KEEPING THE COMMANDMENTS. Part 2.
Will not heaven be well worth a life of obedience to the Word of God, though obedience calls us through storms of persecutions, furnaces of trials, oceans of tribulations, and years of toil and suffering? To Moses the reproaches of Christ were greater treasures than the riches of Egypt, "for he had respect unto the recompense of the reward." Sit quiet for a moment and by a strong eye of faith look away into heaven and see that bright mansion prepared for you. See those jasper walls, those pearly gates, and those golden walks. See the crown of life, the harp of God, and the light of the Lamb. Shall we not bear the trials of life a little longer in patience? Shall we not be watchful to walk in God's ways and obey him, that this rich inheritance may be ours forever? Methinks I can hear a reply coming from the depths of many a sincere, trusting heart, "Yes, I will live in humble obedience to God on earth, that I may be with him forever in that celestial city of light." Atkins is synonomous for low-carb - it's like Kleenex, Xerox - it's a one-word icon that successfully secured 1/2 of the low-carb diet market.
So what went wrong? Why did they file for Chapter 11 protection in August 2005? Why did the originating company of a nationwide craze bite the dust?
Being the first does NOT ensure that you will also be the last.
Atkins may have started the craze, but they won't be around to see the finale. The decline started when larger food manufacturers inevitably followed suit and created low-carb foods (or just repackaged old stuff with new names and claims stamped on them). It didn't help when Dr. Atkins removed himself from the company that produced the products.
Today, we'll study what made Atkins so fabulously famous, what caused its demise, and what we can learn and apply to our own business from this lesson.

I agree! This really let me know that anything is possible if you really want it. Limitations are mainly in the mind, and you never know what you can do until you try. I once saw a Garfield cartoon that has stayed with me through the years. Odie is up in a tree like a cat, and Garfield says, "You never know what you can do if you don't know what you CAN'T do." We believe we *can't* do so many things, but with God's help, we can!

It's a funny thing how life comes around. When I was in high school, I was a Jewish-Atheistic-Buddhist-Hindu-Taoist seeker, and I had just a few friends, most of which were in Chorus with me. One of my friends was named Donna Monetta, kindly nicknamed Monna Donetta by yours truly. We never talked religion - just laughed and sang together.
Well, this year, 23 years after we graduated high school, Donna found me, and we found that our spiritual journeys had much in common, but most importantly, we had given our lives to the Lord.
