W32/Sobig.e@MM Virus

Thursday, June 26, 2003
This one's a nasty one! I've received it three times today. Once as with Subject, RE:Application (as if it were from a job applicant), second RE:Movie and then finally, this last one looked like a bounced email from AOL's mailer daemon. The attachment was a zip file name your_details.zip but was in an attached .eml (email) file. Forged headers and everything. Between this virus and the W32/Bugbear virus it's obvious to me that the virus creators are trying to be more deceptive in their strategies. You can't tell what the subject or body of an email that contains a virus might be. The rule to follow is simple: if an email contains an attachment... don't open it. If you think it's legit, then send an email to the sender asking them to confirm what they are sending you.

Another great reason to use RSS and news feeds to communicate!

Corey Rudl Sells "Email Secrets"

Thursday, June 26, 2003
The Internet Marketing Center's Corey Rudl, the owner, has now decided to risk everything and sell his secret strategy for generating 41,409 email subscribers. Price for this ebook is $97.00 ($183.00 after June 29th). Hmmmm, guess I'll have to check back on the 30th to see what is says then.

So anyway, Corey's going to sell his secret strategy that's taken over 6 years to develop and refine. Why's he selling it so cheap? Easy, because email is DEAD! Just like Mark Joyner sold out his secrets, Corey sees the writing on the wall too and see's this as a way to sucker more of the newbie's out of a few more bucks.

Now on a side note. Buying Corey's package might be worthwhile, IF you put the strategies to work in building an subscriber base using news feeds (another name for the news channels that Quikonnex provides it's members). Building "mega-email" list in the future is going to guarantee nothing but more spam complaints, bounced email messages, and more spam in your email box.
