Douglas E. Welch is a computer consultant and freelance writer from Van Nuys, California. His current column, Career Opportunities: The High-Tech Career Handbook, has appeared in ComputorEdge Magazine in San Diego, California and Colorado Springs, Colorado for over 8 years. In September 2004, Douglas created a twice-weekly podcast of his columns, drawing on new columns and those from his archives. Douglas' writing has also appeared in The Los Angeles Times, Network World, Infoworld, Wired Magazine, MacWorld and others. Career Opportunities explores the ins and outs of a high-tech career, whether listeners are just starting a high-tech career or looking to improve their current career -- whether they are working in a corporate environment or as a freelance consultant. Each show runs 5-6 minutes. Each podcast, a text version of each show, and a complete archive of all 8 years of past columns are available on the web site. Career-Op appears each Tuesday and Friday. The Friday shows are a newly published column, while the Tuesday shows draw on column from the archives.
