures, suggested Valium. He was 15 and on heart meds already. I didn't put the correlation together and didn't want him to suffer with more seizures so we put him down. I'm reading this article today and realize the connection and I didn't have to lose my pet and am distraught over this. Please reply.....

Last year in March, my dalmatian Henry began having seizures. They started when I bought a Bissel vaccum cleaner and used the wood floor cleaning solution that came with it. I noticed a pattern each time I cleaned the floors - hours, sometimes a day later, Henry would have a seizure. I threw away the cleaning solution, and his seizures stopped.

This year in March, I began using Clorox Disinfecting Wipes and Henry has begun having seizures again. I was thinking the seizures were brought on by the Spring season since this happened the same time last year. I didn't figure out the connection of the wipes until 4 seizures later (am assuming Clorox is causing them). I'm hoping this is the cause and I can end the seizures by never using this product again.

Thank you for the advice on the non-toxic cleaning products.

Steroids, The Sleasziest Of Drugs

Steroids, The Sleasziest Of Drugs

Hi Friends! I am taking a little break from some of the vaccine articles I have been bringing you. I am praying that these articles are helping you to see the dangers of many of the practices of traditional pet care. First vaccinations and now steroids and antibiotics.

When I was working with Vets, it was pretty much standard practice to give a steroid injection such as Depo Medrol or cortizone for what ever was ailing the dog. Depo is a form of steriod. Oh yeah, usually the SMYPTOMS would go away - temporarily, then you have to give another shot and another...then, many of these loved pets would be coming back to us with serious ailments and diseases.

My hope in sharing this information with you is that you'll choose natural, holistic methods as often as is possible -for your dog!

Like antibiotics, steroids are one of the most abused class of drugs
in the orthodox veterinarian field of medicine. At one time, they were
reserved for the extreme emergency cases. Today, they are being used on
the most trivial of conditions. Why? They give the appearance of an instant
miracle cure which matches the expectation level of the client. So, many
vets turn to steroids as the first, rather than the last, line of attack
for their anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effects.

Eliminate Toxic Substances from Your Dog's Life

I wanted to share with you an astounding fact - it's apparently an established fact that up to 80% or more of all health problems may be caused by toxicity!

How much more so are our dogs affected when they spend large periods of their lives on the ground (where pesticides and other toxic chemicals have undoubtedly been sprayed)? When you think about it, our dog's paws are in direct contact with grass and other contaminants for much of the time. Even our own kitchen floors have usually been washed with some sort of toxic cleaning substance. Our dogs even eat grass regularly. And even if you don't spray chemicals yourself, you can bet that your neighbour down the street does. And guess where it spreads when it rains?

If You Can Not Pronounce It, Should You Use It??

*Below is an article we should all really think about. If these household cleaners/chemicals are so harmful to us and our childern, how much more so are they for our pets?*
If you can't pronounce it, should you use it?
Reporter: Wendy Mesley; Producer: Gaelyne Leslie; Researcher: Louisa Jaslow
Gideon Koren
'How can we allow these to enter our household?'
Dr. Gideon Koren

When Shawn Ellis tests the air in parts of a house where cleaners are stored, he is measuring volatile organic compounds (VOCs). His meter won't tell you how strong or harmful the chemical particles might be. It will provide clues as to how many particles there are.

'Can always smell the cleaning products'

"You can always smell those cleaners even though they’re all tightly sealed."

Everywhere the cleaning products are kept, the readings jump. The average home normally reads about 50 parts per billion.

We asked Ellis to test three products that are often advertised on television: Pledge, Clorox Wipes and Lysol Disinfecting Spray.

Hartz advanced flea and tick drops

Monday, August 30, 2004

This came to me this morning via an email group I belong to. I do not know for a fact that it is true but I do know that Hartz uses chemicals in thier products and chemicals of any kind can be and are toxic.

Last night at midnight a friend came to the house and told me our mutual friend was laying in his driveway holding his dog and crying. He was saying to his dog how sorry he was, that he only wanted to help him, please don't die.
