Infants and Children Supported with |Natural Vitamins| and Supplementation

Published by Tana Hamier - Goes Green Mentor

Infants are not just little people and what may be good for you, perhaps even necessary could be exactly opposite what an infant needs. They too need |Natural Vitamins| and Supplementation to add to their food sources. Here are a few ideas for your ‘little person’.

Sometimes infants are not getting enough food or it is not the right food. If so, then using supplements can add to their nutritional plan just what is needed. Also as a Grandmother of 15 I’ve found some can be quiet finicky eaters. That brings on extra challenges. Google Search on nutrition for children give may atricles and things to watch for.

Infant Mix is full of 23 essential natural vitamins and minerals and it tastes so good that you don’t need to fight getting them to take it. [Read More!]

Nutritional Health Supplements – Calcium

Osteoporosis Isn't Chosen Intentionally.

Osteoporosis is a condition commonly found in middle aged women or elderly men, where the bone mass decreases. Osteoporosis is a condition where your bone cell turn over rate is so quick that an aging body can not produce enough new bone cells to keep the bones thick. While osteoporosis is often thought of as an older person's disease, it can strike at any age and is called a "Silent Enemy," because you may not find out you have it until something bad happens to you. Osteoporosis is not really a disease, but rather a risk factor for broken bones.

Women seem to be at greater risk of developing osteoporosis because of the changes that occur during menopause. For women bone loss usually begins at around age 30 and proceeds slowly and continuously to menopause. Once seen mainly as a risk to women, weak bones afflict men, too -- even elite athletes. We can lose up to 120mg of calcium during every hour of exercise. Pregnant women are usually advised to take nutritional health supplements to prevent deficiencies in the mother and/or baby.

Bones are like a muscle and if you don't put stress on them they deteriorate. What people do in their 20s, 30s and 40s can shore up a strong skeleton or start a silent erosion, leading to brittle bones that can shatter in old age. Physical activity that puts some form of strain or stress on bones causes the bones to retain and possibly even gain density throughout its life.

To help this condition diets rich in green vegetables (preferably raw), lots of fruits, lots of raw nuts (Brazil nuts are KEY), and whole grains will provide you with the nutrients you need. Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, collards, kale, mustard greens, turnip greens, and others are loaded with highly absorbable calcium and a host of other important nutrients. A person should eat a couple of meals with foods that have a lot of Calcium and Vitamin D in them. Unfortunately the Western diet, which is high in saturated fats, salts, animal proteins, and processed sugars doesn't promote a healthy life.

While a perfect diet could take care of the necessary vitamins and minerals, in today’s hustle and bustle world we more than ever need to take nutritional health supplements. A lot of people think that by taking just a calcium supplement they’ll have their bases covered.

You need more than just calcium to build strong bones. You also need additional nutrients including vitamins D & K, magnesium, and more to build and maintain strong bones. Keep in mind that supplementation is just that; use it to enhance your diet not as a substitute for good food sources.

The best way to prevent osteoporosis is to avoid smoking, avoid drinking alcohol, get lots of exercise, eat a good diet low in sugars and fat and add high quality nutritional health supplements to your diet.

Vitamin & Supplements: Nutritional Health Supplements – Fish Oil

Shaklee Online Distributor
David Duncan

According to the Centers for Disease Control and the American Heart Association, heart disease — specifically coronary artery disease — is still the number one cause of death of men and women in the United States. And while it was once considered a man's disease, today more women than men die from heart disease. And unfortunately, at least 100 million Americans have one or more risk factors for heart disease.

To reduce the risk of heart disease, the AHA recommends eating two servings of fish rich in omega-3 fatty acids each week. But most Americans eat fish only three times per month or less. Moreover, there are growing concerns about unsafe levels of contaminants such as mercury and lead that are now commonly found in many fish.

Fish oil is an excellent source of EPA and DHA, which the body uses to make the “calming” omega-3 fatty acids and keep the brain healthy. These compounds help to reduce artery blockages and prevent heart attacks. Fish oil is also associated with improved blood vessel functioning and decreased resting heart rate.

According to reports coming from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality Fish oil can help reduce deaths from heart disease, The systematic reviews of the available data found evidence that long chain omega-3 fatty acids, the beneficial component ingested by eating fish or taking fish oil as nutritional health supplements, reduce heart attack and other problems related to heart and blood vessel disease in persons who already have these conditions, as well as their overall risk of death.

Omega-3 essential fatty acids do a lot more than benefit your heart though. DHA appears to be a wonderfully powerful nutrient in regard to how your brain functions. Research is also showing that nutritional health supplements with omega-3 fish oils can result in a significant reduction in joint inflammation; this reduces morning stiffness and lowers the number of painful joints in rheumatoid arthritis patients both animal and human.

Our elderly population should also be aware of the benefits of fish oil, the DHA and EPA can help retard the brain atrophy, prevent the brain function from recession and reduce the incidence of Alzheimer disease. Fish oil is an excellent source of energy, Vitamin A, D and omega-3 fatty acids. Vitamin A and D are concentrated in the liver of fish, therefore the concentration of Vitamin A and D is higher in oils extracted from livers, such as, cod liver oil, tuna liver oil, etc.

It is important to get fish oil nutritional health supplements that are certified to be pharmaceutical grade. Use of the low temperature triple molecular distillation purification process is what concentrates the oil avoiding formation of trans fats removing any heavy metals leaving a low odor, no aftertaste and easy to digest fish oil capsule. At the end of this process you have the full spectrum of seven ultra pure omega-3 fatty acids found in fish. These include DHA, EPA, ALA and four other naturally occurring omega-3s.

Product Nutrition - Managing Stress

MANAGING STRESS

Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii! Although I have lived on the island for almost 5 years, I must admit that I do still have stress. Now there is good stress and bad stress. Good stress is one that motivates you and bad stress is depressing.

Here is a list of ways you can manage and alleviate stress:

1. Meditate – Lay down or sit in a relaxing position. Shut your eyes and take deep breaths. Concentrate and listen to your breathing. Be aware of your surroundings as you breath. In your busy schedule, do this for about 2-3 minutes throughout the day around the same time, possibly before every meal. It will help you enjoy your food as well. Meditate in the morning as soon as you wakeup or when you are feeling stressed. Most of us forget to take nourishing breathes during the day in order to feed our brain with oxygen.

2. Get at least 7-8 hours of sleep. 3. Here are some suggestions regarding self care for insomnia:

  • Go to bed about the same time every night and get up at the same time every morning.
  • Do not over sleep.
  • Set your alarm and face the clock away from you so that you can not see the time.
  • Get into a good daily exercise routine that you can live with.
  • Avoid caffeine, alcohol and nicotine.
  • Avoid napping during the day.
  • Keep your bedroom temperature comfortable.
  • Check with your doctor regarding medications that may be keeping you awake.

3. Eat right. There are good and bad diets. Use your common sense and stay on a good one that you can live with. Try to eat, as the Orientals do in their diet - have enough poultry, fish, and vegetables.

4. Make sure that you are taking the right kind of vitamins and enough of them.

5. Take a good stress relief supplement that helps relax the mind and body http://www.shaklee.net/maxima/product/20656

6. Give gratitude and trust everyday. Gratitude for both living and unliving things. Give gratitude in everything that comes your way, even the bad situations. There are lessons to be learned in every situation. If the lessons are not learned, the situation will not change for the better. And trust in yourself that you can handle anything that comes your way. This includes mind, body and spirit pain. Give gratitude to the pain and trust that you can handle it. There you will find lessons learned such as strength, caring people, love and comfort, etc.

7. Be in the moment. If you are not in the moment for yourself and other people, it would be difficult to enjoy life and be happy. If you are not in the moment you are either in the past or in the future. Be present because it is a gift. My daily routine has been Qigong, energy healing self care, a good diet, and being in the moment as much as I can. Put them all together and it heals the mind, body, and spirit.

Nutritional Health Supplements – Saw Palmetto

Natural Product: Nutritional Health Supplements – Saw Palmetto

Shaklee Online Distributor
David Duncan

I’m going address an issue that seems to get an abundance of commercial time when us guys are looking at sports on television. Do you notice how many ads there are touting an over abundance of “men’s products”? It’s hard to believe how much time the drug companies have purchased so they can promote their next miracle cure all drugs.

If you are as disgusted as I am with what is continually promoted then you might want to consider an alternative remedy. The wisdom of our ancestors in these matters is just as good if not better than the drugs being pushed on us. You won’t need to worry about the disclaimer either at the end because of the side effects doing more harm than the good of the treatment you’re starting with.

Believe it or not you can find what you may be looking for in natural nutritional health supplements but you won’t see it in an advertisement while watching your sports’ championship series.

Ancient Wisdom of the Original Naturalists

American Indians used Saw Palmetto fruit for food as a treatment for genitourinary tract disturbances, a remedy for reproductive system problems, a tonic to support the body nutritionally and as a love potion. It is now a popular and effective treatment for prostate enlargement in men but has it’s origins in natural medicine as a breast enlarger for women and is still recommended today by naturopathic physicians for increasing breast size.

As you can see our ancestors already figured out that Saw Palmetto is known for its aphrodisiac properties, as well as being helpful in maintaining a proper hormone balance in the prostate gland, which is necessary for optimal sexual function. It is used by doctors in Italy, Germany and France for benign enlargement of the prostate.

Today’s research is showing us that Saw Palmetto is excellent for treating swollen or enlarged prostate, commonly called benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Symptoms of BPH include difficulty in urinating, dull aches, impotence, difficulty maintaining an erection, urgency and waking to urinate. Regular use of saw palmetto supports normal urinary elimination, especially during the night when you’re trying to sleep..

Research indicates that up to 90% of the men that have regularly used Saw Palmetto have responded favorably. Some studies in Europe show that this herb not only reduces the discomfort and symptoms of BPH, but also reduces the actual size of the prostate gland.

Saw Palmetto the Plant

Saw Palmetto is a very drought-tolerant plant, growing in the dry flat woods, dunes, scrub and low-lying areas on the coastal plain from South Carolina to Florida and Louisiana. Saw palmetto is also known as the American dwarf palm tree, cabbage palm, and it goes by the Latin names Serenoa repens and Sabal serrulata.

It has large, broad palm-like laves that are light green inland and silvery-white in costal regions. The stem of the palm frond is serrated like a saw, hence its name. Saw Palmetto is extremely slow growing, but long lived, with some plants, especially in Florida, living for over seven hundred years.

This is a subject that a lot of men let their egos get in the way of. At least silently admit the problem to yourself, ok? My intention for presenting this information is for your education and to possibly give you the option to use alternative nutritional health supplements that you don’t need a prescription for.

Business Opportunity - A Leap of Faith

A LEAP OF FAITH FOR SUCCESS

Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii! My husband and I moved to the island almost 5 years ago. It was our inspiration and intuition that brought us to the Big Island to start our own businesses to help people as well as those around the world - that is the power of the internet. With our knowledge and experience, we were able to start two businesses, Kona Kai Bath and Kitchen and Customized Computer Training.

I was born in San Francisco and lived in the Bay Area most of my life. I was a city girl. I loved the crowd, the skyscrapers and city lights. I worked for world renowned companies such as Primary Payments a subsidiary of Star Systems, Levi Strauss and Company, and Estee Lauder Services. I had high power positions in these companies as Client Support Director, Computer Support Analyst, and Field Support Executive respectively. My husband and I had a beautiful home on the water in Marin County with a 32' boat parked in the back yard. It was my picture of success when I was a little girl. I had my dream jobs and dream home, a dream life for success. Working for Estee Lauder Services, I traveled the U.S. staying at 5 star hotels and eating at 5 star restaurants. However, I was not happy. I could not put my figure on why.

That was when my husband and I took that leap of faith to move to Hawaii. This is an ultimate dream for a lot of people to move to paradise. Do not get me wrong, it is paradise. However, if you do not leave your baggage behind, they will come along with you and haunt you. We had to learn how to leave our baggage behind and move forward to a totally new lifestyle. No professional suits to Aloha wear with flip flops. Not an issue. None of that straight face and passing by the homeless without reaching out to them. It's that Aloha spirit you hear about and helping people everywhere, no matter who they are. This is the joy and success that I had to learn the hard way.

Our businesses give us something to do before we retire but it does not provide us with the financial security we need to retire. Becoming a Shaklee Distributor provides that security and allows us to have extra savings for travel vacations and other dreams.

Join the band wagon for success. If you are like me and want to help people no matter who they are and where they live, have a computer, and are creative, you can help them get started with an online home business of their own. Or you can start your own.

Nutrirional Health Supplements - Phytonutrients

Phytonutrients are powerful and healthy substances to include in your diet. While technically not "nutrients" (which include carbohydrates, protein, fat, vitamins and minerals which are deemed essential to life), there is growing evidence that phytonutrients play a crucial role in thwarting or reducing the risk of a number of chronic ailments, including heart disease, diabetes, cancer and macular degeneration.

Fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, nuts and teas are rich sources of phytonutrients. The US FDA has assigned Daily Values (DVs) for only 33 nutrients, but has not established DVs for the many hundreds of identified phytonutrients. Fruits and vegetables are indeed recommended in our diets. They are high in antioxidants, but can also contain harmful chemicals that are not so healthy. If you can’t get organic produce from a known source then you can also choose nutritional health supplements that contain phytonutrients.

Phytonutrients contribute to the plant's self-defense system by protecting it from pests, viruses, bacteria and excessive sunlight. Phytonutrients are a class of health-promoting, bio-active compounds with many sub-categories. By some counts, more than 100,000 phytonutrient compounds have been identified and catalogued.

Phytonutrients are found in beta carotene in carrots, lycopene in tomatoes, isoflavone in beans, and catechin in green tea. They are most potent in raw, unprocessed vegetables. Phytonutrients are strong antioxidants that help prevent cell damage that can lead to disease. Some of the phytonutrients in grapes may also help prevent heart disease by inhibiting the build up of plaque in coronary arteries.

Studies show that foods high in glucosinolates reduce the risk of lung, stomach, colorectal, and breast cancer. Glucosinolates are so good at fighting cancer by detoxifying the liver. Studies indicate that anthocyanins may block the inflammation connected with arthritis, gastric ulcers and cardiovascular disease. In addition, anthocyanins may help normalize blood sugar levels by properly metabolizing them.

Soybeans contain phytoesterol, isoflavones, and protease inhibitors. And, each family of phytonutrients has a particular effect on biological functions. Soybeans are considered to be one of the premier sources of phyto based elements. In addition to the high levels of protein, soybeans also contain isoflavones and protease inhibitors that can enhance cardiovascular health.

Carotenoids, one class of phytonutrients, are the red, orange, and yellow pigments in fruits and vegetables. Beta carotene, the carotenoid abundant in cherries, is more efficiently converted to retinol than other carotenoids; retinol is one of the most usable forms of vitamin A. Carotenoids include yellow, orange, and red pigment in fruits and vegetables. Dark, green, leafy vegetables are rich in the carotenoid, beta carotene, but the usual yellow color is masked by the chlorophyll, the green pigment in the vegetables.

Cherries are also rich in antioxidants and have natural anti-inflammatory properties. Several studies have indicated that cherries assist in muscle repair, are good for the skin, and even lower cholesterol.

As you can see phytonutrients are a big part of the food that’s available to us, if only we would just eat it. In today’s fast paced lifestyle highly processed foods from the many fast food restaurants leaves us lagging in the goodness that Mother Nature intended for us to have. If that sounds like a problem that you have then the good news is you can get your phytonutrients from nutritional health supplements.

Vitamin & Supplements - Back to Basics

Thursday, July 24, 2008

Published by Maxima Forslund – Independent Business Owner

Back to Basics

Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii! I just turned 50 years old this year and many people believe that I am in my early 30s. You ask, "What is my secret to being youthful and staying healthy?" It is actually no secret. I am going to share with you what I have been doing to stay healthy. Please keep in mind that everyone is different and that you are only going to learn and use what you believe is best and right for you so that you come up with your own routine to stay healthy. Continue to do your research.

Be happy with who you are. I have not weighed myself for many years, I do not count calories or carbohydrates, or take any medication. I only take natural vitamins. An Oriental doctor, Dr. Dong, I used to see taught me some lessons about how to stay healthy. You might have read is book entitled “The Arthritic’s Cookbook”. He prescribed the diet in his book to all his patients no matter what was ailing them.

He told me a story which intrigued me. He started his story by saying that when he was in his 30s he had serious arthritis and could not find a doctor who could help him. I believe he was in his 70s when he told me this story. He explains why he became a physician to help people. He had just moved into a new space in the building he owned, located in San Francisco's Chinatown, and was very excited to show me around. He had pictures of famous people all autograph to him, a picture of him with Pope Paul II, and a recent picture of his wife so beautiful. He asked that I guess his wife’s age. Hmmm…I guessed 40s. Nope, wrong. She was in her 60s. Okay, so I want to know how she has stayed so young looking and if she discovered the fountain of youth.

Stay on a good healthy diet you can live with. So Dr. Dong continues his story by saying that everyone is going to feed me a bunch of garbage and mind blowing information about food and diet to stay youthful and healthy. Now keep in mind that the timeframe he was telling me this story is over 25 years ago. He said that the Orientals had the healthiest diet in the world and they lived longer than any other nationality. Their diet consisted of rice, poultry, fish and vegetables. If you look at his list, it does not include dairy, fruits or red meat. He said that as soon as the Chinese starting importing cows to China for dairy and meat, physically the Chinese became larger, generation after generation and their health went downhill. The only vitamin he recommended anyone take was Vitamin B-12. He said it kills him to see many people drinking orange juice daily for their daily required Vitamin C. He couldn’t believe all the advertisements for orange juice. Keep in mind that one of the best cleaning products is made of oranges. Dr. Dong said that there is more water and acid in orange juice than the Vitamin C needed for a healthy diet. Plus a person only needs milk for the Vitamin D when they are young and still growing. When a person gets older, they can receive the required Vitamin D from the sun for the average of 10 minutes a day. He said that if you stayed on his diet, you will have all the vitamins and nutrition needed especially the Vitamin C you get from vegetables alone. Dr. Dong mentioned that we don’t know what other chemicals are included in industrial vitamins. If you are to take any vitamins, natural vitamins would be the best.

Find a physician you can trust. Not to put anyone down because of their training, but doctors, now a days, do not know what you are putting into your body and it gets more and more difficult for them to diagnose an ailment. But remember now, every ailment has a name and a pill to cure it…ha ha ha. Dr. Dong ended his story by saying, “just remember the basics.” No longer do I have asthma, bad rash or swelling in the calves. The rash and swelling is what I initially went to see him for. For the asthma, we get the VOG in Kona which is the remnants of the active volcano. The VOG does not bother me but does bother others who have asthma. Dr. Dong believed that you are either on a good or bad diet. The last visit I had with him was when he was 94 and he had just retired. He passed away at the age of 95. Ever since I can remember, my husband and I have been on Dr. Dong’s soup diet which includes mainly rice, peas, and tuna. My husband modified the recipe a little and that is what we have most daily. Amazingly, my husband insists on it. It has kept us both healthy.

Be happy and be true to yourself everyday. My daily routine has been Qigong, energy healing self care, the diet mentioned above, and being in the moment as much as I can. Put them all together and it heals the mind, body, and spirit.

Anyway, check out all the wonderful natural vitamins that we have to offer.

Omega 3 Oils: The Essential Nutrients from Your |Natural Vitamins|

Published by Tana Hamier - Goes Green Mentor

I will apply dietetic measures for the benefit of the sick according to my ability and judgment; I will keep them from harm and injustice; “Above all; I will do no harm.” Oath of Hippocrates

Much is being said about Omega 3 Oils and the importance for our health. |Natural Vitamins| and Supplements are necessary where our dietary intake fall short. And in today’s world of eating on the run, fast foods, and over 1/3rd of all meals in restaurants, there probably has never been a greater need for |natural vitamins| and supplements.

Google Search on Omega 3 Oils reveals: “There are good fats and there are bad fats. Artificially produced trans-fatty acids are bad in any amount and saturated fats from animal products should be kept to a minimum.

The best fats or oils rather, since they are liquid at room temperature, are those that contain the essential fatty acids so named because without them we die. Essential fatty acids are polyunsaturated and grouped into two families, the omega-6 EFAs and the omega-3 EFAs.

Seemingly minor differences in their molecular structure make the two EFA families act very differently in the body. While the metabolic products of omega-6 acids promote inflammation, blood clotting, and tumor growth, the omega-3 acids act entirely opposite.

Sports Products: Nutritional Health Supplements – Protein in Its Many Disguises

Wednesday, July 23, 2008

Protein is composed of smaller units called amino acids. Our bodies can’t manufacture the nine essential amino acids, so it’s important to include them in our diets. Protein is an extremely important nutrient whether your goal is to lose fat, gain muscle or just tone yourself up. It is the main structural nutrient in your body, making up the bulk of your muscles and organs. Protein is the main component of our muscles, organs, and the glands of the immune system. Every living cell in our body contains protein; and all body fluids, except urine and bile, contain protein.

Protein – Milk, Animal or Plant

Milk contains protein but it can cause reactions in folks that are intolerant to lactose, this can include vomiting, rhinitis and coughing symptoms, diarrhea, hives, difficulty in breathing, intestinal symptoms and, in the worst case, an anaphylactic shock. Milk comes with enzymes which help the body digest the milk. Pasteurization kills all of these enzymes.

Egg white protein contains all of the essential amino acids in biologically significant amounts and is simply one of the most complete sources of proteins and amino acids in existence. Egg protein is 100 percent lactose free, as is soy protein. There are more expensive varieties of whey that are 100 percent lactose free as well.

Hemp is a mostly forgotten type of protein that was used. Our grand parents and our great grand parents had access to many hemp products including hemp seeds that contain the valuable protein. I did a quick search on Google and found that you can still get this type of protein powder supplement.

Plant proteins that come in our breads and cereals and lack some of the essential amino acids. That is why their protein is often called “incomplete.” It is recommended that at least 50 to 75 percent of your protein needs come from complete protein sources such as nutritional health supplements.

Amino acids are the building blocks for proteins. Antibodies, enzymes and hormones are proteins. Amino acids are the building blocks of protein and this means essential amino acids are necessary for the body to function properly and to stay strong and healthy. Essential amino acids are amino acids which are indispensable to the body, but are not manufactured our bodies, therefore it is important that these amino acids be obtained in some way.

Protein powder is designed to be taken everyday as many nutritional health supplements are. Even if you aren't a bodybuilder or everyday athlete, starting your day with a protein powder shake can provide many benefits.

Protein powder is widely regarded as the most important supplement for gaining muscle mass if you are training. Many nutritional experts also believe that the more sources of protein you consume the greater muscle growth. Protein powder is commonly used by both men and women in their quest for a better physique. Protein powder is essential for any strength training and athletic individuals, since it is so hard to get the protein you need from normal food without increasing your calorie or fat intake at the same time, thus making you fat.

Soy protein powder is one protein powder that is excellent for shakes because it is tasteless yet adds a thick, creamy texture. Soy has numerous effective health benefits on the cardiovascular and hormonal systems. Soy has continued to emerge as a nutritional health supplements powerhouse.

When picking out soy based protein powders one of the most important things to look for is Non-Genetically Modified Organism products. Soybean plants are the most genetically modified organism (GMO) in the United States food supply. As of January 2006 the percentage of soybeans that have been genetically modified is estimated to be 75% and spreading fast. Shaklee uses an independent certification process that ensures the soybeans used in their soy protein powder are free from exposure to genetically modified soybeans.

It doesn’t matter if you are 5 or 50 yrs old. Good Health is Pure Gold. And Natural Vitamins and Supplements are a necessary part of that. Good health isn't just about feeling good and adding on years to your life. If you consistently evaluate your health and keep up a beneficial lifestyle, you'll save money at the doctor's office, on prescription and over-the-counter drugs, and expensive tests and procedures.

Habits that hurt us include:

Smoking, now that should be no surprise, we all know that smoking kills. Stop and you’ll reduce your chances of cancer while improving your sensitivity to allergies and respiratory system.

Drinking alcohol in excess takes a very serious toll on your health, your whole body and now they even know your brain is being seriously affected by chronic dehydration and a weak immune system.

Unhealthy Snacking, junk food got its name for a reason. It is JUNK, snacking on greasy fast foods and sweets increases dramatically your chances for diabetes. Snacking also causes dental problems which affect overall health.

Don’t Sleep Around. Excuse me for a delicate problem, BUT Promiscuity isn’t just a moral issue: it is one of the fastest ways to get diseases. Practice safe sex and make sure you know your partners sexual history beforehand. You can think that only happens with stupid teens and young adults, Wrong!

So Lets Look at some Good Habits

Take |Natural Vitamins| and Supplements. They are Multi Vitamins for over 50. If you don’t get enough Iron Plus you get anemia, and if you don’t get enough calcium in your food plan, you need to take Natural Vitamin Supplement Calcium. Taking |Natural Vitamins| can be considered costly but not nearly as costly as poor health. [Read More!]

|Natural Vitamins| and Iron – We All Need It But Where Is It

Published by Tana Hamiter

I will apply dietetic measures for the benefit of the sick according to my ability and judgment; I will keep them from harm and injustice; “Above all; I will do no harm.” Oath of Hippocrates

Google Search on Natural Vitamin Supplement – Why |Natural Vitamins| better rather that the common industrial variety? It is important not to add to what we are already getting through our food chain. We ingest so many manmade chemicals through our diet and more through the environment.

One thing you can do is make sure our |Natural Vitamins| give you what you need without adding chemicals to the mix. Something’s we can avoid and something’s we can’t. |Natural Vitamins| we have choice over.

Look at Iron for example.

Natural Vitamins with Iron is a supplement that we need on a regular basis yet it is sometimes challenging to get it with the common diet that many people eat on a weekly basis.

Most research shows that 90% of women ages 12 to 50 don't get the recommended daily amount. Teens (both boys and girls) need it to help them grow strong. Iron Complex with Vitamin C is often the best choice.

Eat a well balanced diet of natural foods, fruits, vegetables and grains. But it is wise to supplement for optimum health and wellness.

So make sure that your nutritional supplements contain only natural ingredients.

Home Based Business Set Up for Income Opportunity

Published by Tana Hamiter – Goes Green Mentor

Work at home or what you would call a |Home Based Business| is a popular way to run a small company. Working from home has so many advantages; my favorite is what I call the 2 minute commute! Seriously though, it dramatically decreases the start-up costs such as leasing a commercial business space, improvements, utilities and major office equipment expenses.

There are literally thousands of people entering into a |home based business| due to the sagging economy, massive business layoffs, and whole industries vanishing as work moves overseas. Families are needed in the past a second income for those little extras; families now need a steady income they can count on. I strongly suggest diversification (never put all your eggs in one basket).

Here is some basic advice for your |income opportunity| in your home based business: [Read More!]

Summer Time and the Garden is Growing – Where are YOUR Natural Vitamins?

Published by Tana Hamiter – Goes Green Mentor

I will apply dietetic measures for the benefit of the sick according to my ability and judgment; I will keep them from harm and injustice; “Above all; I will do no harm.” Oath of Hippocrates

‘Tis the season for Gardening: enjoying Fresh Fruits and Variables, so why the need for Natural Vitamins and Suppliants?

In 1992, medical doctors persuaded the federal government to revise its dietary guidelines away from meat consumption despite tremendous opposition by the beef and dairy industries.

Why? Because the old "Food Group Chart," dutifully posted in most American classrooms during the post-war years, had little to do with correct nutrition. The Food Guide Pyramid shows the major portion of food intake to be grains, vegetables, and fruits.

Native people of this land and those of every land I’ve traveled to say, “Eat what goes locally and is in season. Eat lots of fresh fruits and variables, several servings daily”. Guess they forgot to put that on the ‘fast food drive through window’. [Read More!]

Pulished by Tana Hamiter - Goes Green Mentor

Were you aware that as a Shaklee Distributor we have access to a complete line of natural vitamins and nutritional supplement? And with it comes wealth of information on children and youth health needs.

For example: 75% of brain capacity develops between birth and age three. By age five, brain development is 90% complete. Read on Children’s Health to get yourself into the information that is available for you and your family. We have 50 years of science and quality research behind all these articles. Read up on Natural Vitamins and Supplementation. Childrens Health - Begins Now!

It's hard to compete against fast-food kids' meals--salty, fatty food, served quickly, in a bright, exciting place--and they come with toys! It’s no wonder trips to fast-food restaurants have become the pinnacle of gastronomic delight for most preschool children in the United States. But here, in these fast-food restaurants, children miss out on important nutrients and fill their tummies (and arteries) with things they don't need. We need to be very clear about what they need and what they don't in order to avoid being knocked over by the junk food current.

Children do need whole grains. They do need fresh fruits and fresh vegetables. They do need a source of calcium for their growing bones. They do need healthy sources of proteins, either from fish, poultry, eggs, and meat, or from plant sources. These foods give them the vitamins, minerals, and micronutrients they need to build high-quality bodies.

We live in a time of Fast Food, but can we combine the two, Fast Food & Good Nutrition? YES – lets explore some options.

Meal Shakes are tasty and full of all the natural vitamins and supplements that are needed for growing children.

Soy Protein Shakes are available in several flavors as well.

If your child or teen has been hitting the junk food isle or fast food roll through, you might want to consider Our Slim Drinks.

Our special formula for Natural Vitamins for Children is a comprehensive, tooth-friendly multivitamin and mineral supplement. Or in a Liquid Citrus Form.

Our children and youth are our treasure. Let’s do all we can to get them off to a good healthy start in life and also one of setting a good example of using Natural Vitamins and Supplement. The sooner we learn to nutritionally care for our bodies, the better.

Anti-Aging Skin Care - NEW Paraben Free Products

A message from...
Cindy McAsey-Marketing Strategies Coach

Anti-Aging Skin Care - New Paraben FREE Products

Recently, there has been a lot of consumer focus on personal care products that contain parabens ~ effective preservatives that have long been used to protect consumers from microbial contamination in personal care products during storage and use. Though there?s never been solid science supporting a safety concern, questions we hear from you indicate that a growing number of consumers prefer personal care products without parabens.

As a result, our company has rigorously researched a safe and effective alternative to these preservatives and begun removing them from our personal care and cosmetic products.

You can look for the first of our personal care products that have been reformulated to be paraben-free - from our Anti- Aging skincare line - in August 2008, followed by products in our Natural Cosmetic line in September 2008. The remainder of our personal care products will be paraben-free beginning fall/winter 2008.

Look for more information as it arrives right here on this Shaklee Distributors Online channel.

Different B vitamins come from many different natural sources, such as potatoes, lentils, chilli peppers, bananas, tempeh, liver oil, liver, turkey, tuna, Nutritional yeast (or brewer’s yeast) and molasses.

Now why is that important?: Vitamin B has 9 parts to it and each as a specific property that relates to our health? For detailed info Google: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitamin_B\ for an extensive amount of information on each element of B complex.

Lack of certain parts of B Complex include health issues such as: weight loss and emotional disturbances, weakness and pain in the limbs, inflammation, mental confusion, and more. [Read More!]

Natural Vitamins – Good Night’s Sleep

Published by Tana Hamiter – Goes Green Mentor

I will apply dietetic measures for the benefit of the sick according to my ability and judgment; I will keep them from harm and injustice; “Above all; I will do no harm.” Oath of Hippocrate

Can Natural Vitamins and Supplements have a positive effect on our sleep patterns? YES! What we eat, when we eat and how it is prepared all have affects on our health, wellness and yes, our sleep patterns.

Natural Vitamins are valuable for supplementing what we lack in our daily nutrition.

Sleep and that feeling of waking fully refreshed and ready to embrace the day is a luxury that many don’t find coming easily. Are you one of the ones that toss and turns through the night? If so, you are not alone. Many people struggle with getting good nights sleep on occasion. Many have the problem more often.

If you’re not getting enough sleep it can make you feel out of sorts and going about your day unfocused – somewhat like being one step off center, out of sync with people, your activates and thoughts. Lack of sleep makes it difficult for work and relationships with family, friends and coworkers. It can feel like you just can’t get your mind engaged in what activates are happening around you. Natural Vitamans - Diabetics and Glucose Regulation 5

How are you managing your diabetics and glucose regulation? Are Natural Vitamains and Supplemts a Key Factor for YOU?

Published by Tana Hamiter - Goes Green Mentor

I will apply dietetic measures for the benefit of the sick according to my ability and judgment; I will keep them from harm and injustice; “Above all; I will do no harm.” Oath of Hippocrates

It is estimated that 246 million people worldwide have diabetes. And diabetes is the leading cause of death in most developed countries. Some researcher’s g o so far as to say, that it is reaching epidemic proportions in many of the new industrialized nations.

Diabetes can have several contributing factors but two are hereditary and the second is poor diet with lack of exercise. In our country we can often bring this illness upon us with poor eating habits and lack of Natural Vitamins and Supplements. Often It occurs due to family inherited characteristics. Either way, there are many things that can be done to preserve health and wellness.

Poorly controlled diabetes is associated with the development of many illnesses. Among them are: renal failure, neuropathy, vision loss, macro vascular diseases and amputations. Macro vascular complications are the major cause of death it people with diabetes. Also there is a link between poorly controlled diabetes and depression that has been reported.

Natural Vitamins and Supplementation with a proper diet and exercise are something you can do to improve health and wellness. Let’s look at several natural vitamins and supplementations that may be of assistance to your personal program or of someone you give care to.

Glucose Regulation is critical for both diabetics and those with hypoglycemic challenges. With Glucose Regulation, you'll regulate your blood glucose more efficiently and there are many benefits to mind and body with that.

Look to Go Energy: There are other factors to be considered. For example: to help you resist fatigue, replenish energy, and encourage more efficient oxygen utilization.

Boost metabolism. Help keep blood sugar steady. Get the vitamins and minerals you need. This can help fight hunger and balance and provide your Multivitamin and Multimineral needs.

Stress Relief is an important factor for maintaining health and Natural Vitamins and Supplements have a place that.

We shouldn’t live on Natural Vitamins and Supplements alone. Quality of life is much more than that. Good food cooked properly, exercise (find something you enjoy and develop it into you daily habits), and friends; yes friends. We are all healthier with and active life filled with friends, fun, laughter and gratitude.

If you already know – Great, but if not, find your Passion in life, what gives you ‘Juice’ as I put it. When we have our life in flow with passion for living we are much more apt to take care of our nutritional needs, our natural vitamins and supplements. Here is to YOUR health

Natural Vitamins and Memory

Published by Tana Hamiter – Goes Green Mentor

I will apply dietetic measures for the benefit of the sick according to my ability and judgment; I will keep them from harm and injustice; “Above all; I will do no harm.” Oath of Hippocrates

How does nutrition affect our memory? Could the use of natural vitamins help with the normal aging process? Yes, I believe they do and the scientific reports back it up.

If you are reading this article then probably you are concerned about your own memory or that of a family member or friend. Do you or they experience any of the following on a fairly regular basis?

For example: having trouble learning new things, losing train of thought, drawing a mental ‘blank’, forgetting names or details, misplacing things, not recognizing friends and neighbors, etc.

Now we all do these things sometimes, especially when we are tired or trying to multitask, eating a lot of junk food or coffee, or being distracted by other situations.

As a Shaklee Distributor we have access to a wealth of health and wellness information about natural vitamins and science to back it up. It is almost impossible to eat the foods that we need to get natural vitamins into our system at a level that will do the job.

Adequate Protein, healthy food choices and the proper assortment of Natural Vitamins will not only help with Memory but with overall health. CLICK on Memory and then click on the pdf file that says Memory Primer. Excellent Article and you can print it out if you would like.

Good nutrition and an active life style is something we can do something about. We can do it NOW or when we are in trouble. I think I’ll choose now!

Natural Vitamins and the Foods that also Support our Health - Acidophilus

By Tana Hamiter – Goes Green Mentor

I will apply dietetic measures for the benefit of the sick according to my ability and judgment; I will keep them from harm and injustice; “Above all; I will do no harm.” Oath of Hippocrates Most of us have heard of Acidophilus and reach for a good natural yogurt when we are looking for a food group. But did you know it is also in Kombucha, Kinchi, Kefir (my favorite) and most other fermented foods.

Natural Vitamins in the supplements are necessary to augment our nutrition.

Human digestion is helped with a number of bacteria that are called acidophilus. . These bacteria include L. acidophilus, L. casei, L. bulgaricus, among others. Lactobacillus acidophilus is one of the bacteria found in these mixtures, but the term acidophilus usually refers to a combination of L. acidophilus with other beneficial bacteria.

Acidophilus is a natural antibiotic, it produces B natural vitamins, improves digestion, and is believed to reduce the risk of colon cancer. When you take Antibiotics it destroys it and that is why you need a probiotic supplement whenever you use an antibiotic. Natural Vitamins will help bring your gutt back to health.

We have billions of bacteria living in our intestines. Looking at your health, some of them build your health while others tear it down. One of the most important bacteria in the beneficial category is Lactobacillus acidophilus.

Acidophilus is touted for its health benefits, some of which have been known about for thousands of years. The bacteria is found naturally throughout the human body, and most likely made its way into a food long ago, beginning a cycle of natural fermentation which people eventually learned to artificially duplicate. Business Opportunity - How to Manage Your Biz

Friday, July 11, 2008
How do you manage your home based business?

Published by Tana Hamiterv- Goes Green Mentor

When you manage your home based business you must realize it requires wearing many hats. Learning to optimize every aspect of your home life and business, using the right balance of new technologies and yet, some of the good old-fashioned business sense.

Many businesses promise Instant Income Opportunity … well don’t believe that. When they say easy, no work, no time needed. Big money fast! You've probably heard those home based business success claims? Like "Make Money Fast", "Fire your Boss in 30 days", or "Retire in 12 months", etc. Don’t walk … RUN!.

A true income opportunity like any business takes planning and consistent education, willingness to work when you need to because there is no boss or alarm clock dragging you out of bed.

I don't mean to burst bubbles, but the fact of the matter is that you must be prepared for the long haul in a home business. Set your goals beyond just next month or even next year and plan to build your business over time. Success in business usually involves time and consistency. So don't believe the "Get Rich Quick" hype, but at the same time, don't get discouraged because you aren't as far along as you would like. Keep reaching! [Read More!]

34 million Americans are at Risk for developing Osteoporosis and Ten Million Americans already have osteoporosis. That’s a shocking number to be sure but what can you do about it. Well, the first thing is education on what to do to prevent osteoporosis and to improve your bone health if you or a family member already have it.

Vitamin D is essential for good bone health. CLICK Bone Health Study for a report that you can print or just read.

And most people realize that calcium is very important. What kinds of foods should we look to: pure Cod liver oil, Salmon, Mackerel, Tuna Fish, Sardines, Milk with Vitamin D fortified, egg whole, liver and Swiss Cheese are some the common foods. It’s easy to see how so many people miss the mark nutritionally. You can easily see why Natural Vitamins are so very important to our over all health plan. [Read More!]

Water is Essential for Life

It covers 71% of the earth's surface and makes up 65 % of our bodies. Everyone wants clean water-- to drink, for recreation, and just to enjoy looking at. If water becomes polluted, it loses its value to us economically and aesthetically, and can become a threat to our health and to the survival of the fish living in it and the wildlife that depends on it.

Two million people, most of them children, die annually due to preventable waterborne diseases. Millions more suffer from stunted growth and development. It's time for a dramatic change — a revolution that will make potable water available, affordable, and accessible more rapidly, and on a wider scale than has been possible before.

Although most of us reading this blog won’t die of contaminated water, it is essential for quality health. Poor water over the years effects our health on a molecular level.

“I'm dying of thirst!" (or is it "I'm loosing my health due to the water I'm drinking)

Well. We just might. It sounds so simple. H20. Two parts hydrogen, one part oxygen. But this element, better known as water, is the most essential, next to air, to our survival. Water truly is everywhere, still most take it for granted.

Water makes up more than two thirds of the weight of the human body, and without it, humans would die in a few days. The human brain is made up of 95% water, blood is 82% and lungs 90%. A mere 2% drop in our body's water supply can trigger signs of dehydration: fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on smaller print, such as a computer screen. (Are you having trouble reading this? Drink up!) Mild dehydration is also one of the most common causes of daytime fatigue. An estimated seventy-five percent of Americans have mild, chronic dehydration. Pretty scary statistic for a developed country, where water is readily available through the tap or bottle.

Water is important to the mechanics of the human body. The body cannot work without it, just as a car cannot run without gas and oil. In fact, all the cell and organ functions made up in our entire anatomy and physiology depend on water for their functioning.

• Water serves as a lubricant
• Water forms the base for saliva
• Water forms the fluids that surround the joints
• Water regulates the body temperature, as the cooling and heating is distributed through perspiration
• Water helps to alleviate constipation by moving food through the intestinal tract and thereby eliminating waste - the best detox agent
• Regulates metabolism

It’s time we all had pure water in our homes and available where ever we travel. Now that we know so much more of the importance for ourselves and our families. Here is information on our Goes Green Water Systems. Every home will be safer with pure water. Mine is.

Eating on the Run – A Disaster Plan

Do you ever find yourself eating on the run? Or swinging though a fast food joint in your car because you think your starving (probably stress eating but that is another subject), or working on dropping a few pounds but wanting a quick snack? Of course you do!

And when grandkids hit the house having some high quality nutritional snacks are a must with our busy life style. I keep in the house, snacks for myself and hubby and any drop in grandkids; prepared raw vegetables with a low calorie/high protein dip, fresh fruit, whole grain crackers with hummus and some of the meal-in –a Bar (see announcement below).

In my car I’ve a small box behind the passenger seat with my snacks so I’m not tempted to do the drive through mania: the ever present water bottle (all reusable of course), small v8 juice, diet drink, meal protein drinks, meal-in-a-Bar and some raw nuts for protein. These are things that won’t spoil in heat or cold. These ideas help me stay on track nutritionally and weight wise.

PLEASANTON, Calif., Feb. 19 /PRNewswire/ — Shaklee Distributers now have available the number one natural nutrition company in the U.S. and pioneer of one of the first green household cleaners, introduced three new tasty food products to its Inch Loss Plan line — Meal-in-a-Bars in two delicious flavors and the delectable new meal replacement, Strawberry Shake Mix. Meal-in-a-Bars are crunchy, satisfying and complete on-the-go meal replacements and are available in two new flavors — Berry Almond Crunch and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip. The Berry Almond Crunch Meal-in-a-Bar marries tangy fruit flavor with rich nutty almonds while the Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip is a divine dose of decadent dark chocolate chips, paired with roasted peanuts and real peanut butter. Both bars are packed with 20 grams of high quality soy protein, enhanced with leucine to help preserve muscle while on a weight loss program. Each bar contains just 260 - 270 calories, depending on flavor, and is high in fiber with six grams of dietary fiber. Both Meal-in-a-Bars are low glycemic and kosher certified. As with all products, these bars contain no artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners and of course, no trans fats.

About the Personal Care Products Industry

Every day, millions of consumers around the world rely on personal care products to live better, healthier lives. From moisturizers, lipsticks and fragrances to sunscreens, soaps and anti-cavity toothpastes, these products are essential to today’s consumer lifestyles. The personal care products industry is a global industry with more than $250 billion in annual retail sales.

Why be Concerned?

Everyone uses cosmetics and personal care products. They include all the products you put on your body, such as hair color, shampoo, hand soap, deodorant, suntan lotion, and perfume, not just makeup. Cosmetics contain hundreds of different ingredients. Some can cause serious health effects such as cancer or reproductive problems. Government regulation of cosmetics is virtually non-existent. No safety testing of cosmetics is required, and only nine chemicals are prohibited or highly restricted.

We've applied 50 years of scientific nutrition research to develop the most advanced therapeutic skincare system around.

It turns out that the same nutrients that help keep you healthy on the inside also play a huge role on how you look on the outside. So it should come as no surprise that the answer to amazing skin comes not from a cosmetics company but from the foremost natural nutrition company.

Health Sciences is an essential resource for providing Shaklee Distributors with information on the benefits, quality and efficacy of our Goes Green products. This group also plays a crucial leadership role in developing the scientific rationale for the ingredient mix in all nutrition products. This includes formulating correct dosage levels for safety and efficacy. Research findings, often supported by published clinical trials, are thoroughly discussed among R&D, product marketing and legal staff so there is confidence that the final product meets or exceeds the industry's standards of Current Good Manufacturing Practice as well as efficacy targets. Our Scientific Advisory Board offers additional expertise in nutrition, biochemistry, herbal medicine, cardiovascular health, and sports medicine.

You can always trust that the care, scientific research and most up to date information is at the for front of our Personal Care Products.

Green Tea – Nutritional Supplement Awareness

We are all hearing in the news, health magazine and just the plain old grape vine about Green Tea. What is all the fuss about! I’ve been drinking all kinds of herbal teas since the 60’s but somehow the thought of Green Tea was a bit to ‘healthy’ for me (my term for it must be really good for me, yuck!)

Well, surprise, it’s great and I’ve got a pitcher going in the refrigerator all the time or the tea pot in the winter months.

Are you days a bit crazy, drag yourself out of bed to an alarm clock, sluggishly head for the ‘coffee’ or sweet roll. Got a day absolutely full, with the never ending ‘must do’ list: bet work, fight traffic, lunch hour meeting over coffee, snacks midday, run to meet the kids and get them from soccer, do all the errands, groceries and arrive home for all the evening demands. Well, then you need a healthy picker upper and one that is great for fighting fatigue.

Obviously cutting back on what your attempting to do in the day (the impossible) and slowing down, getting some exercise; even stopping to take 3 or 4 nice deep breaths will help. But our bodies need more.

Is there a natural concentrated source of herbal ingredients and antioxidants to support your body’s natural energy? YES… Green Energy!.

Here is more information on Green Tea history and about its sister teas. Google search is so great for research on this type of thing. [Read More!]

Omega 3 Fatty Acids Have Huge Benefits for Heart Health

Tuesday, July 01, 2008
The study of heart disease, including cholesterol and fats has been ongoing for many, many years. Scientists have learned quite a bit and I'm sure there is much ahead to learn. For now, we can take the science and research that is available to us, and plug it in to our own lives so that we can have better heart health. Omega 3 fatty acids are important because they are the health fats that our bodies need.

The problem is that is hard to consume enough of these through our food, on a daily basis, to make a difference in building good heart health.

The reason you hear so many folks supplementing their diets with Omega 3's is that this is a great way to get enough each day. An important thing to keep in mind is that there are differences in quality and ingredients across brands. Here is a video that explains some benefits of this brand:

Omega-3 fatty acids. have been proven to reduce the risk of plaque formation, and they also stimulate prostaglandin formation. Prostaglandins are made in all cells in the body and have an effect over important body processes. Reproduction, fertility, inflammation, and immunity are controlled by prostaglandins.

Also important is how the prostaglandins help prevent overproduction of a substance in the body that promotes clotting. Helping to prevent clotting around the narrowed arteries near the heart can help prevent heart attacks. You can see how essential prostaglandins are to good health.

Other benefits of Essential Omega 3's include: reduces triglycerides and the bad (LDL) cholesterol, raises the good (HDL) cholesterol, lowers high blood pressure, reduces risk of blood clotting, reduces inflammation, helps autoimmune disease, and helps with morning stiffness that challenges arthritis sufferers.

Any questions about Omega 3's or any Shaklee Independent Distributor products, don't hesitate to contact me.
