In this podcast, we speed-brainstorm our way through 4 great business articles and ideas.
I finally gave in and bought myself something - a hammock! I've been wanting one forever, and in a fit of passion, purchased one. Not just anyone, but the nicest one (I don't do things in a small way...hehehe). Well, I did skimp on the accessories (knock-offs), but the hammock is the real deal. What does this have to do with Brain Storm! and business news?
I've been reading my backlog of business news magazines, and I'm trying to get us up to speed!
Today we cover 4 things:
The use of forums as the source of customer service, and where to get free forum software.
If you're interested in finding a Chinese import/export contact, there's a very trusted source that can do it for only $50!
Find out what Venture Capitals have an appetite for...it's bigger than you think!
Building a Brand with More Creativity than Cash
Will it be you? There's a contest in today's business podcast as well. I said the first person to complete the task would get the prize, but I just found out I can give away 2! So first two respondents will be the lucky winners.
On The Air - Free Media Tips, by BJ Parker is this week's digital business book, free for you to download. Learn how to become the word on the street.
Until next time, this is Penny Haynes, reminding you to keep on brainstorming!
Ever heard, "Be careful what you wish for - you just may get it"?
Today, Digital Business Books' talks with Paula Langguth-Ryan, a contemporary prosperity advisor to Olympic athletes, Broadway Artists, churches and entrepreneurs. We discuss intentions, what we do with them, and their effect on our lives. We also discuss how generosity and giving in both life and business inevitably lead to success and prosperity.
What are Supercharged Intentions, and what do they have to do with business?
Paula and I share real life examples of how our expectations and intentions affect our every day lives. She also explains the importance of specifying your intentions. For example, you really don't just want to make a sale - you want to attract the right and perfect customer.
Sometimes riches come from unexpected sources.
Paula also retells stories of people setting financial goals for themselves, and reaching them, but not in the manner they had formerly expected. We need to be open to any area where prosperity can touch us, even in business.
DigBizBooks is offering Paula's 75 minute audio book for immediate download, "How to Create Supercharged Intentions that Effortlessly Manifest", with 2 bonus books and a free coaching session for only $15.95.
The bonuses include "Heal Your Relationship With Money" e-book, "Seven Spiritual Rules of Order for Business Professionals", and a 20-minute Performance-Enhancing Prosperity Coaching Session with Paula Langguth-Ryan. You can learn how to attract success and prosperity in your business and personal life.
I also invite you all to join me at a Podcasting Marketing Seminar on Wednesday, September 28th, 2pm EST.
I'm going to be teaching what's going on in podcasting, and how it can work for entrepreneurs and their businesses. Register here for the podcasting seminar. I hope to see you there.
P.S. Don't forget your free business books, every week, at Digital Business Books.
Many people hold misconceptions about working at home, and Dan Reinhold's "The WAHumor Way To Work At Home: Reality Check, Please!" shows you the realities you need to consider before you quit your day job.
Today, our guest, Dan Reinhold, shares important information that you need to know if you are considering working from home. There are scams to avoid, and predators to be on the lookout for - not to mention the basic misconceptions that can really knock you down after you start your new business.
PLEASE, do yourself (and us) a favor and DO SOMETHING YOU LOVE!
One of the things we discuss is how doing something you love (or doing something you despise) will greatly affect your motivation - something you need a LOT of when you start a business. Another point we deal with is how 97% of businesses crash and burn within three (3) months, and how to avoid being a part of those statistics.
Our complimentary Business Book of the Week is an excerpt from Dan's Book, called "Where Do YOU Fit?".
Help yourself to it on the Digital Business Books DigBizBooks.com site under Special Offers. And once you've prepared yourself for the realities of working at home, I encourage you to start researching and planning for ways you can reach your goals. If you've learned anything through today's program, please share it with us on the http://www.BrainStorm-Podcast.com site.

Thanks for the response, Louie. I never thought of putting it like that (of course, I was never an athlete!), but I WAS a musician, and I would spend countless hours working on writing songs and playing and singing. I don't know if it would be easier on me if any of my family members had such a passion as you and I do for business and technology. But then again, I always hung around people who had similar passions, or were at least passionate about SOMETHING. But learning to balance with family has been the hardest thing.
Thanks for sharing - and thanks for the encouragement as well!
I just finished listening to the latest Brain Storm and I can definitely
empathise with your experiences in balancing work, business, and family
life.
The best analogy that I used to explain my passionate obsession with
learning about business and technology was that of the champion
sportsperson. In my younger years I was a champion athelete and I got there
by training 3-4 hours nearly everyday for many years. I choose to achieve
excellence in my sport and to be the best I could be in my sport. It
allowed me to build my self confidence and commitment to achieve by
continually testing, learning, and improving my abilities until I was
satisfied with my level of success.
The lessons I leanered from my pursuit of excellence in sport became part of
my "make-up". Those youthful years were extremely positive character
building years for me. I established solid foundations of confidence that
allowed me to succeed in my professional career later on. So when my family say to me "are you on that computer again" or "are you reading more books again" I simply say "champions become champions because they train long and
hard and I am in training to be a champion". While my wife understands and
accepts this, my young children are not mature enough to understand this
yet, so I make sure that we have time together to play and do things
regularly. My wife and I also plan monthly trips away for just the two of
us so that we can build on our relationship. All this requires planning,
timing, flexibility, and the ability to say "no" to a lot of other "nice to
do" things. It's not always a smooth ride, but we have managed to balance
things on the whole. It isn't easy but we all enjoy the success that comes
from the commitment and effort we put in.
Look forward to sharing some more experiences.

The advertising playing field is about to be leveled.
Join me today, along with Louis Lambrianidis, a Digital Business Books ( DigBizBooks.com) Brain Storm! subscriber/listener with a lifetime of experience with technology, management, advertising and more, as we study internet advertising. Today we tackle the way that Yahoo is totally transforming the way that major corporations around the world are spending their advertising dollars, and how you can advertise like the big boys.
Learn the difference between targeted, search-engine advertising and brand advertising. Louis does a great job explaining what it is, and why you should use it. We discuss how and when to use each type of advertising, and also how much money you can get away with spending to check out your market.
Major corporations are moving the majority of their money into internet advertising, but major media firms are nervous about moving into that realm. So learn what the corporations now know, what the return is on their money, and how to work with clients that are a little hesitant about moving into internet advertising. If you have any comments or suggestions of your own, please share them on the Brain Storm! blog, or call them into the recording line.
And remember about our free Digital Business Book of the week at http://www.DigBizBooks.com.

Thanks, Ponn - as always, you are the Queen of Networking, and we agree that there is absolutely no business apart from honest, sincere networking. I'm not talking about the kind you do just to do business, but truly investing your time and concern in others. I'm reading a book called "Designated for Success", and it also underscores the need for sincere networking - not just the kind where you reach out when you need help. People need to be able to know and trust you, and networking is how you can do it! <smile>
