Something of Substance

Introducing The King

The King I am referring to, of course, is CONTENT. Content is, and always will be King. Everyone has heard it before, yet so many people still don't seem to get it. Content can determine the success, or failure of your business.

What I mean when I say content is, information that can be processed at the reader's own speed, that they can get something out of. Words. Words that one can sink their teeth into.

Internet marketing is, by definition, "the activity or process involving research, promotion, sales and distribution of a product or service.Online advertising, on the other hand, is the, "promotion" part of that process.

What Is Intellectual Property?

Intellectual property... now there's a real 90's deal. Copyrights, trade marks, patents, have been around for a long while, and are generally understood by most people. However, those legalities didn't encompass concepts, in need of protection, since the exploration of the virtual world, commenced.

When the Internet was born, the transmission of ideas exploded. All of a sudden, there was a whole new realm of possibilities to be explored. Idea guys were suddenly in high demand, and the money began to flow.

In the spirit of competition, we discovered a need to protect ideas, thought processes, and credit card numbers. So, the government stepped in and wrote some laws, to protect what is in your head.

That is not a very good return for all of the work invovled in bringing that publication into being.

Do you trust the advertisements you read, in print, or through online advertising sources? What about the faceless voice; the guy on T.V., who tells you in 30 seconds, why you should buy the latest gadget? Are you a skeptic?

The reason for your skeptism is simple: you know that the whole existence of the advertisement is to part you with your cash, and after all, there are dishonest people in the world... It is a natural defense mechanism, built into the human psyche. It is also a very good reason why people using traditional online advertising methods are having such a hard time making a sale.
