Here is an updated listing of Podcasting Directories

Go to http://www.masternewmedia.org/news/2005/05/20/where_to_submit_your_podcasts.htm to see them all as of January 26, 2006. As you can see, the list continues to grow. Even our own Family Friendly Podcasts Directory is listed there.

What's Different About Family Friendly Podcasts

What they don't mention is that Family Friendly Podcasts places the latest podcasts submitted at the top of the list, and that our Directory is also a podcast that anyone can subscribe to. So if you want to keep up with the latest family friendly podcasts, just subscribe to the Directory's feed

http://quikonnex.com/channel/subscribe/eMediaTouch-1stPodLatest/2234l

and you'll receive a sample of each newly submitted podcast to listen to.

Family Friendly Podcasts also mean Business Safe Podcasts

There are good reasons to keep your podcasts clean for everyone. Listening to them at the office is one. Feeling secure that your kids won't overhear something inappropriate while you're playing it in the car is another. Unless you are going for the "Howard Stern" shock effect, professional and clean is the most professional way to create a podcast.

If you have any questions about podcasting and what it is...

The following is an excerpt from an article from Scotsman.com that shows the power of podcasting to create a unique connection between podcaster and listener.

Note the same ingredient in their successful podcast as reality shows - behind the scenes looks at famous (or semi-famous) people. If people do business with people they trust and like, what better way to open up to them than podcasting (either video or audio)?
"Amplifico's experiments in podcasting (downloadable radio shows) have got their punchy, memorable songs played, Maciocia estimates, on around 100 radio stations worldwide. Like the Arctic Monkeys they are not shy about giving MP3s away free, but have sold plenty too - undoubtedly helped by the fact that their website www.amplifico.net is both painstakingly assembled and very appealing. Maciocia is a voracious blogger (every passing hour of her week with Tunstall is documented); elsewhere is everything from tour diaries to video footage of Amplifico in the studio, playing a gig in Asda of all places, and guitarist Ross Kilgour dancing in a car park.

This aspect of the band - schoolfriends Maciocia, Kilgour, bassist Brett Allan and drummer Dave Brunton - has proved particularly popular. "I know that when we put a podcast up there's going to be at least 300 people listening that day," says Maciocia. "It's amazing how people seem so interested in having an insight into the band. I was in a sandwich shop the other day and the girl there said, 'I'm loving your blog just now.' We had this one comment; I don't know whether this is good or bad, but it said, 'I love listening to your podcast, but I don't know if I like your music yet.' I thought that was fascinating. It's shortening the gap between audience and band. They seem to be loving it, and it's just us sitting around talking about the price of cheese in Tesco. I guess they can relate to it."

Podcasting's not just for kids anymore...

The BBC has pronounced its blessing over podcasting, and MTV is creating a separate division within it's company to cover podcasting and other support for mobile devices. Businesses are recognizing the power of podcasting, and are now scrambling to "get with the program".

Podcasting is just as viable for the solopreneur and small business.

Don't be put off by the large companies and networks that are jumping into the water. You can do the same things that they are - you just have to make sure that you do it with quality. Content is content - and everyone is still looking for new, creative shows - so give them something to which they'll want to return again and again.

To learn more about podcasting, and network with other business owners who are podcasting, I invite you to join the Podcaster Central Network on Ryze. It's completely free to sign up.

Now that podcasting is hitting the beginning of it's stride, corporations and personalities are using it, and they are nothing like the raw recordings that started the fad.

We knew this day would come - that as more people and businesses entered the foray, that competition would increase among podcasts and podcasters. Excellence in quality as well as content is becoming increasingly required in order to retain podcast listeners.

Libsyn and Kiptronic team up together to combine their technologies for podcasters.

I love to see like-minded companies working together and complementing each other. Libsyn placed themselves perfectly when podcasting started, and now Kiptronic is filling another gap.

If Libsyn has 2600 subscribers, even just at $5 a month, that's not too bad at all!

There are some people that will swear by Libsyn, and it seems that a lot of people are taking advantage of their services. This was a great business decision for the founders, that's for sure.

My question is, though, are you excited about advertising for someone else when you are podcasting for your own business?

Somehow, that just doesn't sit right for me. I'm not podcasting in order to make sponsorship money - I'm podcasting to build the brand for myself and my businesses. Maybe I'm the only one that feels that way - I may be missing a really big point here.

Let me know what you think about advertising for others in your business podcast.

If you had a very popular sponsor that sold nothing that you offered, maybe that would be fantastic. Maybe I'm thinking too small. My other question is, how many people really go to a podcast's website? I would think, only those that are listening online instead of downloading, or those that are leaving comments.

I'm just sharing my fuzziness about my feelings on this subject.

If you have any ideas and can clear up this for me, let me know. I'm probably being too single minded about the purpose of business podcasting. I'm anxious to hear what you have to say about that.

In today's business podcast, we will discover how podcasting can revolutionize your business and your customers!

Join me today as I interview Paige Eissinger of 2 Smart Chix, podcaster of View from the Coop and assistant producer of Jammin' With Slam on Cool Cast radio. Paige, a web designer and talk-show host, is a self-described podcasting addict now. She can't get enough of it (as you'll hear in the podcast).

There are several great reasons for businesses to podcast...

  • Your network expands as your meet other podcasters, and podcast listeners. You interview them, they interview you, you exchange podcasting tips and tools and everyone benefits.
  • You give potential clients an opportunity to "take you with them" and learn about you "on the go". They aren't chained to a radio and/or a time frame. They can download you and listen to you in the car, on a walk, wherever they choose. And they can listen to you "hands free".
  • Present and future customers will be more predisposed to believe you are an expert in your field, and treat you as such. (Listen to the story about a client of an entrepreneur whose whole outlook changed after listening to the entrepreneur's podcast!)
  • Your target market comes looking for you - not the other way around! If someone responds better to audio, they will go the route of podcasting. And when they want information, they will come to you if you offer what they need.
  • You can't always get across your passion for your subject solely with written words. People get excited about a subject when you are excited about it, and your voice is the most effective tool for igniting that passion in others.
  • So sit back (or run, or drive, or whatever you're doing while you are listening to this!) and enjoy!

And if you would like to know more about how to create a podcast for your business, or as a hobby, and want to find the most inexpensive tools available, contact me via the QMTP message form at http://www.PodcasterCentral.com, or go to http://www.1stPod.com to review our services, classes and resources.

    Podcasting is On The Move!
    Monday, January 23, 2006

    Podcasting is definitely growing!

The expectations of it's continued growth is high, making it a great marketing tool for businesses. It is growing at a much faster rate than blogging did, and the new found love for ipods is fostering it!

People purchase iPods for music, but discover Podcasts along the way.

I believe that podcasting is secondary for iPod owners, but they find their way to podcasting eventually. First it is intrigue, then it is the delight in controlling their own "radio" content. Then it is a true loyalty to a program that keeps their attention.

iTunes has done much for the propogation of podcasting.

That is because iTunes owners will subscribe to iTunes upon registration, and that makes them perfect candidates for finding new podcasts. However, since their first love is music, I believe that the competition among podcasts to capture and keep an audience will demand excellence in their content and production.

Some Podcast Directories will not accept phone recorded podcasts.

They consider those podcasts substandard. So if you're just podcasting for a hobby, it's fine. But for business podcasts, you've got to raise the bar and record on your own computer for the best quality of sound.

If you have any questions about how to create a podcast, please feel free to contact me.

You can even join the Ryze Podcaster Central Network and network with other podcasters. You never know what you will learn!
