The most important thing a Christian can do is refract the light of Christ onto others, so they can see Christ and become more like him.

The May 2005 Issue of Inc. discusses the benefits and pitfalls of pursuing and maintaining ISO Certification.

From a personal standpoint, I have seen ISO pursued by major international corporations, as well as smaller independent businesses. I have seen it pursued as the result of an internal drive for quality and process improvement, and pursued reluctantly as the result of a command from the parent company.

I believe ISO certification is wasted on a company that doesn't truly strive for continued process improvement, and live to achieve the highest quality at the lowest possible cost.

How to Live a Holy Life,
by C. E. Orr

Introduction. Part 2.

We doubt not but there is in the heart of the reader a strong desire to live life as it should be lived. Thank God, you can. You desire your life to be like the fertile oasis, where the weary traveler refreshes himself.

You have seen the rays of light lingering upon the hillside and treetop and gilding the fleecy cloud after the sun had gone down. You desire the beautiful rays of light from your life to linger long after your sun has gone down. You can have it that way. The deeds you do will live after you are gone. They are the footprints. Some one has said that we each day are here building the house we are going to occupy in eternity. If this be true, nothing should concern us so much as how to live. Some men are devoting their time and the power of their intellects to invention; some are studying statesmanship; some are studying the arts, others the sciences; but we have come to learn a little more about how to live. Many are thinking much about how they wish to die, but let us learn how to live. If we live well, we shall die well.

Life will never be the same now.

This week will be a little different for all of us. As I share in the podcast, today was the first day of the rest of my life. I achieved a short term goal for my business, and I experienced it's fulfillment today. So I share a Reader's Digest version of what it took for me to start and build a new business in its first year.

It's a little bit Business, Inspiration and Faith

all wrapped up into one, and so I'm not going to have 3 separate audio articles this week. Only one that details the last year's journey and lessons learned in my first year of pursuing my dream.

If you would like to share the lessons you have learned since you have started your business,

I invite you to call the http://www.BrainStorm-Podcast.com call-in recording line, or share your story in one of the online comment areas. You may be an encouragement to someone else struggling in those initial unsteady stages of entrepreneurship.

And don't forget the Digital Business Bookstore (http://www.DigBizBooks.com).

If you or any entrepreneur you know would like to be a part of DigBizBooks.com, send 'em my way. I want to stock the shelves with really great ebooks, audio books and video curriculums. For more details, go to the site and check out all of the benefits for anyone who participates (especially those that get on board by the grand opening!).

So have a great week - and I hope my ramblings will encourage someone out there to pursue their dreams until they come true.

Penny,
This was one of the BEST issues yet because you shared YOU. You didn't whitewash your success and glorify it, no you told it "real". I loved this and it did encourage me and in fact, I actually cried in a couple of placing because you were touching on my own journey and struggles. I've watched you struggle and grow since last year too. I always knew, just knew you'd be successful.
Thank you sharing this Penny and congrats, it's just the beginning girlfriend!

Have a tail waggin' day!

Is Real Estate Investment Good or Bad? Take it from someone who knows...

The May 30, 2005 issue of Fortune magazine had an article on the gold rush for real estate investment. This subject is near and dear to my heart, since my husband is a real estate investor. Let me tell you, when things are good, they are very good, but when things are bad... [Read More!]

You never know what will happen at any moment.

Just ask the Michigan Wolverines and the UCLA Bruins battling it out in the Women's Softball World Series. One moment, UCLA is making it look like a shut-out. Next moment, Michigan is hitting a homerun and turning the momentum their way. A couple of base hits and a homerun later, and the underdog is on top. You see, you never know what can happen.

Hope is the eager expectation of something good that you desire. This week's podcast gives you examples of the tide changing in a moment, changing the outcome that at one time looked gloomy. What at one time looked hopeless was actually far from it.

So if you're struggling right now, remember, things can change and go your way in the blink of an eye.

Encouraging Audiobooks presents,
How to Live a Holy Life,
by
C. E. Orr.

DEVOTIONAL READING.

A person may almost be known by the books he reads. If he habitually reads bad books, we can pretty safely conclude that he is a bad man; on the other hand, if he habitually reads religious books, we can reasonably presume that he is a religious man. Why is this? It is because the nature
of a person's books is usually the nature of his thoughts; and as a man thinks, so he is.

Consequently, our reading devotional literature is a great aid to our being devotional. Too few, I fear, realize how important to our spiritual advancement is the cultivation of a taste for devotional reading. As a rule, those who have a taste for spiritual books and gratify that taste prosper in the Lord, while those who have no relish for such books labor
at a great disadvantage. Some one has said that "he who begins a devout life without a taste for spiritual reading may consider the ordinary difficulties multiplied in his case by ten." The most spiritual men of all ages have had a strong love for reading spiritual books. If, however, my reader happens not to have such a taste or such a love, he should not be discouraged, for it can be created and increased through perseverance in reading devotional literature. Just as a person who does not relish a certain food may learn to like it if he will persist in eating it, so a person who does not have a taste for devotional books may come to enjoy
them if he will diligently and prayerfully peruse them.

SouthWest Airlines Fends Off Competitors

In Fortune's May 16, 2005 issue, Barney Gimbel writes about how Southwest Airlines is dealing with the changing economy and competitors that are catching up by slashing prices. We want to look at competition in the marketplace from both the standpoint of the market leader and the competitor.

Southwest: King of Employee Loyalty

Southwest has always been the low cost provider, and has been marked as the airline that treats its employees like royalty. This has bred deep loyalty in the employees, something that no other company or industry has quite been able to match.

Did you know that even when website reservations caused the closing of local reservation offices, Southwest did NOT let go of any of the employees, but paid for relocation or travel expenses so that they could keep their jobs? Now that is a commitment to their employees! Per Gimbel, "Southwest has never laid off an employee." What a feat! [Read More!]

Everyone deals with struggles and discouragement.

This collection of scriptures has been mixed with music, and lasts about 25 minutes. It was designed to be played over and over, so you can let the scriptures permeate your soul and your spirit, and you can fill yourself with the Word Of God, as the scriptures suggest. I hope this will be the first of a collection of thematic scripture recordings I create and offer on www.EncouragingAudiobooks.com. I hope you enjoy today's podcast.

Deuteronomy 1:11

11May the LORD God of your fathers make you a thousand times more numerous than you are, and bless you as He has promised you!

Deuteronomy 15:6

6For the LORD your God will bless you just as He promised you; you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow; you shall reign over many nations, but they shall not reign over you.

Joshua 23:5

5And the LORD your God will expel them from before you and drive them out of your sight. So you shall possess their land, as the LORD your God promised you.

Joshua 23:10

10One man of you shall chase a thousand, for the LORD your God is He who fights for you, as He promised you.

2 Samuel 7:28

28And now, O Lord GOD, You are God, and Your words are true, and You have promised this goodness to Your servant.

1 Kings 8:56

56Blessed be the LORD, who has given rest to His people Israel, according to all that He promised. There has not failed one word of all His good promise, which He promised through His servant Moses.
