Marketing Mindset: Sowing the Seed

January 28, 2007
Here's a thought to get your day focused....

Frequently in my Barefoot Biz we relate our business building actions to sowing or planting seed.  This is an accurate analogy because we are building relationships with people and that is not often an automatic process.  Sometimes we get immediate results and sometimes we need to be patient and consistent to enjoy the fruits of our harvest.
I was reading The Parable of the Sower a few days ago in Mark and came across this enlightening commentary that I thought might help us all keep our perspective on growing our organization.

"I discovered a long time ago that when I became impatient, frustrated, and fretful it was because I tried to make something happen that only God could make happen....
Sometimes when we pray and believe for a breakthrough, it seems like nothing happens.  If we really want to know how to act during those times, we can receive much help from the story of the patient farmer Jesus spoke of in Mark 4:26-28.
The farmer sows his seed in the ground and then goes on his way, sleeping and rising.  Eventually, the ground brings forth its yield on its own.  The farmer does not know how the harvest will come or exactly when it will come, but his job is to get up in the morning, do his work, and go to bed at nightHe keeps up his patient vigil over the seed he has sown until he receives the harvest....
A farmer never knows exactly when his crop will come in.  He just keeps sleeping and rising, does what he can to enrich his soil and cultivate his crops, but leaves the rest in the hands of the Creator.  Let me encourage you to do likewise."

I was reminded by these words, that we have several distinct responsibilities if we want to see our business mature into a harvest of people. It is our job to get up every day and continue to sow more seed, enrich the soil, and cultivate the crops.

Marketing Strategies: Yahoo's Sponsored Search simplifies Pay-Per-Click advertising.

January 23, 2007

There's no quicker solution than pay-per-click search-engine advertising to boost the number of visitors to your e-commerce Web site. But which PPC service should you use?

Yahoo's upgraded Sponsored Search service, code-named Panama, is the biggest improvement in years to the company's PPC advertising service. Panama makes Yahoo Sponsored Search a strong contender to Google's AdWords, Panama is faster and easier to use than AdWords in some areas, such as reporting, though I do have some minor concerns.

Marketing Strategies: Defining your Target Market

January 16, 2007

As  internet gets more advanced we will no longer be able to use the blanket apporoach if we want to be successful on the internet. We must narrow our target market down and focus on finding exactly where our customers hang out.  For instance if you have  products for kids you might consider focusing on your message being seen on http://kids.quintura.com/

If you have a product or service that caters to the college crowd you would probably want to look into www.facebook.com then you can even refine your target market to certain universities. The more you can focus on exactly who your customers are the better results you will have.

A new search engine that is targeted just for th 50+ crowd is www.cranky.com Now I'm not saying give up on the big boys such as Google, Yahoo, or MSN... just don't discount the possibilities of the very targeted markets.

Speaking of the "Big Boys" Yahoo now has a search engine targeted just on business customers in China.  Read more about this and other the business news in China at www.chinaview.cn

Stay tuned to for the release of my new program called "A Franchise Online" I'll be going into great detail defining your target market.

Marketing Mindset: A Funny Video

January 10, 2007

How is your mindset today?

When I watched this funny video it reminded me of how we sometimes panic when there is really no need to. The mindset plays such a crucial role in the success or failure of our business. When you watch this funny video be reminded that it's how you react to a situation that matters.

Take time out of your busy day to smile and laugh a little IT"S OK!

have fun in your business            Funny Video LINK

Don't forget I'll be training on Blogs and RSS feeds later this morning in the Veretekk Gold Conference Room. Even if you are a newbie to online marketing learning the (simple to set up and use) blogfather site is a good place to start getting your business seen on the net.

Veretekk Marketing: The Bloggers Dream

January 05, 2007

The guys over at Veretekk have been buring the midnight oil. This morning early I got a message from Mike Darling.

Here was his message to me:

Cindy - check the RSS link in COMMUNICATION as well as the new BlogFather portal in TRAFFIC PORTALS. Both are live. Let me know if you find bugs. We'll be announcing via Bully Pulpit tomorrow, but feel free to start talking if you want.

For someone like me this is HUGE.... It's now  so easy for a marketing newbie to go in and start their own RSS feed and for me... I can just write til my hearts content. Heck I started 3 new blogs just this morning in less than 20 minutes!  I love this.

I can remember when I was working in the employment and training field they started what they called "One Stop Shop"  it was one place unemployed people could go to get all the services they needed to re-enter the workforce. Well this is exactly what Veretekk is starting to become. "A One Stop Shop" for marketing online... and the really cool part is there is no extra cost involved as a gold member you have all these extra features.

Start your own blog today: http://barefoot.blogfather.net

Here are the links to the blogs I started this morning:

Barefoot Luxury Vacations
Vacation Resort Spots for people who want to be pampered

Barefoot Secrets of the Rich and Famous
Home Business Strategies for the Aspiring Entrepreneurs

Barefoot News and Reviews
VereTrainer Cindy McAsey gives her perspective

Ok is anyone seeing a pattern here? Yep you got it every blog has my brand on it. So... has anyone been working on that image or brand for their business yet? This is really important! Even though I have blogs all over the internet every last one of them has my brand on it in some way. The Veretekk blogs at this time are pretty plain.. but that is a good thing for a new person. The more bells and whistles there are the more confusing. So if you have been thinking about starting a blog and got caught up in the logistics. Start with the BlogFather!

Marketing Strategies: Great things coming... Are you Prepared?

January 04, 2007

As I look into my crystal ball I see so many great things coming our way in the new year. Have you heard about Veretekk giving us the ability to publish our own RSS feeds right from our portal control panel. Wow this just blows me away. This will make training new people and getting them up to speed on marketing on the net so much easier.

Also coming your way will be "A Franchise Online" this will be a step by step approach how I market online using tools such as Veretekk. This will be perfect for people who are still stumbling over marketing techniques and are coming up short from making a profit.

With so many great new things in the works... there one thing you can do to prepare if you haven't done so already... That is build a bio or who is page. This can be done easily on a free-page.net site or in blogger. SO it doesn't cost you anything!! Just your time. This isn't something anyone else can do for you, because it's about you and you know yourself better than anyone else.

Who is or Bio sites are great Marketing Tools. Customers love to find out more about you.  I'll bet you've been asked "How did you get into this business?" and "What did you do
before you did this?"

Give people the answers to these questions in your own Who is site .  Your bio, or short biography, gives people a quick taste of who you are, how you got where you are today, what makes you love what you do, and -- MOST IMPORTANT -- why you can help customers.

Take a look at my "who is" site www.cindymcasey.com

If you figured this site is designed to sell people on my ability to help them, you're right.  It is written so it builds the reader's confidence that I'm qualified, have more skills than my competitors, and I'm eager to work with customers. Really it works much like a resmue with a twist.

If you haven't written your who is page, start writing now. It only needs to be a few paragraphs... you can always add to it as you feel the need.  Tell the best parts of your story, the parts people are always interested in.  Show how your history can help the customer because you're knowledgeable, skilled, friendly, accessible, passionate, fired up, or backed by big names the customer knows.

Making some facts about your past available to customers and prospects builds confidence and trust.  Sales will follow. Remember people buy from people and this is a great way for people to get to know you.

Marketing Strategies: Fresh Marketing Ideas for 2007

January 03, 2007

As we look forward to a fresh new year lots of times it's time to take
a second look at the marketing strategies in our business and re align our focus.
Here are some fresh marketing strategies to get your creative juices flowing.

Write a Personal Letter

Personal letters are very powerful.  Get a big stack of mail from
the letter carrier and I'll bet you open the hand-addresses
letter from a friend first.  We often talk about making web site
copy and newspaper ads carry the power of a letter.  Why not
market your business by simply writing a personal letter?

Keep your letter to a single page.

Make paragraphs short.  I like three line paragraphs, but five or
six lines per paragraph is also fine.  Longer paragraphs make
your copy look dense and a long read to someone who is in a
hurry.

CAPITALS are good for a sales letter, but keep
them out of your personal letter.

Sign your letter in a different color ink than the color it is
printed in.  Include a P.S.  Sixty percent of readers read the
P.S. before they read the rest of the letter
.  Have the P.S.
restate your offer, your time limit, or urge the reader to call
or email you.

Hand address your envelope and use a regular first class stamp.

Refine Your Marketing Budget for The First Quarter

After a few years, most businesses establish a set formula for
determining their marketing budget, usually a fixed percentage of
revenue. But when economic times get tough, it's time to make a
few alterations.

The mistake businesses make is to simply cut the marketing budget
when they experience a downturn in revenue. Big no, no. In an
effort to protect their bottom line, they are more likely to
bottom out.

Instead of cutting your marketing budget, try making a few
refinements:

1. Concentrate on past and current customers. They are more
likely to purchase from you, even during difficult economic
times. Mail to them more often, call them more often and let them
know about special promotions more often.

2. Instead of cutting your marketing budget, refine your
marketing message. Customers will be thinking of how they can get
more for less, so focus on the value rather than the low price.
Keep your prices the same and use special promotions
intermittently.

3. Take a closer look at who your real prospects are. Instead of
mass mailing, focus on a more targeted audience. Profile your
prospects and find those who have similarities to your past
customers. This technique will save you money and elicit a higher
response rate.
