Let me ask you a question. Do You Have Marketing Plan?
Marketing is the real back bone of your business. Don't you think that it is important enough to need a plan, completely separate from your basic business plan? After all with out a plan how will you know where you are going. Let's go over the basic information that your marketing plan should include.
First you need a marketing strategy and a budget. It is a good idea to get the basics of your marketing plan written down, so that you can see exactly what you are aiming for. Start the process by making lists.
List of all the advertising you plan to do. Include websites, newspapers, radio, flyers, the yellow pages ect.
For each form of advertising you should assign an estimated cost. Determine how many customers you expect to reach. This will allow you to work out your cost of per customer, which is how much of you budget you need to spend on advertising to bring in one customer.
Next make a list all of the pricing policies you plan to have, as well as any special offers that you think will be good. Don't worry you can make price changes and new offers later, The idea here is to have some basic long term plans.
Another good idea is to have a list of other businesses that could be considered to be competitors. You need to know who you are up against and a good plan to differentiate yourself from them.

This is just a basic outline for starting your businesses plan. Remember, when in doubt seek out help. Do a quick search for sample marketing plans online or visit your local library for more information.

Today we're going to talk about
Trademarks and Copyrights.
So you've put all this work into your business: you've got a name, you've made some marketing materials, even written some things for your customers. If you don't want your competitors to be able to take what you've done and exploit it, though, you're going to need to take some steps to protect yourself.
What's in a Name?
Your name is one of the most important assets your business has -- it's how your customers identify you. Knowing your name is the first step to trusting you and recommending you to others. But what can you do if you're afraid that someone else might start using your name, or simply start another company with a similar enough name to confuse people?
The answer is that you can register a trademark. A trademark is a word or logo that distinguishes one thing from another, and you have the right to register any names or logos your business uses, in order to stop other people from using them. Coca-Cola, for example, is a trademark of the Coca-Cola Company -- if I start selling my own drink and calling it 'Coca-Cola', or even something like 'Cocoa-Cooler', then they have grounds to sue me.
Making Your Mark.
You can trademark both your business' name as well as the names of any products you sell. The only condition is that they can't be too similar to names that someone has already trademarked, and you can't usually trademark words that are in common use.
It costs a few hundred dollars to register a trademark, and you can do it through the patent office. It can be a waste of money to trademark too many words, so you should only bother with it if you think one of your names could be threatened by competitors.
Once you get your trademark, it's yours -- you can do whatever you want with it, including giving others permission to use it or selling it to them. Remember, though, that your trademark usually only applies in the country where you registered it -- you will not usually be protected from competition where foreign businesses are using your trademark. Also, your right to use the trademark will only last for a set number of years (usually a decade from the date of registration). After this time, you will have to pay again to renew it.

Around this time of year I guess I get quite melancholy, thinking of the world around us and wondering what kind of world I have brought my children and grandchildren into and I ran across this from Ben Stein and I wanted to share it with you.
This Gives you something to think about....even if you don't believe in God...and remember, when he refers to God, he's saying it as it applies to all religions, not the Church - Mosque - Synagogue.
The following was written by Ben Stein ("Ferris Bueller's Day Off") and recited by him on CBS Sunday Morning Commentary.
My confession: I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish. And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled trees Christmas trees.
I don't feel threatened.
I don't feel discriminated against. That's what they are: Christmas trees .
It doesn't bother me a bit when people say, "Merry Christmas" to me. I don't think they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto.
In fact, I kind of like it. It shows that we are all brothers and sisters celebrating this happy time of year.
It doesn't bother me at all that there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my beach house in Malibu .
If people want a creche, it's just as fine with me, as is the Menorah a few hundred yards away.
I don't like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians. I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period.
I have no idea where the concept came from that America is an explicitly atheist country. I can't find it in the Constitution, and I don't like it being shoved down my throat. Or maybe I can put it another way: where did the idea come from that we should worship Nick and Jessica, but we aren't allowed to worship God as we understand Him?
I guess that's a sign that I'm getting old, too. But there are a lot of us who are wondering where Nick and Jessica came from and where the America we knew went to.
In light of the many jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little different: This is not intended to be a joke; it's not funny, it's intended to get you thinking.
Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show, and Jane Clayson asked her "How could God let something like this happen?" (regarding Katrina). Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response.
She said, "I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives. And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out.
How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?"
In light of recent events...terrorists attack, school shootings, etc., I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found recently) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK.
Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school. The Bible says thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK.
Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he's talking about. And we said OK.
Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.
Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with "WE REAP WHAT WE SOW."
Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell. Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says.
Funny how you can send jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing.
Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace.
Are you laughing?
Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it.
Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks of us.
Pass it on if you think it has merit. If not then just discard it... no one will know you did. But, if you discard this thought process, don't sit back and complain about what bad shape the world is in.

How do you find Advisors, Accountants and Lawyers?
When you run a home business chances are you will need help from and accountant, a lawyer maybe just an advisor. But which ones do you need and how do you choose the right ones?
Word of mouth is in my opinion the best way to find reliable, trust worthy people. If that isn't an option you should spend bit of time comparing people and services. Start with a short list. Research them thoroughly and check your local Better Business Bureau. Seek out their clients and find out how long they have been in business.
First let's talk about advisors. You may not realize that there are different types of advisors. For instance you may need a financial advisor if you are trying to manage a lot of debt. They can help you structure your business so that it will easily pay your business debts as well as paying your salary.
There are also business advisors. They can help you if there is anything you are unsure about when it comes to running your business. Than can be more affordable and extremely helpful if you run into trouble. Having good advisors can take a lot of weight off your shoulders.
When you own a business the day may come when you will need a lawyer to help you with licenses, permits, regulations, contacts, or employment. You need to get one straight away if someone violates your trademark, copyright or patent, or someone threatens to take legal action against you for some reason. It's a good idea to have a lawyer on your side. Whenever you are dealing with the law you really shouldn't try to go it alone.
Accountants are a necessity for saving on your taxes. Accountants know the tax laws inside and out. They will be able to point out all the savings you might be entitled to. A good accountant who will keep in contact with you. They will remind you of tax deadlines and changes in the law.
Advertising your business can be confusing and costly if you don't know what your doing. If you aren't sure how run your advertising campaign you may want to check into an advertising agencies. A good one can create professional looking ad and place it in ways that will produce results. Look for one that specializes in home businesses, and will let you start with a small budget.
So you see with a little time and effort you can carefully choose the right advisor, accountant or lawyers to help you make running your home business much easier and less stressful.

How Can I Use Affirmations to Attract Money and Material Possessions?"
So you desire to gain material things in life? Affirmations are usually effective in this respect - maybe even more so than with other desires because material desires often come with stronger emotional attachments.
You'll recall that in my previous article, "Why Do Some Affirmations *Work* - and Others Don't?" I emphasized that affirmations that are emotionally charged are the ones most likely to work. So when you are emotionally connected to your desire for material things, you can use the power of affirmations to see how quickly your need is manifested!
Power Affirmations for Attracting Money. If your desire is to have an abundance of money to fill your needs, practice this affirmation: "I always have an abundance of money to meet all my needs." Repeat it several times, and then stop affirming. Be silent while knowing, visualizing, and feeling how it is to already have the amount of money you desire. Feel as though it has already happened, and that all your needs are more than satisfied. While in this state, hold yourself open to all the ways and means by which you will have money flow into your life to meet your every need.
Following are other power affirmations for abundant supply. Choose the affirmations that feel appropriate to you --those that resonate with you, or strike an emotional chord. It is important that the words feel comfortable to you and are in line with who you are. Feel free to create one for your specific need by substituting other words that have special meaning to you:
Affirmations of Abundant Supply:
* I am now open to receive.
* Life is easy; I have an abundance of whatever I need.
* I now have surplus, all my needs are being met.
* I have unlimited abundance.
* I now give and receive freely.
* This is a rich universe and there is plenty for all of us.
* I now live in a rich and loving universe.
* Money comes to me easily and effortlessly.
* I am always supplied with whatever I need.
* I move forward with an expectancy of my greatest good.
* I look for and receive a bountiful supply.
* My greatest good is coming to me NOW.
The last affirmation was a turning point for me personally.
TIP: How to Maintain the Emotional Charge of Your Affirmations
Most people who practice affirmations experience the challenge of maintaining the emotional charge of their affirmations. That's because although the power of thought is amazingly strong, it remains strong for a short period of time. Its quality changes and tends to diminish with each repetition.
For example: Suppose you recite an affirmation such as: "All my needs are met instantaneously." The affirmation produces a feeling, and you understand and connect with the affirmation at a certain level. But when you continue repeating the affirmation, "All my needs are met instantaneously," again and again, the thought seldom maintains the same level of emotion previously achieved. With each repetition, you tend to lose the mental picture of what the words mean, and they start to have less meaning.
Affirmations that are meaningless fail to reach deep enough to touch the limitless powers of your subconscious mind.
