Terrorist Surveillance Legislation Needs Our Action Today!

Dear Bobbette,

Government intelligence leaders and counter-terrorism experts assert that one of the most powerful tools we have to prevent terrorism is surveillance of foreign communications. Without getting into details (for obvious reasons), we know for a fact that such surveillance has helped America and its allies in the war on Islamic terrorism foil numerous potential attacks over the past few years.

Ten days ago, the House of Representatives went into recess without re-authorizing this powerful tool. The U.S. Senate, with bi-partisan support, has already voted to re-authorize presidential authority for this foreign surveillance.

While there appears to be enough votes from Republicans and some Democrats in the House to join the Senate and pass this legislation, some leaders in the House are fighting to prevent its passage, and have effectively stalled the bill.

Your U.S. Representative needs to hear from you today that you support this important surveillance tool. Your Representative, whether Democrat or Republican, needs to know that we are outraged that the House of Representatives has not joined the Senate in passing the legislation to re-authorize the use of foreign terrorist surveillance.

A fundamental front in the war.

Unless we counteract the influence of Saudi money on the education of the young, we’re going to find it very difficult to win the war on terror. I only wish I was referring to Saudi-funded madrassas in Pakistan. Unfortunately, I’m talking about K-12 education in the United States. Believe it or not, the Saudis have figured out how to make an end-run around America’s K-12 curriculum safeguards, thereby gaining control over much of what children in the United States learn about the Middle East. While we’ve had only limited success paring back education for Islamist fundamentalism abroad, the Saudis have taken a surprising degree of control over America’s Middle-East studies curriculum at home.

Game, Set, Match
How did they do it? Very carefully...and very cleverly. It turns out that the system of federal subsidies to university programs of Middle East Studies (under Title VI of the Higher Education Act) has been serving as a kind of Trojan horse for Saudi influence over American K-12 education. Federally subsidized Middle East Studies centers are required to pursue public outreach. That entails designing lesson plans and seminars on the Middle East for America’s K-12 teachers. These university-distributed teaching aids slip into the K-12 curriculum without being subject to the normal public vetting processes. Meanwhile, the federal government, which both subsidizes and lends its stamp of approval to these special K-12 course materials on the Middle East, has effectively abandoned oversight of the program that purveys them (Title VI). If Andre Carson wins the Democratic-leaning Indianapolis district over a freshman Republican legislator and a longshot Libertarian candidate, he would join Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., as the only Muslims elected to Congress. Carson, 33, said he doesn't believe his religious identity hurts him politically even while American Muslims struggle to gain acceptance. Polling last summer by the Pew Research Center and Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life found 29 percent of Americans held unfavorable views of Muslim Americans, a higher percentage than shortly after Sept. 11, 2001.

New Wave Of Terrorism Carried Out By Women Wearing Loaded Pregnant Suits.

Reporting Sean Hennessey WASHINGTON (CBS) ― The FBI and Department of Homeland Security are warning against a new type of terrorism carried out by women who appear to be pregnant.

It may be the newest wave in suicide attacks: a prosthetic pregnant belly serving as a compartment for explosives. The belly opens up from the front and the explosives are placed inside.

"It's not the first time we've had women involved before in one way or another," says security expert Robert Strang.

Strang tells CBS 2 he isn't surprised at the new lows terrorists will stoop to -- lows that include those with Down syndrome even carrying out suicide attacks in Baghdad.

"They're recruiting anybody they can get to do those things that's not going to inform law enforcement, that's not going to be a threat to these organizations that can get the job done," says Strang.

With terrorist training camps up and running in Pakistan, there are now fears Americans might one day be involved. Authorities are increasingly worried that Al Qaeda is actively recruiting people who look like Americans and sound like Americans to carry out the next attack on America.

"Whether it's Americans or whether it's people who can launch from Europe, because they have visas or passports that allow them to travel to the United States, they are looking at people who can operate in the west," says Philip Mudd of the FBI.

Authorities say there is "no specific, credible intelligence" that says terrorists are planning to use women and suicide bombers to attack, but the warning was sent to agencies across the country in the wake of recent attacks overseas.

Hesham Islam's 'resume didn't add up,' official says.
In a stunning turn of events, a high-level Muslim military aide blamed for costing an intelligence contractor his job will step down from his own Pentagon post, WND has learned.

Meanwhile, his rival, Maj. Stephen Coughlin, a leading authority on Islamic war doctrine, may stay in the Pentagon, moving from the office of the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to the office of the secretary of defense. However, sources say a former U.S. ambassador to Turkey is trying to block his new contract.

The top Pentagon aide, Egyptian-born Hesham H. Islam, came under a cloud of suspicion after reports raised doubt about his resume and contacts he had made with radical Muslims. He is expected to leave the government next month, officials say.

Islam and Coughlin recently quarreled over intelligence briefings Coughlin presented showing a close connection between the religion of Islam and terrorism. Coughlin's contract with the Joint Chiefs, which ends in March, was not renewed.

"DHS, FBI Warn of Possibility of Female Homicide Bombers," from FoxNews (thanks to all who sent this in to me): The growing use by terrorist groups of women — some disguised as expectant moms — to deliver deadly homicide bombs has prompted the Department of Homeland Security and FBI to issue a rare warning that such attacks could take place on American soil.
