Flower Essences Can Help Your Pet During the Holidays

Thursday, December 07, 2006

Flower Essences Can Help Your Pet During the Holidays

With seasonal celebrations just around the corner, flower essences present a variety of easily administered options to ease your animals' experience of a busier than usual season. Flower essences help your canine companions remain balanced, calm, happy (and well behaved) during times of increased activity around them.

Animals are affected by humans and other animals; in fact they are like emotional sponges! During the holidays, with visitors, travel, social occasions, shifting routines or schedules, heightened stress or emotion in their humans and increased time alone may become sources of distress for our dogs at this time of year. Flower essences can help the animals in our homes to cope with the intensities of your own holiday season by supporting the its harmony when your friends or family visit, when activity levels increase, or when inevitable surprises occur. Animals are particularly responsive to the subtle energy that surround them, so flower essences, with their gentle vibrations, are extraordinarily effective with animals. Flower essences are safe and non-toxic, free of side effects, and economical. They are an ideal and easily accessible health resource for use with pets, working or companion animals, livestock, animals in daycare, rescue, shelter or emergency situations.

Does your pet need to be poisoned to kill parasites?

Does your pet need to be poisoned to kill parasites?

"Have you ever wondered why some dogs and cats have severe flea problems, while others are hardly bothered by the little pests? Fleas can be viewed as an indicator of an animal's general health. Parasites in general, and fleas in particular, are most attracted to the weak, unhealthy, or very young animal whose immune system is not functioning well. The long-term solution to a flea problem is to reduce your pet's susceptibility to fleas by improving his/her health." Jeffrey Levy, DVM

In the conventional animal health industry, the fact that parasites (worms, heartworm, fleas, ticks, flies, giardia) will attach themselves to a sick animal before they will attach to a healthy animal, is hardly ever made known to the pet loving public.

Flea Prevention From The Inside, Out (Naturallyl)

Flea Prevention From The Inside, Out

More information for you on Flea Prevention. I have recieved a few emails of late that say people are not wanting to use pesticides on thier pets for flea prevention but, they are not sure how to prevent fleas without them.

An important fact about fleas to remember is that they prefer weaker, less healthy hosts and very young puppies and kittens with undeveloped immune systems. Knowing this, we can arm our pets for flea resistance by boosting their health and immunity. If you have a flea problem, this is the first place to start.

I found your post on healthy dog products and I wanted to let you know about our dog steps. We build these ourselves and have sold over 3500 of them to dog owners that desperately need help with either an injured dog or an elderly dog. Our steps are sturdy and built to last the life of most dogs. Just thought you may want to let your readers know that this exists. You would be amazed at how many dog owners get up every night to let their dog off the bed and then pick him or her up because the dog can't do it alone.

Itchy Skin Or Skin Problems In Our Dogs

Monday, September 19, 2005

If your beloved canine companion is suffering from itching, scratching, chewing, or any kind of apparent skin problems, now is the time to solve its miserable condition.

As you know, getting to the root cause of a medical
condition is always my recommended course of action. In natural/holistic health, we don't treat the symptoms or mask the problem with drugs, we go after the cause of the condition and get it completely OUT of your pet's body.

Going That Extra Mile . . . Pampering Our Pets

Every year, millions of Americans indulge in the enterprise of spa-going. According to the web site, about.com, 33% of leisure travelers say that access to a spa is a primary consideration in the arrangement of their travel plans. So, it's only natural that we would want to pamper our pets as well.

According to the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association, a nonprofit trade group in Connecticut, Americans spent $34 billion on pet care last year. We all know that basic grooming is a necessity, but what about going that extra mile?

In light of The Whole Dog Store's new HealthyPetNet spa line for pets, todays news is not only about grooming our pets, but about going that extra mile and pampering them the way they deserve to be pampered.

New Life Colostrum Plus

Colostrum For Dogs

Colostrum is the pre-milk fluid produced from a mother's mammary glands during the first 72 hours after birth. It provides life-supporting immune and growth factors that insure the health and vitality of a newborn. Research has shown that Colostrum has powerful natural immune and growth factors that bring the body to a state of homeostasis -- its powerful, vital natural state of health and well being. Colostrum helps support healthy immune function; it also enhances resistance to the harmful effects of pollutants, contaminants and allergens where they attack.

Colostrum is back at The Whole Dog Store!

Bovine Colostrum, the Forgotten Miracle
Stephen R. Blake, DVM www.thepetwhisper.com

The use of bovine colostrum as a nutritional supplement in medical treatment dates back to thousands of years B.C. Ayurvedic doctors have used it for physical and spiritual purposes for 6000 years. Bovine colostrum was used in the United States, and all around the world, for immune problems, prior to the discovery of sulfa drugs and antibiotics. Countless scientific studies and human clinical trials worldwide have proven bovine colostrum to be safe and therapeutic.

I have been feeding my dog that has demodectic mange colostrum and she is responding very well. I have tried the dips and also ivermectin because she didn't repond well to the dips. I was giving her the ivermectin and feeding the colostrum at the same time. Now she is off ivermectin and still taking the colostrum. Her health is unbelievable, she looks great you would think she never had a immune problem. I am sure it was the colostrum. I am always going to feed it to her. I ran out for my kids and my husband and I. When I get more I will always feed it to my family.

Parasite Buster
Summer Special

Hi Friends, In the conventional animal health industry, the fact that
parasites (worms, heartworm, fleas, ticks, flies, giardia) will attach themselves to a sick animal before they will attach to a healthy animal, is hardly ever made known to the pet loving public but it is a fact!

Because the chemicals that conventional veterinarian medicine recommends to treat for parasites makes the pet even sicker. The side effects are so bad that in many cases, pets actually die within days of receiving these lethal doses of chemicals prescribed to kill a little bitty parasite.

Diatomeceous Earth What Is It And Why Is It So Good?

The "poop" on DE
(Diatomaceous Earth)

Hi Ya'll, Mom has been getting a lot questions lately about DE. Everythin from mommies with birds to mommies with horses.

Mommy puts DE on our food at least once a month to give us some essential minerals and help kill any tummy worms we have picked up along the way. We have friends that have thier mommys sprinkle the DE into thier hair and down to the skin to kill fleas!

This stuff is so much safer and healthy for us then those nasty ol' chemical pesticides and wormers! Okay, someone is going to steal my nyla bone if I don't hurry up here so this is the poop......

What is DE?
Agri-Growth International Inc.

It is a non-toxic, safe substance made up from crushed fossils of freshwater organisms and marine life. Crushed to a fine powder and observed through a microscope, the particles resemble bits of broken glass. Deadly to any insect and completely harmless to animals, fish, fowl or food. Most insects have a waxy outer shell covering their bodies, DE scratches through this shell causing the insect to dehydrate leading to eventual death.

More and more people are putting diatomaceous earth in their animal feed. Ever wonder why?

Of Gardening And Dogs
Picture from Moosey's Country Garden

Hi Everyone! Yup, it's me Chase again, The sun is shining, the birds are singing (Well, our African Grey Parrot, Nick does not sing but he does some wonderful whistling and loves to imatate the wild birds singing!) It's Summer Here in California and I am headed outside to our garden to roll in the grass and bounce through the flowers and chase butterfies! Mom's going to talk to you about gardening and dogs and how to do it "naturally". Enjoy! ARF!

I am or least I try to be an avid gardner. Before my neck injury I would be outside in my yard/garden every chance I had. On the weekends I could not wait to get out there with the dogs and cat. While they lounged in the sun and rolled in the lawn, I got down and dirty.

Ear Care For Our Dogs

Tuesday, May 03, 2005

The Whole Dog Store is very pleased to re-introduce our ear care product with a new, easy application bottle. This product is back due to a demand from our pet professionals. They work with pets every day and were impressed with this product’s effectiveness. Ear Care Formula really works and we are proud to place it back in our product line.

Read on for ear care tips for our dogs...

Keeping our pet’s ears clean is a necessary part of keeping our pets healthy. Unhealthy ears can be very painful and if left untreated can turn into a serious problem. There’s no need for pets to suffer. Ear health ranks as the most frequent routine reason people bring pets to veterinarians. Why? The answer is anatomy. Most dog and cat ears are anatomical incubators. Perfect little places for dirt and wax to build up and for growing and sustaining unhealthy microorganisms.

Herbs & Animals

Animals and Herbs

Friends, Did you know that Animals in the wild were our first instructors on the use of herbs? Through observation of wild animals, our ancestors were able to determine the medicinal properties of certain plants. As a new feature, each month, I'll select an herb or food and examine its health benefits, nutritional content and if applicable, medicinal properties.

Your own dog(s) may display some characteristics similar to those of the wild - we have all witnessed our dogs go out foraging for grass when they have a belly ache. If we lived in more wild terrain we may have observed that they choose one particular patch of greens over the other, this would be an example of an our own dogs inherent herbal medicine handbook past down from ancient generations when the dogs were in charge of their own health care.

Rescue Remedy - 20 ml

Bach’s RESCUE REMEDY For Animals

By Donna Klaesson

Greetings Friends,! Fellow reader and subscriber of the Whole Dog News Channel, Donna Klaesson sent me this article on Resuce Remedy that I think you will enjoy.

Our dog, Heidi, was bitten by a snake several years ago and while heading to the vet, I gave her a dosage ( probably 4 drops or so, whatever fit into the end of the dropper) about every 5 minutes I think....it took about 25 minutes from the snake bite to when we were at the vets, as I recall, and just as I opened the back door for Heidi to get out of the car, she threw up a huge amount of what looked like raw egg white mixture. Vet said it saved her life!!! Most of the venom came out at that time rather than flowing through her body!!!

Never Worry About Your Dog's Bathroom Needs Again!

I know some of you readers live in the city and use "wee wee"/"Pee" pads for your dogs when you are going to be gone all day or your dog walker is sick. You are going LOVE this!!!!!

I just came across this great website that I am enthusiastically telling all my dog lover friends about - Wizdog.com.

It's is one of the most unique and neat products I have seen in years!

Wizdog - Indoor Dog Potty is a revolutionary housetraining system for dogs. Pee pads get shredded or stepped-in after liquid elimination and tracked all over carpet and furniture. Consisting of a durable plastic pan and fitted grate, liquid waste dispenses through the grate onto newspaper or pee pad, separated from your dog's paws. This is the cleanest, simplist and lowest cost solution to dog housetraining.

Ever get stuck in traffic and realize you didn't get home "in-time" to let the dog out? Wish you didn't have to get up at 6 am on the weekends to let the dog out? Does your dog not like to go out if it is raining or too cold out? Never Worry Again - Wizdog is an indoor dog potty just for those occassions. Consisting of a durable plastic pan and fitted grate, liquid waste dispenses through the grate onto newspaper or pee pad, separated from your dog's paws - No more wet paw tracks throughout your house.

Check it out for yourself - Wizdog

Be sure to click on the link to make the dog talk - it's hysterical!
