FrogSearch.com Beginner's Pay Per Click Advertising Guide.

The Head Frog Here... FrogSearch.com Beginner's Guide

Below is a beginners guide we have put together to tell you step-by-step how to create an account with FrogSearch and begin receiving traffic. We suggest that you print this document out and keep it handy when you join our site.

This document was written to help newcomers understand how to advertise with pay-per-click (PPC) search engines. The concepts in this guide are easy to follow and can be used for any PPC site.

Step 1: Think about your business!

==================================

What type of business do you have? What category does it fall under?

Who is your target customer? These are all questions you should be asking yourself when setting up a PPC account.

Let's make believe you own a bicycle shop called, "Mary's Bicycle Shop."

Your target customer is someone that wants to buy a bicycle... the first thing you need to do is to figure out what "keyword phrases" someone is likely to search for when looking for your product.

Keyword phrases can be anything related to your product, from a particular "bicycle part" to an actual brand of bicycles.

Take a look at this list:

bicycle

bicycles

bicycle tire

bicycle tires

*Schwinn

These phrases are those someone might type into a search engine when looking for a bicycle or bicycle parts... all perfect keyword phrases that you would want to list your site under.

On FrogSearch, singular and plural searches are considered separate, so if you were adding your site under "bicycle" you should also add your site under "bicycles".

You should take a few minutes to write down a list of keyword phrases related to your business. If you need help, when you log into your account at FrogSearch you can use a special option call "Keyword Tool" to see what popular searches are.

* (Schwinn is a top brand of bicycle.)

Step 2: Create an Account

=========================

If you have not yet done so, go create a FrogSearch advertising account.

This is easy and will take only a few minutes.

To create an account, click on, "Advertise with FrogSearch" at the bottom of any FrogSearch page. Complete the instructions on the page. You will then receive a message from FrogSearch with a confirmation link in it.

Please note that you will need to click the link in the confirmation message to complete your account setup.

Step 3: Login to your Account

=============================

Now that you have created an account, log in!

Go to: http://www.FrogSearch.com and click on, "Login to your account."

Enter the User ID and Password that you selected when you filled out the form.

The password is case-sensitive meaning that lowercase and uppercase are different. If you have forgotten your password you can click on "Forgot Your Password" to have it sent to you.

Step 4: Add Keywords

====================

Now that you have logged in, you need to add your site, under the list of keyword phrases that you created earlier.

Just click on, "Add Keywords," under the, "Manage Listings," link. This will bring up a simple form you need to fill in.

The first box is called, "Keyword Phrases". In this box you should enter the keyword phrases you created.

Next you need to enter your "Site URL". The Site URL is the web address that you want to send customers to.

Example, our URL is http://www.FrogSearch.com.

Make sure to enter the FULL URL, including the, "http://" before the website address.

The next box is for the "Title". The Title is a short, 50-character, label for your search engine listing. In our earlier example for Mary's Bike Shop, a title may be "Mary's Bike Shop – Top Brand Bikes!"

The title usually includes your websites name and maybe a short slogan or generic description of what you have. It must be, at most, 50 characters long

(A character is any letter, number, symbol or space).

Now you need to enter a longer "Description" of your site.

The description can be up to 150 characters long and should give the visitor a basic idea of what your site sells.

For our example, a description may be:

"We have been providing top, name brand, bicycles and parts for over 30 years.

Items can be shipped anywhere in the country, within 3 days and make great gifts!".

This is where you should sell yourself to the customer and make them want to visit you. An important thing to consider… "Don’t lie"! False statements may increase the hits to your site, but it won’t increase sales if you’re not attracting the visitors you’re looking for.

Lastly you should see a box called "Bid". This is how much you are willing to pay for your placement under a particular keyword. The higher your bid, the higher you will be ranked and typically, the more traffic you will receive.

For now you should leave this set to the default which is ".01" (one cent per click). You can; however, change your bid anytime you wish.

When you are done filling in the boxes on this page, press the button labeled,

"Add Listing" to submit your Keyword(phrase).

Repeat these steps for each keyword and keyword phrase to be used. List each of your web sites separately, should you have multiple sites to promote.

We recommend at least 20 - 50 keywords and/or keyword phrases for each web site listed.

Step 5: Fund Your Account

=========================

To fund your account, click on, "Payment". There you can type in the amount you are going to fund your account with and hit the button to pay through PayPal. The minimum payment is $25.00.

As soon as your payment is posted, to your account, your advertising will be live and your site can begin to receive traffic.

If you run out of funds before the next billing cycle, we stop the advertising until you fund your account again.

Step 6: Adjust your Bids

========================

Now that your account is active, you should adjust your bids to make sure you are getting optimum positioning.

The first thing you need to do is decide how much you are willing to pay. The

Higher you bid, the higher you will be listed, and typically, the more traffic you will receive. It is NOT always necessary to be number one; you should only bid as much

as you can afford to spend, to get a customer to your site.

How should you decide how much to bid?

Let's look at an example:

Let's say that Mary, (from Mary's Bike Shop) gets 100 visitors to her site. Of those 100 visitors, 5 of them visitors buy something. Mary also knows that on average, when a customer buys something, she makes $10 profit.

This means:

5 paying customers x $10 profit per customer = $50 profit

$50 total profit / 100 visitors = 50 cents per visitor

This illustrates that, even though every visitor does not buy something, on average, a visitor is worth 50 cents profit for Mary. In other words, Mary can afford to pay up to 50 cents per click to, "break even". If she pays any more than 50 cents per click she will lose money. Likewise, if she pays less than 50 cents per click, she will make more money.

Mary may decide that she wants to spend, at most, half of her profits on advertising... Meaning, that she is willing to pay up to 25 cents per click.

If you wish to change your bids you can use the, "Manage Listings," option. This will show you all of your keywords, along with the top 5 bid amounts, currently being paid by other FrogSearch advertisers.

Manually adjust your bids so that you gain the positioning you want.

When you are done, submit your changes.

Step 7: You're all done!

========================

That's it, your account should now be live and you will begin receiving traffic. Log in every few days, to review your account activity, adjust your bids, and make sure that your account is adequately funded.

The quantity of traffic you receive will depend on several things:

* How popular the keyword (phrases) you chose are

* What position you are listed in under each keyword (phrase)

* How well you wrote your description

We suggest you start at a penny per click and then adjust your bids accordingly.

Test out different site descriptions, keyword choices and bid amounts to see what works best for you.

Good luck!

How To Screen Your Visitors When Using Pay Per Click Advertising

How To Screen Your Visitors When Using Pay Per Click Advertising

If you are using pay per click advertising, I don't need to tell you that it can get very expensive if you have a lot of unnecessary click throughs. In this article I will explain how to screen your visitors and how to apply it to your pay per click advertising campaign, so that you can screen your visitors before they click through.

How It Works

To minimize the amount of unnecessary click throughs, we are going to talk about a screening technique that is used in copywriting. A good copywriter has the ablity to screen the serious individuals from the test pilots, before the sale is initially made.

By using this screening technique you will dramatically decrease the amount of refunds that you could be receiving. In this case, you need to be specific about your product or service without giving too many details, this will eliminate unnecessary click throughs.

When it comes time to develop an ad that best describes your offer, you need to use precise wording. If you use any ambiguous words, phrases or statements in your ads, you will confuse the viewer, making them either click through or leave. You need to keep in mind that every click through is costing you money, so you need to make sure that you are targeting your market and that each of your visitors are qualified.

Applying The Headline

When placing a pay per click advertisement there are two things that you need to pay attention to, the headline and the description. The headline is used to grab their attention, build their curiousity and force them to read on. The difficult part is that the pay per click ads only allow you a limited amount of characters, usually up to 50. Your attention grabbing headline will end up being only three or four words. You need to make your headline jump out at the viewer, but at the same time, you need to be specific.

One of the biggest mistakes I often see, is that people use their business name for the headline of their pay per click advertisement. A business name is not going to grab their attention or motivate them to read the description. For example, let me ask you which headline would grab your attention and motivate you to read the description, "Elites Marketing" or "Earn $47 - $270 Per Sale". Do you see the difference between the two headlines and how specific the second one was?

Applying The Description

As far as the description goes, you have a little more to work with, unless you are using Google's Adwords. Google's Adwords gives you two lines and each line only allows up to 35 characters. You will need to be as specific and descriptive as you can. The description is very crucial, and it will determine whether or not your visitor will initially click through.

Let me give you another example, now which description is precise in wording and is descriptive enough to screen your visitor, "You can join our Two Tier Associate Program at no cost or obligation", or "Snowball in cash by promoting info-marketing products. Join for Free!" I hope you picked the second description!

The first description, "You can join our Two Tier Associate Program at no cost or obligation" is vague and wide open. This description does not describe what kind of product or service they would be promoting or kind of associate program I am offering is, pay per lead, pay per click, pay per sale, or two tier. You don't want to use a description that is too vague, that is how you get a lot of unnecessary click throughs.

On the other hand, the second description, "Snowball in cash by promoting marketing info-products. Join for Free!" is very clear and concise. Even though the description did not say what kind of associate program it was, in the headline it was clear. It said, "Earn $47 - $270 Per Sale." Moreover, I was able to tell my visitor that they'd be promoting information marketing products and was free to participate. I was also able to hit them with a couple psychological triggers, "Snowball" and "Cash".

To screen your visitors more effectively, you need to choose keywords that are relevant to your product or service and that target your market. If you select keywords or phrases that are too general, you will still have a lot of unnecessary click throughs. You can only screen so much, so don't select inappropriate keywords or phrases when starting your pay per click advertisement campaign. Take your time and brainstorm for the appropriate keywords and phrases that best desribes your product or service.
