My Story Radio is a great podcast with real people talking about real-life issues in Christianity. It's purpose is to find people who will share about recent faith building experiences. Meet the hosts, and I'd encourage you to subscribe. They are hoping to add to their lineup a new program where they discuss questions and answers for witnessing - dealing with the hard questions and providing answers for teens and new believers. If you're interested in participating in this live recorded event, please contact Tom McComb - his email address is listed in the Read More section...

Remember, if you'd like some more faith building audios, we invite you to visit www.EncouragingAudiobooks.com, where we have great inspirational and humorous Christian audio books, and a link to the entire bible on audio - for FREE. We are always looking for more multi-media content, so if you would like to create a Christian-based audio book, ebook or video presentation and offer it on the Encouraging Audiobooks site, please contact me at pennyhaynes AT encouragingaudiobooks DOT com. We can help you create it, if you don't know how.

Lastly, if you would like to win the world for Christ, and are interested in doing it via podcasting, as Tom and Scott are trying to do, but don't know how, I invite you to come to my free Introduction To Podcasting seminar, which will be held in a Co-Op World audio conference room. I will be telling you about all of the things that you need to create a podcast inexpensively, but professionally. You can go to: http://co-opworld.com/member/50522/?summersizzler to register, see the expo hall and review the schedule. My seminar will be at 9:50 am EST on Saturday morning, June 4th. I'd love to meet with you there.

Then, if you want to learn everything there is to know about podcasting, including recording, editing, mixing with music, uploading, RSS, bandwidth, storage, and more, then you can register for our 5-week "Complete 'Create A Podcast' Handbook Seminar. Participants get a 128 MB MP3 Player/Recorder/Storage key while supplies last (a $70 value), and also a copy of the entire class on CD. Another bonus recently added is a 2-CD set featuring an Introduction to Business Blogging, a $100 value, from RPM Success. Space is limited, and as of today, there are approximately 15 seats left. Classes will be held all 5 Thursdays in June at 9pm EST, and recorded and ready for review by the next morning, so even if you miss a class, you won't miss a thing. Christians - By Carol Wimmer

When I say... "I am a Christian"

I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin'."

I'm whispering "I was lost,

Now I'm found and forgiven."

When I say... "I am a Christian"

I don't speak of this with pride.

I'm confessing that I stumble

and need Christ to be my guide.

When I say... "I am a Christian"

I'm not trying to be strong.

I'm professing that I'm weak

And need His strength to carry on.

When I say... "I am a Christian"

I'm not bragging of success.

I'm admitting I have failed

And need God to clean my mess.

When I say... "I am a Christian"

I'm not claiming to be perfect,

My flaws are far too visible

But, God believes I am worth it.

When I say... "I am a Christian"

I still feel the sting of pain.

I have my share of heartaches

So I call upon His name.

When I say... "I am a Christian"

I'm not holier than thou,

I'm just a simple sinner

Who received God's good grace, somehow!

You can read here about Carol Wimmer being the author, if you want to know for sure. Also check out the link to Wimmer's website, at the bottom of the article, where she explains the poem is now copyrighted by law to her as a result of the mis-attribution to Angelou. http://www.snopes.com/glurg...

yep, it doesn't matter who wrote it first, it may even be possible that God breathed these words to both of them that they may be able to share it with us.

Glory be to God, for he alone can save us, both of the poems are great in themselves, read them and appreciate them equally.

Maya Angelou is only MISTAKENLY credited with this. Her website notes that she did not write this poem.

This is the one by Carol Wimmer. There seems to be a slight difference. I love the words regardless

When I say, “I am a Christian”

When I say, “I am a Christian,” I’m not shouting “I've been saved!”
I’m whispering, “I get lost! That's why I chose this way”

When I say, “I am a Christian,” I don’t speak with human pride
I’m confessing that I stumble - needing God to be my guide

When I say, “I am a Christian” I’m not trying to be strong
I’m professing that I’m weak and pray for strength to carry on

When I say, “I am a Christian,” I’m not bragging of success
I’m admitting that I've failed and cannot ever pay the debt

When I say, “I am a Christian,” I don't think I know it all
I submit to my confusion asking humbly to be taught

When I say, “I am a Christian,” I’m not claiming to be perfect
My flaws are far too visible but God believes I’m worth it

When I say, “I am a Christian,” I still feel the sting of pain
I have my share of heartache which is why I seek His name

When I say, “I am a Christian,” I do not wish to judge
I have no authority -- I only know I’m loved

JH, I, too am grateful for the grace. One of my problems is that I am so action-oriented, and I still have not completely grasped the truth of God's grace. I hesitate to commit myself back to work in the church because I just haven't felt like I deserved it. But when will I realize, down in my soul and spirit, that I will never be good enough, and that God uses the foolish things of this world to confound the wise? And I DEFINITELY feel foolish a lot of the time! <smile>

I'm greateful to whom ever wrote it. The message in this poem speaks volumes of love for Jesus our Saviour, Lord in christ. This poem helped me identify that I am loved even though I may have sinned.

Sorry I did not see these comments earlier! I received this inspirational comment via email from someone else, and took it at face value that it was Maya Angelou. In any case, I am with Vern in that I really am glad for the words, regardless of the author.

I went to look up this poem on-line and discovered it was writen by Carol Wimmer, title "When I say 'I Am A Christian'"
I don't understand why the credit is given to Maya Angelou, did she read it aloud and was mistakenly credited for authorship? There are a few minor changes, but still the same poem.

Dear ksd - you are so right. One thing that I have learned, also, is that I am no longer a sinner saved by grace, I am a saint that sometimes sinned. The grace which has gotten a hold of me is changing me, from the inside out. Who is saving me from this wretched body of death? Praise be to God, through Jesus Christ, our Lord!

The Healing Hand of God

"Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits - who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. " Psalm 103:1-5, NIV.

The past few weeks I've found out that a couple of my Christian sisters now have breast cancer. On top of that, I've met some online sisters in Christ who are battling ongoing illness and are recovering from recent setbacks with their illnesses.
Illness is just once facet of the adversity we face and suffer here on earth. It isn't because God doesn't love us either and desires to see us suffer. Rather, our God is a God of healing and love. Our fallen state (sin) is the reason we suffer. Let me clarify before you think I am suggesting that my sisters in Christ are ill due to their sin. No, that isn't what I'm saying because we all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

I'm saying that due to the fall of man into our sin nature, this world will not be the beautiful, perfect, healthy, complete place God designed for us to have. He does allow different forms of hardship and adversity in our lives to grow us up in Him for His purpose and His glory. I find it interesting that He has all these different women in my life right now and my business is in the holistic care and healing of pets. I use the same approach with my own health which is why it transfers easily over to pet care. I chose pet care because I know it is the vocation God has gifted me with and desires for me for His purpose and glory.

You see, I'm not the healer. I bring the "ingredients" to heal, but the healing comes entirely from God. Not me. God even gives me my passion to share and my desire to learn more about natural healing. So, I'm going to connect the dots here so you'll see where I'm going with this.

God has given me a passion to share healing and wellness with others and their pets. I have a natural affinity with animals which God gifted me with. I ignored that gift for a long time and I always felt like I was lacking, incomplete and it showed in frustration. Through some trials and hardships I ended up back in the pet care industry and with a passion that has been ignited to a roaring fire!

Okay so I'm in the holistic pet care industry which almost always gives folks the idea that I'm into the new age movement and all that goes with that -until I let them know I'm a Christian of course. Prior to becoming a Christian I bought into some of the new age ways.

As God continued to give me a passion to seek out alternative, natural ways to bring healing and wellness to others, to show people how to be proactive in their own wellness and using the same principles to apply to their pet care, I've been surrounded by people and pets who are sick. On top of that, many of them are very much into the new age movement. I can kind of sit here and laugh at that because I believe I went through some of my spiritual and physical struggles just so that when I finally got around to obeying God and His purpose for my life, I'd be able to relate to those who are still into that form of "spirituality" not realizing they are in fact against God. So I could be salt and light. So that God could then use His healing Hands on these lost and hurting souls.

By obeying His will for my life and sharing my passion with others and their pets, God is bringing so many different people into my life to share His healing hands with. While they may think it is my compassion or kindness (that I attribute only to God because I was always a selfish and hard person prior to Jesus coming into my life) I'm just the conduit of His love and healing coming through to all He brings in contact with my life. That also means hurting and ill Christians. That He may touch them with His healing hands and take them deeper into the knowledge, joy and wonder of Him!!

So that when they are healed -we know that some will be healed and others will not and only God knows the reasoning behind that - they too will be able to bring comfort and share with others His healing hands.

Our entire life, when we surrender to God's will, becomes a vessel to serve others to God's everlasting glory!

In His love and healing,
Kim
