As required by the CAN-SPAM Act, the Federal Trade Commission today announced a proposal to establish a mark or notice that will be required for inclusion in spam that contains sexually oriented material. The purpose of the mark or notice is to inform the recipient that a spam message contains sexually oriented material and to facilitate filtering of such spam messages.

A proposal to rid the world of spam at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland just wouldn't be complete unless it involved some economics of its own. Indeed, Gates' proposed "magic solution"--in which the senders of unwanted e-mail are finanically penalized at the recipient's discretion--implies the existence of an electronic chargeback infrastructure, which critics say will be difficult if not impossible to implement (especially in two years) on a global scale unless one technology maker controlled most of the Internet. Hmmmm.

(CNN) -- Hackers unleashed an agile worm Monday -- using a sneaky, fairly new tactic to get unsuspecting computer users to diffuse their malicious code.
Dubbed "W32/MyDoom" or "Novarg," the worm circulated so fast anti-virus firms quickly raised threat warnings to "high" saying the bug was one of the worst in recent months.

We all know that spam is totally out of control and as predicted, it's become worse since the signing of the CAN-SPAM law on December 16th, 2003.
I wouldn't get anything done if I had to go through all the mail that attempts to gain entry to my Inbox. I started keeping track of the spam hitting my Inbox and during the week of January 19th to the 26th, 11,859 messages tried to reach my Inbox. Of these, only 380 were legitimate messages.

Most of us have a 'built-in' resistance to change even when it's for our own good. Have you noticed that? It's understandable when faced with a death in the family or health issues or a job loss. There are ways to deal with that kind of loss and I came across an interesting article by Anne Riches in The Four Emotional Stages of Change.
The resistance to change I'm referring to is adapting to new technologies when they benefit both the publisher and the subscriber in equal measure.
