Up On My Soapbox
by Tom Liston
Every time I see one of the current spate of AOL television ads portraying their customers as clueless morons I want to scream. It’s not that I have some sort of deep-seated respect for the intelligence of AOL users, but rather, these ads represent, far too well, the current industry mindset, which treats computers as home appliances.
"Don’t worry about viruses and spyware," AOL explains, "we’ll take care of that for you... Plug it in, turn it on, and disengage your brain..."

While you're at it, you should really advise people to get rid of AOL. It is NOT a true ISP, and despite all the bogus claims their commercials make, AOL has the absolute worst reputation for spam and virus infections. Educate people that they need to get off the training wheels and get on the real Internet. Intelligent people don't pay $30 a month for the crap AOL offers.
Hahaha, good one Jim. Internet drivers license. I like it. Yes, AOL's virus protection is a good thing - the only thing I can think of that IS good. I have 7,000 AOL subscribers who want to get my newsletter - only about 250 get it from each mailing. So, I have to send 250 at a time. I do the mailing myself to make sure most recieve my mailings. Why people can't see the value in having a REAL email client is a mystery to me. Maybe I've send out a questionaire before adding an email address to my list ;-)
I've often thought there ought to be some sort of Internet Driver's License. Before being allowed to get online, you must pass a test and your computer must past a safety inspection. With the number of spam emails (and now comment spammers) using IP address from hacked computers, there's obviously a lot of folks on the net that do not know how to protect their own computers. I personally applaud AOL for including virus protection with their services, even though I would never use their services myself.

I'm a soldier currently stationed in Mosul. I'm getting ready to redeploy back to Germany. I was in a Mosul chow hall when the attack took place, not the one that got hit, though. Another soldier from our warehouse came down to our chow hall to make sure we were allright when he heard the news the chow hall got hit. After lunch, we walked down to the combat support hospital where all the wounded were being treated to give blood. They said they didn't need any but thanked us for our concern.

AIR RAGE
By Michelle Malkin
This post will be unusually long. That's because I've decided to use my bandwith today to combat a government agency's self-serving--and dangerous--spin campaign. The great thing about the blogosphere is that I can give over as much space as necessary to others who don't have a voice.
And nobody at the Transportation Security Administration, at the Federal Air Marshals Service, or in the White House can stop me.
Last week, I wrote a column on the idiotic dress code policy instituted by Thomas Quinn, head of the Federal Air Marshals Service. Quinn promptly dispatched his flack, David M. Adams, to the cable networks this week to accuse Washington Times reporter Audrey Hudson and me of spreading "patently false" reports and "misinformation."
Can you spell C-Y-A?

U.N. influence in U.S. schools.
by Henry Lamb
Since its beginning, the United Nations Education, Science and Cultural Organization has been trying to impose an international curriculum to prepare students for world government. More than 500 U.S. schools are now using the International Baccalaureate program, and the Department of Education has just awarded a $1.2 million grant to expand the program in middle schools in Arizona, Massachusetts and New York.
In one of its first efforts in 1949, the UNESCO textbook, titled "Toward World Understanding," used to teach teachers what to teach, said: (click title to continue)

I have received several emails telling me that our young men and women shouldn't be in Iraq or whereever else they choose to be and the President Bush is evil for sending them there to die or Rumsfield and the Pentegon are hell bound for this or that...
To all who say - The soldier shouldn't be there (for whatever reason)... I say:

I'll be watching for that article...
Happy New Year to you and yours and God bless you.
Hi Bobbette,
You bet I'll write an article now that you've given me the idea! Gosh, why didn't I think of this sooner. Besides it will not only be a great witness but a way to let everyone know that I'm not a New Ager just because I'm in the holistic pet care industry. Whew!
Thank God for wonderful Christians like you who as a friend says, "Live out loud" for Jesus!
I've felt that "much darker side" whereof you speak Bobbette. It's creepy to say the least especially when it is shrouded in the cloaked words of "namaste and blessings". Prayer needs to be very evident in all of us these days. Oh and they are constantly, constantly bashing our president, our ideals, and more in all of the holistic forums and newsletters I visit and read. We need to be vigilant. Hmmm, the enemy is ramping up his efforts but like you said, God is in control.
Thanks for leaving me this message. I appreciate it so much. You are right. It is beyond me why people damn those who are serving their country. And, as for those who call our president evil - I believe they are from a "much darker side" of evil - so much so they have no perception as to what "good" is and they don't care to know and probably wouldn't recognize it if Jesus stood in front of them. We know our enemies by their words and deeds. These days THAT is very plain to hear and see. Lucifer is busy. God is in charge.
Drop in anytime. The new year will bring lots more activity here in Quikonnex. Write to me anytime. If you ever write an article about holistic pet care and the flower power, send it to me and I'll publish it...
Bobbette,
Your words ring so true I my only wish is that I'd said them out as loud as you! Thanks you for standing in the gap! My husband is former army, my dad fought in WWWII, and they were and are proud to serve this country. No whining here. They can whine because brave men and women chose to fight!
One more thing...they think Bush is evil because he is a man of God. So they listen to their God, our enemy. He is the ultimate deceiver.
This channel is refreshing to me to read because I am inundated in the flower power in my industry - holistic pet care. What I'd like to know is how can you be holistic and serve the devil?
Thanks Deb, you are right. I've received many emails agreeing with you on the subject. Just a few anti-Americans who rant and rave.
God Bless our troops...
Amen!!
I agree 100%. If it weren't for the men and women in our military, who would there be to defend our nation? Not these whiners! Every person I meet online or off that I find who has served or is serving in any branch automatically has my undying respect and gratitude. I also make a point to thank them for their unselfish sacrifice. I especially make a point to do this to all Vietnam Vets, as I am still ashamed of the way they have been treated.
These people should remember that if it weren't for our military defenses, this country would NOT exist today!
My 2 cents.
Deb

How the ACLU Stole Christmas - Again
by Jen Shroder
12/10/04
Last year in Washington, a seven-year-old asked, "Mom, why can't we say Christmas? in our song?" It hurt Darla Dowell to tell her daughter, "Because Christmas is banned in public school."
Little was done last year and today the movement to strip all semblance of Christmas is stronger, thanks to the ACLU.

By Pejman Yousefzadeh Let's put a silly myth to bed, shall we? Contrary to what some believe, American politics is not devolving into a state of fascism.
We read and hear warning cries alerting us to the supposed incipient fascist threat quite often nowadays. Many of these "alerts" inform us that our freedoms and liberties are at risk, that the American democratic-republic is gradually giving way to an authoritarian or totalitarian establishment, and that our leaders are reminiscent of Nazis. Thus we have Internet threads comparing George W. Bush with Hitler, or at the very least, with Mussolini or Leonid Brezhnev. By extension of the Hitler analogy, America may be like Germany in 1939 -- on the cusp of embracing fascism if it hasn't completely done so yet. (click title to continue)

In 1965, our 'Captain' Lyndon B. Johnson along with helmsman Senator Teddy Kennedy drove America into an 'iceberg' of massive, unrestricted immigration that opened up the flood gates with the 'Immigration Reform Act'. At first, the flow of one million immigrants annually wasn't noticed. We were benevolent. Our country was big. There was plenty of room and resources.... (click title to continue)

In mid-November 2004, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced he would be taking the prominent role in cementing a powerful coalition of regional as well as superpowers consisting of India, Communist China, Russia and Brazil. The purpose of this coalition is to challenge the supremacy of America and the European Union. Putin is best known as the "Gray Cardinal" for his brutality while leader of the KGB. Putin is also much feared because of his alleged control of the Russian Mafia and the drug trade.
Putin visited Brazil from November 21-23, 2004 to discuss economic issues with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio de Silva. There is speculation that Putin has bigger plans in wanting to get a Russian foot hold in Latin America in order to expand Moscow's geopolitical influence in the region. The Communist Chinese express worries about America's influence over the world. Should these plans come to fruition, the size of this coalition would make up three fourths of the world's population and have an overwhelming voice in the United Nations.
