Write What You Know

When writing anything, the first thing most writers are told is to write what you know. If that isn't a brain drain, I don't know what is. One may spend a lot of time trying to come up with a topic they know about, but few realize that they know more than they think they do.

I had a book in my head for years, but I did not write it. Why? I lacked confidence in myself, no matter how much praise I received for my talent. I made excuses for years as to why I couldn't write this book, even though I knew the story I wanted to tell, inside out. I lived it.

The only thing that was accomplished by my putting off the task was that the story got longer.

One day, I just sat down and started writing. I wrote long hand in a notebook and by the time it was full, I had discovered that writing this book was not as difficult as I thought it would be. The words just spilled onto the pages, and I took it to my computer to transcribe and edit.

In April, I published it myself. Since doing that, I have been promoting it everywhere I can. You see, the down side to self publishing is the marketing. You get to do it all yourself.

The story is my memoir. Why did I write it? Well, for years I have had friends tell me that my life has been interesting enough to make into a screen play. I decided to write a book instead.

What makes my life so interesting? I fell in love 30 years ago and never gave up on that love. Even though I did not marry my true love back then, and married another, I survived my abusive marriages and ended up with my one true love 17 years after falling in love with him.

I have survived many tragic events in my life and now live the life of my dreams. The life I dreamed of 30 years ago has been mine for the last 13 years.

My message to others is that if I can do it, you can too! Forever and Always... A True Love Story Check it out!
